Theater Thursday

Theater Thursday is back! This week's featured movie is something newer, Easy A

Easy A stars Emma Stone as Olive, a high school student being subjected to the rumor mill. What started as a way to get out of a camping trip with her friend, Olive lied and said she was going out on a date with a college guy named George. When faced with the question of how the date when, Olive lies and says that they did it.

Overheard by the most religious person in school, Marianne (Amanda Bynes) the lie is then spread throughout the student body. Olive's friend Brandon (Dan Byrd) knows the truth but asks Olive to pretend to have sex with him so people will stop tormenting him for being gay. Once Olive agrees and pretends. The rumors begin to circulate even faster and before she can control it, the entire unpopular population of boys in school are asking her to pretend they did sexual things. However, Woodchuck Todd (Penn Badgley), Olive's old friend refuses to believe in the rumors.
Olive has to figure out how to get her good reputation back, win over the boy she actually likes and try not to get kicked out of school all at the same time. Easy A has been one of the funniest and cutest movies I've seen in a long time. Watch it!

  3. I saw this and liked it but not as much as I thought I would. It came on the heels of me seeing She's Out Of My League, which I thought was awesome, so I guess it just wasn't as good as that.

  8. I watched this movie last week. I was so surprised by how much I liked it. It's totally one of those teenage movies, but the girl in it is so likable. She was fantastic in The Rocker as well.
