Not Your Average Theater Thursday

Every Thursday, I feature a movie available on dvd. This week is a little bit different. Allow me to explain... I've featured the movie, She's the Man before as a Theater Thursday pick.
Yet, I can't get enough of this movie! If you've never seen it, watch it. I guarantee that you'll laugh. If you have seen it, then maybe you'll know what I'm talking about. Allow me to dissect my love of the movie She's the Man...
  1. Channing Tatum. He filmed this movie when he wasn't the giant movie star that he is today. This was way before Step Up, GI Joe wasn't even a hope yet and his 6 pack of abs were still almost being counted as 8. Suffice to say... he looked good.
  2. It's quotable. My friend Erica and I, we seriously quote this movie to each other all day, everyday via text messages. It's awesome and sad at the same time because we know every line to this movie. I'm going with awesome.
  3. Amanda Bynes. I'm not even a big fan of her. But in this movie she's hilarious. At certain parts she just completely gives up on doing a dude voice and I love it. I wonder if she thought as she made this movie, that her career was already going down the tubes. I don't know but either way she's hilarious as Olivia playing Sebastian.
  4. Soccer. The movie is centered about the sport soccer. It actually shows a lot of soccer being played. And Channing Tatum usually takes his shirt off while playing.
I usually end up watching this movie at least 4 or 5 times a week. No I'm not kidding and no I don't care if you think I'm insane. I have my tv on all the time anyways, I might as well have something fun playing than silence.

I seriously think this movie is hilarious. I love to quote all of the weird characters in the movie and I do like the ending. Is it too much to hope for but can we get a She's the Man 2??????????? lol
I told you. You're welcome.

My 2 New Favorite Fall Television Shows

Fall television is here! If you know me, you know I love some good tv! I've got two new favorite shows and I'm really hoping that they make it. I hate when I love a new show and then it ends up getting cancelled after a few episodes or one season. I'm still bitter about the mid season replacement, The Deep End getting cancelled awhile ago..

My two new favorite shows are already...
Terra Nova. It premiered last night with a two hour opener and for the entire two hours I was on the edge of my seat. It was sooo good. If you missed it, check it out. I feel it's kinda like Lost but not. I'm really hoping it makes it, with all the hype it was getting I wasn't sure but after watching it. I'm sold.

The next new show I'm liking is,
The Ringer. Let me preface this with I was not a Buffy fan so I didn't tune in just because of SMG. I watched the pilot and thought it was pretty intriguing. SMG, has to play two people and the roles are good. I'm hearing that it's not getting the ratings they were hoping for so I hope it ends up staying around. I want to find out what's going on with the twin being in France!

What's your new favorite show this fall season?

Just Another Manic Monday

I swear Monday's are the hardest day of the week. I need to win the lottery!
Maybe it's because the temperatures have been dropping or maybe it's just that fall is upon us but I've been in a super crafty mood lately! So I took that mood and ran with it! About two weeks ago on Pinterest, I saw this really cool craft...
It's a paper chandelier. It's made from free paint samples and an upside down, stripped lamp shade. Um.... genius! Plus it didn't cost me an arm and a leg to make it.

Craft whole punch $7.99
Double sided tape $2.99
Thread $.99
Lamp Shade $3.99

What took the most time was whole punching all of the paint samples and acquiring them. While they are free in stores such as Home Depot and Lowes among others, it's awkward taking 20 or more of each color. Let's just say I made a few trips. And before someone gets all upset about it.... Paint samples are FREE! Companies send them to these stores in an attempt to sale the paint and usually at no cost. Plus I just gave the store like 300 bucks for a new hot water heater in November so I've paid for them! Trust me!

So here's how mine turned out!
Obviously, I used different colors than the one on Pinterest but I think it turned out really well! In fact, I might even make another, bigger one! Crafting can take a lot of energy!

Dear So & So: The Bad Service Edition

Dear Comcast
I love how I turn on my television and my screen has turned black and white and the only channel that comes on every channel is now QVC. Then finally the next day when you say it's fixed and I go to turn it on... it's nothing but a blue screen. Not cool. Then you tell me you're going to show up from 9:00 am- 11:00am and then never show up. So now I've went numerous days during prime fall television without CABLE!
Screw you CSR Wayne, unplugging the box and counting to 20 did not work.

