Five on Friday

1. Wednesday night Beezy and I headed to the Kings Game. They took on the Memphis Grizzlies and lost. The kings need to get it together. Its like they'll win two or three games and then lose and lose. They did announce the new stadium this week so that's something.
And then I decided to act silly at the game...

2. The week before Christmas Nike released a special edition pair of Jordan shoes. Apparently once they release shoes that's it. They become something called Dead Stock because they'll never have them out in stores again. Well... beezy really wanted these shoes. He couldn't get them in Sacramento because the stores were crazy with people. I tried to get them while I was in West Virginia since the crowds would probably be smaller. Nope! I tried and tried and no one had them and in his size. Well after scouring the internet and getting the help of friends for over a month.... I got the shoes.

3. I made a Chocolate Cream Pie for the first time. The people who ate it said that it tasted good so I hope they weren't lying.

4. I'm working on another yarn wreath. This one is for Easter. I'm also thinking of making them for every holiday coming up. I'm also thinking of making a balloon wreath. Has anyone made those or know how?

5. I've made major progress with Tesco the cat. He's finally starting to come around some when I'm in his presence. If you want to know more about Tesco you can find him on Instagram at Tescothecat.

Theater Thursday

It's Thursday and that can only mean one thing around here... it's Theater Thursday! This week's featured movie is, Father of the Bride.
Father of the Bride stars Steve Martin as husband, friend and father George Banks. He can't believe it but his daughter Annie (Kimberly Williams) is getting married. Annie has just returned from finishing college and being in Europe on an internship. She's returned with the happy news but to George he's in shock and doesn't think she's making the right decision because of how young she is. Her mother, Nina (Diane Keaton) is also in shock but happy for the young couple.

Annie and her fiancé Bryan (George Newbern) are planning a wedding and since it's customary for the Brides family to pay for the wedding George and Nina drive from their middle class neighborhood into Bel Air, a more upscale area of town. When they realize the MacKenzie family might be a little bit more well off than themselves. George is thinking a smaller wedding for his daughter but when Bryan's side says the guest list is almost 300 he realizes those dreams are out the window.

As the wedding expenses grows, George's nerves become more and more strained. Annie and Bryan begin to bicker over wedding expenses and things in their relationship. Nina and George start to fight over it. As the wedding gets closer and closer things start getting crazy in the Banks residence. Will Annie make it down the isle? Will George lose his mind and his wallet in the process? Watch and see?

I love this 1991 classic! It was a re-make of an older film.

A Not So Wordless Wednesday

The look I give people when they try to one up me...

When a girl tries to throw shade at me...

When haters keep talking...

When I'm tired and don't have time for peoples nonsense...

At the end of my day...

Flashing Some Skin

I've got two beach vacations planned for this year. I'm going to Puerto Rico in March and Hawaii in July. I've also got a Las Vegas trip too but I don't have dates for it yet. Since I'm going to tropical places, I'm going to need some great bathing suits. I scoured the internet for hours hitting up my usual places: Victoria Secret, Venus Swimwear, Ebay and then I found Unique Vintage. That's when it happened. Love at first sight.

If you know me or if you've been reading for awhile then you know I love all things vintage. The bathing suits are gorgeous on their site! I love the pin up look of them. These two are the ones I'm wanting to get for my beach adventures. They seem so Marilyn Monroe to me.
Seriously I envision myself sitting on the Hawaiian sand sitting there soaking up the sun wearing these bathing suits and shading my face with this hat...

Should I mention the fact that each one of these swimsuits is at least 75.00 dollars or higher in price? No? Yeah I didn't think so either. Hey... we only live once! I also love this one for the fact that it would be awesome at a July 4th pool party...
I just love the look! I think they are fabulous. It brings back that old world charm of the era. I have visions of wearing these, instagraming photos and being like Marilyn Monroe and Betty Garble on vacation. The suits show off skin without being too flashy. To me they just embody classy while sun bathing. Oh hey... Unique Vintage if you're reading these I'd love to wear one of these beauties.

So what do you think? Cute? Where do you find your bathing suits?

Weekend Review

I've really been working on what I've been eating. I knew going into this year that I really wanted to focus on my eating habits and working out. I'm happy to report the past two weeks, I've been eating better. I've consumed more fruit and vegetables and got my fill of protein. I've even working out on my treadmill a few times now. Am I still eating other food that I probably shouldn't? Yep. BUT I'm eating it in less quantities and I'm aware of that.

This was a nice snack...
I've tried four different flavors of Quest Bars and this has been my favorite one so far. The Double Chocolate Chunk. It's only 160 calories, has less than 1 gram of sugar and 20 grams of protein. Now that's a protein bar people. I've also become obsessed with the song...
It seriously kept me going on the treadmill the other day. I had originally heard it at the Kings game but never knew what song it was until last week when I was in the car it came on. I love it! I always have the beat stuck in my head.

I'm still trying to make friends with this cat. His name is Tesco. I've learned if I brush him he'll at least sit there and pretend to like me.

