So Long, Farewell

Tomorrow is the day!
15 months after requesting a transfer, I am packed up. The truck is loaded with all of my worldly possessions and we are hitting the road. The drive to my new home of Sacramento will be 2,583 miles.
We've decided to break the drive into five days. We haven't set all of the stops in stone because basically we'll be seeing how we feel each day and how much longer we can stand to be on the road and in the car. I know we're shooting for St. Louis, Missouri for that first night. That's around 8-9 hours of driving and with a truck and car that's a lot of driving.

Some people may ask, why not take the northern route? Well from what I've heard from a few people who've driven across the country before, with a truck it can be slow going once you hit the mountains. The northern route also makes me wonder about the frequency of gas stations. Want to know how many miles to the gallon the moving truck gets? Oh that would be a whopping 8-10 miles. No wonder the price of everything is rising! It's the truck gas we're all paying for now. So the southern route it is then!

During this drive, I wish for 3 things...
1. I wish for us to get there safely and without any incidents of sickness or thefts.
2. I wish for mental piece. I hope to feel 100% confident in the choices that are being made. I'm really close to 100% but with such big life changes, I assume there's always that little bit of doubt that creeps inside.
3. To see some of the USA and make a memory that will last forever.

Catch all of you on the flip side! West Coast Bound!!

Theater Thursday

It's Thursday and that can only mean one thing, it's Theater Thursday! This week's featured movie is, Gidget Goes Hawaiian.
Gidget (Deborah Walley) is a California girl who has her last two weeks of summer all planned out. Unbeknownst to her, her parents have planned a luxurious trip to Hawaii. When Gidget finds out she's so upset that her parents can't believe it. When she tells her steady boyfriend Jeff (James Darren) about it, he's all for her going. In turn that makes Gidget even more upset because she feels like he doesn't want to spend time with her.

Gidget decides to break up with Jeff aka Moondoggie before the trip and heads to Hawaii with her parents. On the plane over she means some new friends and they begin to have a good time on the island. Mean while, Jeff has been sitting at home thinking about Gidget and decides to surprise her by showing up in Hawaii. Plus the fact that Gidget's dad sends for him helps out.
When Jeff arrives in Hawaii, he finds Gidget in a compromising position with entertainer named Eddie (Michael Callan). From then on out it becomes a game of Gidget flirting with Eddie and Jeff flirting with another girl in the group. The entire gang can't figure out what's going on since they all have no clue that Jeff is Gidget's ex-boyfriend.
One thing for sure... it's definitely an entertaining time in Hawaii. If you've never seen this great classic movie, then you must watch it today!

Down to the Wire

Yep that's me on the inside right now.

I've been a steaming hot mess. There's the packing, trying to close on the house, the fact that I'm suppose to leave this weekend to move across the country. Figuring out all of the financials, getting utilities turned on, booking hotels along the way...

The list goes on and on my friends.

I've also learned that not only am I already poor, I'll now be destitute once I move. Moving isn't cheap and moving across the country doesn't make it any less expensive. Also buying a house is not cheap at all.....

Like I might be so poor now that I can't have cable. As in I may not have internet either. Ek! Let's all keep our fingers crossed that I can figure it out. I feel like I might be scouting out an extra part time job once I get there.

Sunday Social

Sunday Social
Today I'm linking up with Ashley and participating in Sunday Social! I always love the fun topics that they come up with. I also love the fact that it's getting people (including myself) to blog on a Sunday!

1. If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Breakfast foods. I know, I know... it's not just one food but I love breakfast foods. I love bisquits, bacon, hash browns, pancakes, waffles, sausage and eggs. Need I even mention my love of hash brown casserole?!? I'll eat it any time of the day too. There's something about breakfast for dinner that makes it even better.
2. What's your guilty pleasure/comfort food?
Potatoes. As long as their not mashed then I'll eat them. I love french fries, tater tots, baked potatoes, fried and scallop. I could eat them all day, everyday but that would definitely wouldn't be good for my pant size.
3. What's the weirdest/craziest thing you've ever eaten?
Escargot. I was studying abroad and we were in France. The study abroad professor decided that we all needed to experience a true French meal so we were all forced to go to this really nice restaurant and eat food that we really weren't too interested in eating/trying. I made it through a half of one of these and called it quits. If I remember correctly, we all went home hungry that night.
4. What foods do you avoid at all costs?
Anything with too much garlic. I also avoid things with dressing and sauces. I am not a fan of sauce at all. On pizza, I like very little sauce. When I go to Italian food places, I get something that doesn't have meat sauce or red sauces. I'm just not a fan. Gag!
5. What meal reminds you of your childhood?
Tater Tots. I can remember my mom getting up on Saturday mornings and making them for me while I watched cartoons and morning shows like California Dreams and SBTB!
6. Share one of your favorite recipes and the story behind it.
My mom's blondies. What's a blondie? Butterscotch brownies. They are soooo good! I've shared the recipe on here before but I'll find it again and post it!
Have a great Sunday!

It Starts Within

Lately I've had a lot of anxiety, fear and negative thoughts enter my life. I need to remember that I have everything inside me that I need to succeed. I need to block out everything that is going on in my life and focus on myself and remember that, I CAN DO THIS! It's time to remember the positives.

Need some motivation? Here's a few of mine to help you along...

Look At Me!

For those of you who only read blogs through google reader, it's time for you to come out and actually see my page!

I have a new look!

The fabulous and talented Meg O. is responsible for this look and I think it turned out great! She was so easy to work with and answered all of my nagging questions. She took the time to ask me questions, find out what I did/did not like and didn't stop working till I was completely satisfied.

I think it turned out great. If you're looking for a new look then she's definitely your girl.

You can find her blog here and all about her blog designing here

I completely recommend her to everyone. In fact, I'm trying to get back on her wait list for another blog's design to be done!

An Ugly Word: Stress

In the last few weeks, I have experienced feeling a large amount of stress. I think that it's normal considering the situation that I'm currently going through...

I'm working 5-6 days a week.
I'm trying to pack all of my belongings to move.
I had to figure out and reserve a moving truck.
I'm trying to close on a new home.
I'm reviewing, faxing, emailing, signing said home documents everyday.
I am going through yearly tests at work.
I'm watching my savings account slowly dwindle (nothing is cheap folks).

Yesterday the stress shot through the roof. One of the above mentioned things went completely down hill and I had a breakdown. Like sobs came out of me.

That was yesterday.

Now I have to get back up on the horse and just try to keep moving forward. I have to keep boxing things up, I have to keep signing documents and I have to pass tests.

I must do this.
I can do this.
