An update & Dear So and So

First of, the 2nd part to my 100th post is almost upon us! The first part took place the other day. If you missed it, check it out here. The giveaway is coming up very soon!!!!!!

Now, all day I've been seeing these letters that start with Dear So and So. I've decided to post that today! And yes for those of you wondering, I did smile ALL day even though I was tested many many times by people who truly suck at life.

Dear Mr. Man who came through the port (while I was there), with the worst B.O I've ever smelled in my life,
We had to spray almost a full can of lysol just to get the scent of your body odor out of the air. Not only that, you made me feel so dirty once I got off work I came home and immediatley showered. Praying of course the whole time that my car somehow didn't get the scent of you.
Next time shower,
Jennifer

Dear EVERY CHANNEL ON TV,
I get that Michael Jackson was a great singer and entertainer. I don't deny that. However, I am very disappointed in every.single.tv.station. Let's not forget that Farah Fawcett also lost her tremendous fight to anal cancer. Yeah...not the greatest cancer to go forth and talk about but she did it with her head held high. She inspired people to come forth and get checked and reassured them it was OK to talk about having that kind of cancer.
Shame on you media outlets,
Jennifer

Dear Shia Lebouf,
You are one of THE hottest men I have ever seen. Matt's away...come on over to my house. I'll show you a real transformer.....
You hot young stud, Love
Jennifer

Determination is key.

I am determined not to let people get to me at work today, no matter how nasty they become.
I am determined not to be a debbie downer today.
I am determined not to worry about things I have no control over.
I am determined to smile

In other news, the quilt is coming along nicely. I might even be able to finish it within the next few weeks (crazy right?!? it's only been 2 weeks since I started). The blanket I am knitting is taking a little longer though....

Is anyone amazed that it took Michael Jackson's death for MTV to start showing music videos again??

Theater Thursday

Wow, it's Thursday already?!?! Well I guess that means...it's Theater Thursday! This week I'm featuring the movie Gigi.

Now, I know some of you are probably like what?!? I've never heard of this movie. I've been watching it since I was a little kid and I love it. Well... Gigi, is a musical, an Oscar winning musical from 1958. It's filmed and set in Paris, France. It follows a young girl Gigi as she turns into a woman. Gigi's family is lower middle class, yet they have a friend of the family named Gaston, who is very rich. He comes over weekly and visits with them, bringing treats as well.

Throughout the years of friendship with the family he's come to know Gigi and her grandmother (who raises her). Gaston is well known in the tabloids of the time to be a playboy. He's always seen at parties and other high social events.

Gigi becomes required to visit her aunt everyday after school to be groomed into woman hood. Her aunt has plans for Gigi, she wants her to secure the family in money and stature. Gigi never thinks of things like this and has no idea what her family is asking of her.

This movie is very good and I highly recommend it to anyone. Beware though, it is a true musical! There is a lot of singing. It's also very romantic and funny! It also has a very famous parisian in it. Check it out if you get time, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Questions Answered!

First of all thank you for SO many questions!  My 100th will hold the giveaway! It's coming up soon!!! There's a lot of questions so let's get to it!

Ashley asked What do you do for the government? I work for the Department of Homeland Security.  What do you do to cheer yourself up when you feel down during ? When I get sad or down I'll go out shopping (which gets expensive) or I'll put in some kind of action movie steering clear of romance. If friends are available I'll usually go hang out with them. What is your favorite comfort food? I love love love breakfast foods: bacon, pancakes, toast, hashbrowns.

Shoshanah Asked: Do I have a favorite Little Debbie Cake Snack & If so which one? I do! I love Fudge Rounds. I have to be careful when I buy a box because I could literally eat them all in one day!

Samanthathearmywife asked: If I could be on any reality show which one would it be & why?? Definitely Big Brother. I love that show! You get to live in a cool house, get money and meet new people! I seem to be into movies, how & why did that come about? Ever since I was a kid I use to love watching movies. I was and am an only child so maybe that has something to do with it. I love to watch movies. I love to collect them because I don't see the point in renting over and over when I could just buy it and have it forever. All time favorite inspirational/uplifting quote? "You have to let go of who you were to become who you will be".

Abbie asked: What is your favorite season & why? I love summer but I really enjoy watching the leaves change colors in the fall. I love Thanksgiving and Halloween so I'm going to say the fall.  You told me you use to work for NASA, what did you do there? I worked there for a little over a year and I was an Aerospace Instructor...which is a fancy word for a teacher. What did I go to school for? I got my degree in Criminal Justice and foreign language: German.

Jon & Steph asked: If you could travel any where, where would you go? I'm a big fan of London. I love that place. I use to live there and I've traveled there numerous times. If I was picking someplace that I've never gone though, I would have to say Australia. From what I've seen in books and movies and from word of mouth it is amazing!

(Army)Wife asked: Any tattoos? If not, what would you get? I do not have any tattoos. I don't think I'll ever get one just because it isn't me. If I would it would be a cluster of stars in all different colors. If money was no object, what car would you buy and where would your first road trip take you? I would buy a black range rover. I would go to Chicago. I love that place and I haven't been able to go there for a few years. Love it there! If you could talk to any one person in the world who would would it be? If it could be someone who's deceased it would have to be Bobby Kennedy. I think he was an amazing man.

