Our Holiday/Maternity Photos

I was strictly against doing a full on maternity photo session. This is the heaviest I have ever been in my life so I wasn't too excited to document it in a ton of photographs. When the holidays rolled around, I had been wanting to take photos for our Christmas card. While our photographer who did our wedding wasn't available to do them in time to use for our Christmas card, he was able to do it before the holiday. We turned it into a holiday/maternity shoot.

My husband has been thrilled this entire time that we are having a baby and he was so excited to do these photos and be included.

 

I think they turned out really nice! We had gotten engaged 3 years earlier at the Capitol Christmas tree so it was very fitting that we returned for these photos. We got lucky that it wasn't raining and wasn't terribly cold considering this was in the middle of December.

Saying Goodbye to Arco

On Saturday, April 9th we said goodbye to the Arco Arena. If you are a fan of basketball or follow the Sacramento Kings then you know this has been home to the Sacramento Kings for decades. Next year the Kings will be moving to their newly built arena in downtown. So on Saturday with a sold out arena we bid farewell to an era.

 

 

 

 

The Kings played the Oklahoma City Thunder and won at the final buzzer. It was a great way to say goodbye to the arena. We have been season ticket holders since the first year we started dating. All of our first dates and hang outs were at this arena together. So it's bittersweet to say goodbye to it. We have tons of memories in our relationship there and while we are excited to make new ones in the new arena we are a little sad to leave the old place behind. But hey, we will always have our engagement photos that were taken there!

Weekend Review

We had a very busy weekend! On Friday, I got a nasty stomach bug and didn't think I was going to leave the house all weekend. Then thankfully by Saturday afternoon, I was able to leave the house. On Saturday we hit up our first Sacramento Kings game of the season. The game was against Portland and it was their second pre-season game. The Kings will always have a special place in my heart since that's where Beezy and I first started hanging out a lot.

We didn't keep our season tickets this year for the Kings since we are paying for our wedding but we are thinking about them for the new arena that will be done in 2016. Incase you missed our Kings engagement photos...

 

On Sunday, we headed to Oakland for the Raiders game against Denver. Remember a few weeks ago when I posted about how I thought they were threatening to climb out of the cellar? Well... just disregard it because they aren't. They've shut the cellar door and thrown away the key. They are now 2-3 and it's not looking pretty. They just need to win! We did have fun tailgating though...

 

Beezy made tri-tip and hot dogs. I'm pretty for sure we will be eating tri-tip for the next few days. It was yummy!

 

 

Luckily our seats are in the shade the majority of the game.

 

Now it's back to reality and back to work. We have another long week of work and then another busy weekend of Wedding planning coming!

Weekend Review

On Friday, I came home after a long day of work to a new Fitbit band from Beezy. I've been wearing the pink one I got since Christmas so it was a really nice change. This one seems very Spring/Summer.

 

We also went out to dinner and celebrate because the house finally got some offers and went into contract with one of the bidders! We are finally in contact and can move forward with our new home and getting out of our current one. We are so thankful. I really have to credit it to Saint Joseph. We buried him exactly as the instructions stated and read the prayer card. We believed, we asked him every day to bring us a buyer. The day after we buried him we started getting tons of showing. In the 5 days that we had him buried we had more showings than the other 21 days it was on the market. Then we had two people buyers who really wanted the house. We went with the best one and now we are in contract. I am so thankful and so is Beezy. I'm going to continue to thank Saint Joseph for his blessings.

On Saturday, we headed to West Sacramento to see a River Cats game...

We have been to the field before but not for an actual game. We had been there and on the field for the July 4th celebration but had never gone to a game. We went with about 10 people from Beezy's family and it was a lot of fun. The game went into extra innings but the Sacramento River Cats pulled out a win!