I bought two more owls at the craft store. Beezy and I turned them into Elvis and his number one fan. Beezy did the Elvis one and I was very impressed. He portrayed him in the famous Rainfall jumpsuit.

Speaking of the Kings. I went to the Kings game on Friday night. They played the Indiana Pacers. The Kings have been on a good playing streak and they played a great game. They lost it by only a few points in overtime.
Now it's Monday and I'm already ready for the weekend! Can someone I know win the lottery and give me a million. I think I could make that last long enough!

Theater Thursday

It's Thursday and that can only mean one thing around here... it's Theater Thursday! This week's featured movie is, The Princess Bride.
Believe it or not, I had never seen this movie until recently. Honestly, I hadn't had any plans of seeing it either. I wasn't actively trying to watch it but when a friend kept pushing it I finally caved. I bought this movie at Target and the cashier looked at the cover of the dvd and immediately perked right up. The movie brought him out of his daze and when he started telling me how great a movie it is, I let him in on the fact that I had never seen it. His immediate response to me, "Inconceivable!"

The guy behind me in the line was about the same age as the cashier and he started the movie quotes too... "As you wish." Now if you've seen the movie you get both of these quotes but since I hadn't seen the movie, I didn't get it. Now that I've watched it, I totally get the quotes but it also made me realize those guys were total cult fans of the film. Which is perfectly ok. I'm sure if someone held up Romancing the Stone, I'd geek out and start quotes Joan Wilder. Now on to the movie plot...

The Princess Bride stars Cary Elwes as Wesley, a farm hand who falls in love with (Robin Wright) the lady of the farm. To everything she asks of him his reply is always, "As you wish". Eventually they fall in love and never want to be separated. However, to marry Buttercup he leaves to find his riches and goes out on a ship. When Buttercup hears word that his ship was attacked by a pirate who is known to never leave anyone alive she believes he is dead. Five years later she agrees to marry Prince Humperdinck. That's when everything goes crazy wrong.

Buttercup is taken hostage and the person she least expected comes to her rescue. Along the way she will have to go through a lot of challenges and maybe we haven't seen the last of Wesley just yet. I don't want to ruin the movie for anyone so watch it! It's funny and cute and a cult classic.

Randomly Me

1. I buy those bulk packages of toilet paper. I fear having to #2 and having no toilet paper.
2. I could eat bacon for breakfast every. single. day. Probably not the healthiest thing but whatever.
3. I'm trying to eat better. This entails wheat bread. Carrots, grapes and protein bars that taste like turds (even though I've never tried a turd).
4. I loathe taking out the trash. Every Monday night on my drive home from work, I remember that it's trash day and cry a little bit on the inside. HA!
5. Every time National Treasure 1 or 2 is on television, I watch them.
6. I'm cold about 98.9% of the time. Even in the summer. Except when I'm roasting on random days of 115 degree heat.
7. I try to pretend I'm a patient person. I am not. I am the most impatient person ever. I want it and I want it now.
8. When I laugh really hard, I think I make the biggest laugh face.
9. I love Elvis. I think if I would have been alive back then that I would have been his girlfriend. Suck it Priscilla.
10. I'm obsessed with French bulldogs. I want one. I want one bad.

Weekend Review

This weekend, I finally went and saw American Hustle.
It was a really good movie and I can see why it's been nominated for so many awards. Jennifer Lawrence as always was great. Bradley Cooper with his perm was hilarious. I don't know what it is about Christian Bale but I can't stand him in anything he works on.

I was able to finish a Valentines Day wreath that I had been working on.

I ate at the Cheesecake Factory. I hadn't been to one in years since I was in Washington D.C.
I know I'm going to go against the grain on this one but I'm always unimpressed by their food. Granted I don't eat Cheesecake so I've never had theirs but the food itself... eh, I feel like I could get the same from another chain restaurant.

I also booked another vacation was booked. I'll be going to San Juan, Puerto Rico in March! If you've ever been there please give me your suggestions.

I can't wait! It's been awhile since I've been out of the country so it's going to be a fun time. I also plan on getting on the beach! Now I need to work out everyday until then. It's less than 60 days away. That's a happy Monday!

Five on Friday

1. I tried to make a new friend this week...
His name is Tesco and he's a cat. I'm more of a small dog person but I'm branching out.

2. I crafted. Valentine's Day is right around the corner and when I saw these little guys I knew I had to get them. They come plain white and you can color them any way you want. All that's pre-determined on them is the outline of their bodies and the heart on their chest.
I can't take credit for the tux one, Beezy did that one. If you want to get your own, you can find them at the arts and crafts store, Michaels.

3. Speaking of Valentines Day, I was at Ikea last week and found these adorable heart frames...
I bought two for my foyer table and their so festive. I love them. I kind of want to go buy two more.

4. I confess... I still have a Christmas tree up. Yep. I'm decorating for Valentines Day with a tree still up. In my defense it is a beach theme tree and I do live in the warm state of California. Is that acceptable?
Does anyone else still have a tree up? Or am I the only hold out left?

