The King of all Media

Ok, so hear me out on this one.

At Christmas I was given Sirius XM Radio for my car. I was beyond happy because that's what I had asked Santa for. It came with a subscription package and from the moment I turned it on, I was excited about being the car. Then it came time for me to set my 5 favorite channels and since there's over 150 channels it made it a hard decision. These are my favorites:
1. Pop2K
2. Kiis Los Angeles
3. Howard Stern 100
4. Elvis Radio
5. 90's on 9
Of course I listen to other stations like The Blend, Z100, The Love Channel and more but there was one that I can't help but always see what's going on it....
Howard Stern on Howard 100. Have you heard him on the radio? Have you seen him on television? I know a lot of people have very strong opinions about him but personally.... I like him. I started listening to his show every morning on the way to work and then catching the repeats later in the day. Let me tell you, he's hilarious. He's self deprecating. He doesn't think of himself about others, he's got a ton of cash (I mean literally I bet he could burn cash at night to stay warm) but you'd never know it from the way he interacts with people.

I also like the fact that besides covering his daily life he also covers the news and has celebrities come on the show. This man can get anyone to talk about what they least want to talk about and for most of the celebrities it's their sex life or how they screwed something up with drugs, drinking or other idiot decisions.
Then there's his whole crew including Robin Quivers (who's the voice of reason), Gary, Ronnie the limo driver and a few more. They add a lot to the show and you can tell from the banter than Howard and all of them have a great time doing the show.

I've become so interested in them that I bought the dvd Private Parts and watched it for the first time a week ago. I thought it was really good, now if he'd do another movie that would be great. So much has happened in his life since that movie came out (1997). And I have to admit, I'm thinking about even starting to watch America's Got Talent just because he's the new judge on there this season. I've never seen the show but he's been talking about the auditions a lot on the show.

Anyways, if you've never listened to Howard and you've got Sirius XM, check him out! Also if you've got Sirius xm radio, what channels do you mostly listen to?

My Mom Always Told Me...

When you want something in life, you should go for it.

No matter how unattainable you think it may be, go for it! I believe you have to try. If you don't then you may always wonder what if and I'm sorry but life is too short to wonder.
A weeks ago, I was online looking at local jobs. I came across a radio personality spot for the hottest channel and morning show and it instantly sparked my curiosity to apply. I typed up my cover letter, put my resume in the envelope and mailed it. I figured what's the harm in applying. I may lack experience in radio but I've got enough wit and enough personality to hang with the best of them. Plus... hello, it would be so much fun!

As the days since apply keep ticking by, I'm seeing that they may not be calling me. I mean I get that I have no experience in radio but I do have other qualifications. I did earn a 4 year degree from Marshall University. I'm a home town girl and know the city! I'm up on pop culture, current events, social networking outlets (hello have you seen my tweets?) and I've got the gift of the gab. I can make conversation with the wall if I needed to. Doesn't all that count for something?

I once heard about a man who stood on a street corner with all his qualification wrote down on a sign and asking for a job. When it came to the end of the day, he'd got over 100 job inquires and multiple offers. Currently it's too cold outside or I'd seriously consider going over and standing outside their offices with a poster board telling them how rad I really am. I'm not above pulling a  John Cusack circa Say Anything for something I want.

So here's the deal. WKEE if you ever read this, call me for an interview! I may not look the greatest on paper in the experience department but a resume says nothing when it comes to personality, dependability, drive and social skills!
Want to help me score an interview? Get ahold of them and tell them how awesome I am! You can reach them via twitter, or facebook !

My New Favorite Thing!

I had a great discovery this past weekend. I had been hearing about an iphone application called iheartradio but never really gave it much though. Friday, I finally gave in and downloaded it. Um, hello! I fell in love! It's amazing!
It allows you to basically listen to any radio station within the United States. Since Friday, that's all I've been listening to in the car. I also discovered that there's a Christmas in July station and since all of you know how much I love Christmas... guess what I've been listening to! It's totally got me wanting to go Christmas shopping and stringing up lights. I'm attending a Christmas in July party tonight so that should help hold me over!

What I also love about it, is that I can listen to L.A's 102.7 KISS FM. It's no secret that when I went to California earlier in the summer that I loved it and had a great time. I've also made it no secret that I want to live there. So when I realized I can listen to my favorite L.A. radio station I was very excited! I also get to hear the local commercials (which I usually hate) and hear their local news. It's amazing and it makes me wish I was driving on the 101 instead of my local highway.

If you don't already have the application on your phone.... get it, you'll love it!