On Saturday, I also had another makeup trial done. The first girl that I had gone to did an OK job on my make up but I didn't like how she did my hair at all. I also didn't like the fact that she was cussing up a storm for the entire 2 hours that she did my hair and makeup. I mean really... we had just met and who wants to hear someone cussing every three words on their wedding day? No one. So I had another make up trial with a different person. This girl however, only does make up. I know her pretty well because she was in Puerto Rico with us last March. Now we are searching for a hair person!

Sunday, I booked our tickets to the Elvis Exhibit in Las Vegas, Nevada. 

It just opened this past week and I can't wait! I'm so glad that we got our tickets because the Saturday that we are there, they only had one time slot left open. That's how fast it's selling out. We also had a limited time frame of when we could walk through the exhibit because of our Britney Spears tickets and the fight. The exhibit is taking place at the Westgate which use to be the Las Vegas Hilton which was originally the International where Elvis first started his performances. SO excited! It's going to be a great weekend trip.

We spent the rest of Sunday getting the house ready to go for the inspections and the appraisal. The countdown is on and our fingers are crossed!

The Good Guys

I've lived in Sacramento going on three years now. I grew up on the east coast and have seen a lot of major news events. Some things cross the country in news and in the 1990's news was very different than what it is nowadays. Major event's like the O.J. Simpson car chase is one thing that went across the country. We were all glued to the television as it unfolded LIVE! So when I heard about an incident that happened in 1991, I was intrigued. I became even more intrigued once I learned that it happened right here in Sacramento.

It all started at the brand new, just opened the weekend before The Good Guys store.

 

The Good Guys had just opened in South Sacramento. It was April 4th and they were having this huge sale. The store was surprisingly busy for a weekday probably due to the sale and the fact that the store was new to the area. It was around 2:00 p.m. when four young Vietnamese men entered the store. They were armed with hand guns and one shot gun. The men ranged in age from 17-21 years old. They proceeded to gather all of the customers and employees into a group at the front of the store and locked them in the store. The group of customers and employees was over 40 people and included men, women and children. Luckily, before the doors were locked and everyone herded to the front, a few people escaped and phone calls were made to 911 to alert the police that a "robbery" was happening.

The police immediately got on the scene but at this point the young men were already talking to the police and had a list of demands. With the door locked and only one other way into the store they were pretty much hunkered down and secure inside the store. The gunmen immediately demanded bulletproof vests, 4 million dollars and 1,000 year old Ginseng roots. They also wanted a 50 person helicopter to take them to Thailand. The negotiators couldn't get a clear idea of what they wanted because their demands constantly kept changing. They were able to give them vests in exchange for some of the hostages. Since the gunmen had moved everyone to the front of the store, it placed the hostages in front of two large, glass doors. Media ascended on the scene almost before the police. They caught the entire scene on live television.

Eight hours into the incident, the gunmen shot a 22 year old hostage in the leg and released him in exchange for telling the media exactly what they wanted. The gunmen had instructed him to tell the world they were on a suicide mission and bring light to the troubles of their homeland. Police knew they had to do something so they entered the building from the rear and simultaneously shot one of the gunmen through the glass in the front of the building. One gunman was able to get away from the gunfire and began shooting the hostages. This all happened on live television.

This event was the longest and largest American hostage situation on American soil. Three hostages were killed and three gunmen were killed. One gunman was caught and is in a California prison. Another 14 hostages sustained injuries ranging from gunshot wounds to major cuts from the shattered glass. One hostage was 5 months pregnant and suffered a miscarriage while being held.

My fiancé was only 9 at the time but he remembers this incident vividly. He had even begged his mom to take him to the store that week. His dad had been in the store the day before the incident. His mom knew and worked with one of the hostages that was shot and killed. No one had saw this coming. Everyone wonders why they didn't choose the bank that was right beside the store. They still don't know the real reasons behind the incident but the victims have said that they had to forgive to be able to move on.

Could you forgive after something like this? I don't know if I could...

Weekend Review

Friday night, Beezy and I went to the Kings vs. Hornets game. We had heard that Michael Jordan was going to be in attendance. We got to the game early, ate some food and waited. And waited. And waited. Jordan never showed up! He was in town and it was his team playing but he never showed his face. Beezy was disappointed because he was wanting to see him. Maybe next year.