Dear Bob Evans Restaurant
I was hungry. No, let me rephrase that, I was famished. When I called in that Carry Out order that meant that I was ready for it to be done when I got there so I could take it home and dig in. I loved standing around waiting for food while complete strangers gawked at me. Then when I finally did get my order and made it back home, I was shocked to find that the bacon was raw. As in left it on the grill for maybe 20 seconds to make it feel luke warm. The potatoes were sill raw and the pancakes were burnt..... black.
Exhibit A & B
I Will be thinking twice before going there again

Dear Target,
Stock your Missoni collection again. You should have known that fashionistas would invade the store. Too bad many of them just bought clothes to sell on ebay for enormous prices.
Bitter.

Dear DMV,
When going to get your car inspected for a new inspection sticker it is important to have your registration. I gave you my money, now give me my registration. It's been 5 business days and I'm still not seeing that slip of paper in the mail. Wonder how well it would go over if that's what I said about a payment you were wanting. Oh you'll see it in 5 business days from now.
Don't pull me over because of my inspection sticker

Theater Thursday

Welcome to Theater Thursday! Around these parts, Thursday is a day to feature a good movie! This week's featured movie is, Night of the Twisters
If you remember this 1996 gem then I give you some major props. Night of the Twisters stars then hunky, teen heart throb Devon Sawa as Dan Hatch. Living in a farm town of Nebraska, Dan thinks its going to be an average boring night. His mother goes off to work and he's responsible for watching his younger brother, while hanging out with a friend.

Then an unexpected storm starts up, surprising the entire town. Twisters begin hitting the town and in unusual weather patterns. Once Dan's house is hit he's on a mission to reunite with the rest of his family and make sure everyone is safe. Unfortunately, the storms keep hitting through the night.

If you're in your mid to late twenties, this movie will definitely be a flashback for you!

Oh Baby!

This weekend was a busy one but a good one. On Saturday, I attended a baby shower. If you remember me posting about it months ago, my uncle and his wife are expecting a baby girl! Baby Olivia will be here in just a little over a month so it was time to get her some stuff to welcome her into the world!

Among the many things that we got her, my favorite was this...
Why yes, that would be a whale tub! As soon as I saw it at Target, I knew we had to get it for her! I thought it was so freaking cute! In fact... it even gave me a few minutes of baby fever. Ekk!

Would you believe this is on the only photo from the shower that I took...
Obviously, I have my priorities! Let them eat cake!

All in all, it was a good weekend! Now if only I'd get the call saying it's moving time!

Theater Thursday

Theater Thursday is here and this week's featured movie is... The Sandlot
The Sandlot is one of the best baseball movies ever.... FOREVER.

While I was in San Francisco, I attended a Giants game. In between one of the innings they announced a poll that had been done al la Family Fued style. The poll was, name the most memorable baseball movie. Among all of them, the number one spot went to The Sandlot.

Watch it. Enough said. This movie needs no synopsis.

Weekend Review

A big thank you to everyone who reached out to me and commented on my last post. I deeply appreciate all the positive thinking and well wishes.

On Friday I set out to find a new black purse. Since 2007, I had a go to black leather bag. That thing was amazing. It was comfortable to carry, it could hold everything and it went with everything. While I was in Memphis for Elvis Week, I accidently and unknowingly caught the leather on something and it ripped it. I was so sad when I realized it because I'd had that bag forever.

Well with fall and winter on the way, I needed to find a suitable replacement. I found this little gem...
It was hard deciding because there was a second black bag that I loved but was made by Jessica Simpson and since I loathe (yes... loathe) her I knew I had to go with this one. I carried it on Saturday and I love it! It's perfect for the fall and winter!

On Saturday, I went to a soccer game. It was only for an hour but the sun came out for the first time all week. It was also Marshall University's first home game of the season. I'm happy to say that they won! Go herd

I also took advantage of Border's going out of business sale. I'll be sad to see them go but at the same time I got some major loot for about 60 dollars! The savings at the bottom of my ticket said 190.00 dollars. Hmm... their books were always a little pricey....
As you can probably tell, I've got some major travel fever and planning ahead of me. If you've ever been to any of these places especially Hawaii, Spain, Italy and Germany please give me all the details you can. I'm especially looking for information on hotels, restaurants and sights! Please and thank you

Sunday brought the 10th Anniversary of 9/11. I don't think I've ever shared my story of where I was on that fateful day on here. Septemeber 11, 2001, I was a senior in high school. I had just sat down in my accounting class when someone rushed in and said turn on the television. Our student teacher turned on the tv and that's when we saw the first tower in flames. We sat watching for a minute not knowing if it was an accident or what? Then we saw a plane come in and hit the second tower. That's when everything changed. Never forget.

Why You Crossed Your Fingers & Why I Want to Cry.