5. I watched True Lies yesterday and remembered how much I love this movie.
Tom Arnold, Jamie Lee Curtis and Arnold are hilarious in it. Since Arnold is making all these re-make movies, I wish he'd do a sequel to True Lies. I know Tom Arnold is on board because I Nancy Drew'd it up all over the internet to find an article talking about how he'd be willing to do a second one as long as Arnold was on board. Get it Arnold. Get it!

Theater Thursday

It's Thursday and that can only mean one thing around here... it's Theater Thursday! This week's featured movie is, Wieners.
Wieners stars  Kenan Thompson as Wyatt. His dream is to own his own a hugely popular hot dog business. He gets a van and spends his entire savings on making it look like a hot dog and efficient enough to go out on a drive across the country to give out free hot dogs. He figures that way he can get people interested in his wieners. To be able to do this he enlists the help of his two best friends: Ben (Zachary Levi) and Joel (Fran Kranz).

However, the hardest challenge might not be getting his wiener business off the ground but getting his friend Joel to go along with him. He's suffering from relationship break-up depression. Wyatt and Ben team up to try and get him to go. They even go as far as to trick him because he's in that phase of never wanting to leave the house or get out of his sweats. Once all three of the guys are in the wiener van, they head out on an adventure.

Wyatt has mapped out towns that he thinks would be great to give out his hot dogs. Along the way the three guys have adventures that they didn't bargain and childhood memories come flooding back. They also stop along the way to see one of their old school teachers (played by Jenny McCarthy).

So will Wyatt hit it big in the hot dog market? Will him and his two friends still be best friends at the end of the trip? Watch and find out! I'm not going to lie... I had this movie sitting on my shelf for months waiting to be watched. Honestly, I thought it sounded dumb and not like something I'd want to watch. Once I watched it, I thought it was funny. It definitely made me laugh.

30 Before 30

29. Get a house plant and keep it alive.

On Saturday, I headed to Ikea for a little shopping trip. I had picked up an Aloe plant there about a year ago so I knew they had a few live plants. The Aloe plant from a year ago is no longer alive because apparently I don't have a green thumb. When I looked over their plant selection, I decided to go ahead and get another house plant. This time I went with an Elephant Foot Palm. It won't require as much watering and it doesn't need direct sunlight.
It's name is Dumbo. Now the trick will be to keep it alive. I know these can get really big but I've been assured that won't be for years. Look how big these things get...
I'll keep you updated on Dumbo...

Weekend Review

This past weekend I got everything at my house in place. When I came back to California from being in West Virginia for the holidays, I knew I wanted to finally bite the bullet and buy a new couch. I had been researching and looking online and in ads for weeks. I knew that I wanted a gray sectional and in microfiber. A few days before I had left for WV, I got an ad in the mail that had a perfect one in it. I looked it up online in West Virginia and loved it. I contacted the store to see if they had it in the style that I wanted and they did for a reasonable price.

Last week, I finally went to the store, found the couch, sat down on it and loved it. I bought it right then and had to wait the week for it to be delivered.
I love how it ended up looking in my living room. Now I just want to find a new area rug that will bring my red bucket chairs to my gray couch. The hunt is on! I think I can find one fairly soon but we shall see. I'm saving my money for vacations.

The next new piece of furniture I got was a foyer table. For Christmas I was gifted the Khloe Foyer table from World Market. I had been wanting this table for over a year. I tried to buy it myself a few months ago but they were sold out in store and I was so worried they were going to discontinue it before I could get it. So when I got it for the holiday, I was pretty excited.

The next thing that had to get set up was my treadmill. Getting the treadmill should be a short story but it isn't. See... here's what happened, Santa bought me a treadmill but since I went back to West Virginia for Christmas it had to be purchased and shipped after Christmas since I needed it to be sent to California. Well the treadmill was ordered and I sat at home all day waiting on it to come like it was suppose to. Long story short, I called UPS and they said they had never received the package. A treadmill is hard to lose. So we contacted Amazon and they basically said, OH YEAH we didn't tell you but it sold out and we don't have one to fulfill your order so we've cancelled it and we're going to give you the money back. Gee thanks.

So the search for a new treadmill continued. We found one and placed the order. It would arrive in 3-4 days. The next day a treadmill shows up.... the one that they said they didn't have to fulfill the first order. Umm..... what the heck? So I waited around and two days later my second treadmill showed up. I put that one together and now it's rocking! And when I say, "I" put it together, I really mean I made Beezy put it together for me while I watched.
I've already used it once and let me tell you a manual treadmill is no joke. You are always at an incline and it's your own legs that propel the belt. I'm tired from just saying all that. Sheesh! But it's about working on my fitness so that's what I'm doing. I ended the weekend by watching the Sacramento Kings beat the Orlando Magic with none other than Beezy. Maybe next year I'll get my own season tickets so he can take someone else instead of me hijacking his tickets all year long. Ha!
How was your weekend?