On Saturday, we went to Tower Café.

It's a historical landmark in Sacramento and it's a restaurant. I had never been there before and Beezy promised they had good food. I'm a sucker for breakfast so I was ready to be wowed. I got really excited that they serve all of their food on Fiestaware plates. We have those dishes in the house and I'm partial to them because their made in West Virginia. The breakfast food didn't disappoint either...

 

On Saturday, we had a few people who wanted to tour the house. Since we are trying to sell it ASAP that was a good thing. We had to spend the majority of the day away from home. So we spent the day running errands, visiting with his dad and step mom, washing the car and visiting the new house to see the construction progress. They have the privacy fence up now and plants in the front yard! Did I mention that we saw a HUGE dog?! We went to Old Sacramento yesterday and ran into this guy...

 

Sunday, we had more people coming into the house so we had to get out. It's kind of hard to relax when you can't be at home. So we made the best of the situation and tried to have a little fun... like getting my nails done.

I've been trying out different nail colors since December. Every 2-3 weeks, I go and get another color to try out. I think I know exactly what nails I'll have for the wedding but I keep checking and trying out new ones just incase. I have awhile before I have to make a final decision.

 

That was our weekend. We've sent out the majority of our save the dates and the rest go out tomorrow. I'm excited to have that done!

Weekend Review

Friday night Beezy and I headed out to the theater to watch...

I love this series. I read all the books, seen every movie and just can't get enough. We would have went to the midnight showing but we were at the Kings game watching them take on the Chicago Bulls.  The Kings won that game and are looking good so far this season. They are definitely in a better position than they were last year at this time.

Saturday, we headed to Oakland to watch this guy in concert...

Beezy surprised me with tickets a few weeks ago. I hadn't seen him in concert since he was in Nsync. It was a good show! We had a lot of fun and enjoyed our night out! We also had some pretty good seats.

On Sunday, Beezy and I went to Apple Hill. I had been wanting to go there for awhile and he was determined to take me. I had a really great time! We ate apple donuts, bought fudge and walked around the little shops.

 

It was a great weekend of spending time together and gearing up for Thanksgiving!

The Home Opener

The 2014 Home Opener of the Kings Season is tonight! You'll find us there with glow sticks in hand and wearing our purple! If you're in Sac and at the game say hello!

The Kings Are Back!

Tonight starts the 2014-2015 Sacramento Kings season! Woo hoo!

Last year Beezy was a season ticket holder and we went to a ton of games together. I think we'll always have a special place in our hearts for the Kings. This is where Beezy and I started spending a lot of time together and hanging out frequently. We would go to the games and sit and laugh together. We'd make up nicknames for people that we'd see over and over attending the games and just have special moments. It all went down right in Section 108 together. He'd pay for the tickets and parking and I'd buy him drinks and food. We always had our system. We'd get there, get our food and drinks and head to the seats. Then of course came the photos. We started the tradition without even realizing it. Before every game we'd take a photo together. One of us was usually unhappy with how it turned out so we'd take a few before we got one we both liked enough to post. That's where these originated...

Like I said, we went to a lot of games together. So naturally when this season started to roll around we went in on season tickets. Why wouldn't we? It's here in Sacramento, it has a special place in our hearts and we enjoy going to the games. So we went and picked out our seats a few months ago with his cousin (who's splitting some of the games with us).

This year we're sitting in a new section so we're sure to see some interesting new characters. But I know one thing, we're going to have a great time at the games! So last week when the box came from FedEx with our Kings tickets in it for the season we were very excited. When you're a season ticket holder your tickets are actually on a card like a credit card. So you can just scan the card and enter the game. If you want an actual ticket printed you can do it at home or show it on your mobile app.

Tonight is the first pre-season game and I bet you know where you can find us! Hopefully these guys will be looking good and win, win, win! If you happen to be at the game and see us say hello! We aren't shy!