On Tuesday, I asked for all the positive vibes and good luck out there to be sent my way. I had something big happening. I haven't really talked about it on the ol' blog recently but I feel it's time I lay it all out there. Maybe it's because I feel a little superstitious about it. Know what I mean? Anyways, let me explain...

At the end of last year, I knew this year was going to bring a lot of changes in my life. I was more than OK with that, I was welcoming it with open arms and ready for it to happen. I knew one of two things was going to happen, either I was going to be getting a different job within my same agency I already work for or I was going to be putting in my transfer and moving. When things fell through with the job that I had hoped for, I immediatly put in the transfer. I was and am ready to pack up everything I own and move over 2,500 miles away to the opposite side of the country.

I put my transfer request in at the beginning of March and it was accepted. Great. Then the months start to roll along and they keep rolling along. Well what I didn't know or realize at the time is that there has to be an open spot for me to go into. Which really means you have to wait for them to call you and tell you your move date and new start date at the transfer location. So I've been waiting...... and waiting. Then I found out that I could increase my chances of getting out to California by adding two more locations I was willing to transfer to so I put in two more transfer requests to different cities within the state.

I first thought I'd be moved and living in California by August. Well... August came and went and it was mentally challenging and frustrating. I'd call each location and check on the status of the transfer and I'd get the same answers. The vauge, "Well it's not looking like right now but you might want to check back in a few weeks" response. It was starting to drive me insane. I started getting desperate. I kept praying to the heavens above that it would come through. I asked everyone I knew to wish it and will it to happen. I even called up my two hardcore Catholic friends and asked them to light candles for me, no joke.

And then on Monday, I got news that I would know on Tuesday whether or not it was going to happen soon as in September or October. My stomach went into knots. I alerted my closests friends and pleaded to the sky, Please... Please let me get good news.

Nothing....
Absolutely nothing....

Tuesday came and went. I think I drove our HR person insane. I kept asking for updates almost every 30 minutes. The day ended without a phone call and I went home let down and defeated. But then I guessed no news was better than bad news. Now I sit, waiting to hear when it'll be my turn to pick up and move. It's both mentally challenging and frustrating. There's some days that I think I'll go insane from the waiting and not knowing but that's all I can do. It could be today, it could be tomorrow. It could be a month from now or three months from now. It could be in 5 minutes. It could be....

Wednesday came and went. Thursday came and went. And as of right now I haven't heard anything today either.

So I sit and I wait.

So I ask all of you now, whether you've been reading my blog since the beginning or you've just started or stumbled across it. Put out just a few good vibes and wishes for me that it happens soon. That I get my request and that I'm living in sunny California. I need all the good karma I can get.

Theater Thursday

It's Thursday and that can only mean one thing around here... It's Theater Thursday
This week's featured movie is, Big Business.
Big Business is about two sets of twins with one of each set being given to the wrong parents. On a trip through West Virginia, the rich Moramax company owners from NYC get a surprise when their baby is born early and it turns out to be twins. At the same time in the hospital, a W.V. couple is giving birth to their set of twins.

When the Sheldon's decide to name their babies Rose (Lilly Tomlin) and Sadie (Bette Midler), the W.V. couple who overhears them likes the names so much they name their children that as well, knowing that they'll never see them again in their lives. What they don't know is that the nurse accidently gave them one each of the wrong children.

Years later, once they've grown up Sadie and Rose of NYC are running the family company and are preparing to sell the WV company that their father acquired when they were born. At the same time the Sadie and Rose of WV are trying to put a stop to those same plans. What it all comes down to is a giant collision in NYC when the WV girls hit the big town and end up staying at the same hotel for the weekend.

This movie is a 1980's classic. If you've never seen it, you'll be sure to get a good laugh out of it.

Friday Confessional

Today is the last day to enter my giveaway !!
-I am SO excited to hear that a Ghostbusters 3 movie is actually going to happen! Everyone from the first movie has signed on so far with the exception of Bill Murray. I'm really hoping he'll join in because it won't be the same without him!

-I love my mom's blog! She hasn't been blogging long but her posts are always so fun to read. Check her out and show her some blog love.

-When the year started, I had three goals. One of them was to read 50 books in a year. I had slacked off a little bit during the summer because I was so busy but in the last few weeks I've been reading more. I'm currently starting on reading book number 29. Hopefully, I can do it!

-I officially hate the TPMS (tire pressure measuring system) dashboard light on my car. It comes on alllll the time, no matter if it's the tiniest bit of air missing. Annoying.
