We don't need no stinking patches!

SO what's a girl to do during the down slope of a deployment....get a new hobby. That's right, I've decided to make a quilt. I told sweets about it and he immediately called dibs on it. I'm planning on it being at least a full size. I've went out and got a lot of the fabric....here's the majority of what I've chosen.

I'm hoping that it turns out really well. I've only sewn a few times and it was nothing big. Mostly things like sewing holes in pants and making a pin cushion once. Haha, oh this should be interesting! Did I mention I'm making it by hand? We have a sewing machine somewhere but I'm not searching for it.

Today I got a phone call from sweets, he's still in Kuwait.

I know this is going to sound random but I love Kathy Griffin. She's so open and tells it like it is. I know some people really can't stand her because of her now infamous Emmy speech but I love her! I'm sorry, but anyone who gets up in front of millions of people on television and has the balls to say "Jesus Can Suck It", then wow! They're hardcore. The reason I'm mentioning her is because she's back for another season of Kathy Griffin: My Life On The D List. It's pretty entertaining and hilarious!
Check it out...she has no shame.

Perhaps you have more patience than I... but I'd huni down the sewing machine.

  3. I went to a quilt class at a local shop while we were at FLW. I really enjoyed it. I didn't finish the quilt though, it's wall hanging size, and all I need to do is put the back on...sigh...

I love the new layout! I'm waiting for one from Becca at lovely yellow ribbons myself, hopefully she gets to it soon!

I'm glad you picked up a hobby! I wish I knew how to sew. I'm a horrible housewife when it comes to things like that. Oops! hahaha I love the fabric, I can't wait to see it when it's done.

  7. Your quilt is going to be so cute! I love the fabrics!

I made a twin size patchwork quilt in high school, it was pretty easy, but I DEF didn't make it by hand! That's dedication!

  8. Cutie new blog design! I keep meaning to update mine, you have reminded me of that little project.

I think your new quilting project is a great idea. I'm a big fan of taking new classes or learning new things.

AND I love Life on the D List! I'm so glad the new season is here. My BFF and I had to postpone our trip to Vegas (was going to be for the 4th of July) and she just added a show for when we were suppose to be there. Bummed.

  14. Just came across your blog. I LOVE Kathy Griffin too...so much that I saw her live in LA. I took my mom as a surprise and she couldn't figure out where there were so many "feminine looking men" in the theater! The Bette Midler show was hilarious. Looking forward to more posts!

  15. Oooooo I made a quilt at the begining of deployment out of our old BCUs, DCUs and ACUs. It turned out huge and I gave it to him on R&R (okay it actually is my bedspread) But I loveed it. Props to you for quilting by hand... by machine was hard enough for me!

I've always wanted to learn to quilt. I can't sew though, so I'm not so sure how that would turn out.

  18. I'm with you on Kathy Griffin, she annoys some but I rather enjoy her. I mean I dont for a second like her politics but I can tune those out to hear her work suck it into a speech.
