Pumpkins

The past 2 days the weather has been cooler here. The calendar has rolled over to September and all the kiddo's are in school. This weekend is my alma maters first football game....so with that I know the fall is really here. However, what I love about this time of year is next month's upcoming, big event. The Great Pumpkin House
The pumpkin house is located in Kenova, WV. It's about 20 minutes from where I grew up and it's amazing. It's usually featured every year on some early morning talk show. It's been going on for years and years. They usually have over 3,000 pumpkins carved and lit, each one with a different design or saying. I've been going since I was in High school and it never disappoints. It usually opens the week of Halloween and goes till the day after. People come from everywhere to line up and look at the glowing pumpkins.

With some of the pumpkins in 2008

If you've never been to the pumpkin house you should think about making the drive! It's amazing! They have a themed light show with the pumpkins as well. Last year it was the Pirates of the Caribbean.

  4. That's crazy. The level of commitment is very impressive.

For Christmas there is a street in Austin that goes mad crazy decorating their houses... except they do it austin style. Two years ago someone had created a paper mache 15 food volcano on their roof that "sprayed" smoke and christmas lights every 15 minutes. Insanity!