Random Musings of My Life asked: Favorite color? Green but I also love Pink! Favorite food I could eat all week? Bacon Grilled Cheese. Water or Soda? Sprite Zero. Favorite childhood memory? Going to the drive in and seeing a double feature of Straight Talk and Sister Act 1. Siblings? Nope, I'm an only child.

Katie asked: When you were little what did you want to be when you grew up? A dentist (I know right...weird).

New Girl on Post asked: If you could be a spice which one would you be and why? I wouldn't be on. I'm not a big fan of spices at all! They really upset my stomach so I usually steer clear of anything too strong. I would be salt though because I love salt! Very comfy outfit to wear? I'm all about some gym shorts and a tshirt around the house.

Jenn asked:  If you didn't work and volunteered to occupy your time, where would you volunteer? I would volunteer for domestic violence shelters. I did this during college and it was such a great experience. Very humbling but so rewarding.

Mrs. GI Joe asked: If you could pick any style of house to own, what would it be? Victorian! But remember the full house family's house...that one! Picked out any kids names yet and if so what are they? I have..I think every female does this. If I ever had a boy I would love to name him Wheaton. Wheaton Blake Ryan. If I ever had a girl I love the names, Sadie Alexia and Sydney Rose.

High Heels & Combat Boots asked: Favorite song or a soundtrack to your life? It's going to seem really random or out of place but I would have to say U2's With or Without You.
Favorite place to shop? I love love love Forever 21 and Target! I could shop at those places for hours upon hours. Favorite restaurant? Locally a place called Fat Patty's. A place that's all over, Ramon's Macaroni Grill.

Indiana.girl asked: What would your dream house look like & where would it be located? Something big! Lot's of rooms and located some place warm! What things would you have to have in the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom? An oven and range, a great shower and a huge comfy bed!

Shaina asked: Where did you go to college? Marshall University (if you haven't heard of it, watch the movie We Are...Marshall). Where in DC do you live and what's your favorite thing to do there? I don't live in DC. I have family that lives right outside of DC so I go there often to Falls Church. My favorite thing is to go down to the mall and see the museums and monuments. I love the Jefferson one.

Thanks for all the great questions ladies!!!

3..2..1...Breakdown

All day I have been feeling on the verge of a breakdown. Time isn't moving fast enough. This is my weekend for work (I have Tues' & Wed's off) and on these days time stands still. At least when I'm at work, I'm staying busy and time moves quickly.

Speaking of work, I got invited out next Tuesday to dinner with a group of people from work. I'm pretty excited by this. This is the first time I've ever gotten the invite. I'm the newest person there and they've all worked with each other for years so they must actually like me. It's kinda bittersweet though because it'll be all couples and then me. Scott (one of the guys from work) was telling me, "Yeah you should come! You'll get to meet all of our spouses." I'm standing there thinking, awesome...too bad I'll be there alone!

Am I the only one that watched Jon & Kate last night? Now, I've only watched a few episodes..ever. I'd say maybe 5. Well I say, Good for you Jon! Now maybe finally you can get your balls back from Kate. I'm sorry but all the episodes I've ever watched she does nothing but yell at him, degrade him, cut him off mid sentences and rules with her iron fist. However, I do feel for their children.

Have you heard about my upcoming 100th post??? Um if not check it out here!

Snail on a Salt Bed

If you ever decide to make a quilt stop right there. It sure is hard work! My little fingers are bleeding from the amount of times I've stuck myself with the sewing needle. I've had to take a few days break from it. Instead I've worked more on the blanket I'm knitting and it's coming along!

I got a nice surprise today. Someone gave me a late birthday present...what was it you ask? A 30.00 $ gift card to Borders. Swwwwwweeeeeeeet. I love borders! I'm all about some reading!

Today is my Friday for work. I have the next two days off. Tomorrow I'm spending my day painting our living room. Right now it's this sand color tan. Yuck. It's getting painted ivory.

Alright ladies, I've been up since 4am. I'm taking a miniture nap. Oh, if you missed my last post go check it out. It's about my upcoming 100th post! Click here

The Who, What, Where, When & Why!?!?

Guess what?!? My 100th post is quickly approaching so to honor this occasion I've decided to do something special. During my blogging time I've noticed people usually do one of two things. They either 1) Do a Giveaway or 2) Let people ask them questions.

For my 100th post I've decided to do both! Why no?!?!? So I'm going to start taking questions today and for the next few days. When my 100th post arrives it will contain all the answers to your questions! Also the 100th post will have the giveaway where you can enter for the awesome gifts I'm cooking up!

So DO NOT be shy! Ask away, this includes you lurkers who just read and never comment! Ask me anything you'd like to know! Go ahead.....

My Projects

A few days ago I mentioned the quilt I was making by hand. Let me tell you, it's HARD! My poor little fingers, I've probably stabbed them at least 40 times. In addition to the quilt I'm making, I'm also knitting a blanket. It's brown and teal and made with some of the softest yarn I've ever felt. It's going to be a pretty good size but for sure not the full size of the quilt.
(Please excuse the poor quality of the photo. I only had my cell phone near me at the time)

Besides working on both of my projects and going to work I haven't done that much..

Also thank you for your continued support during my personal troubles.

I'm genuinely freaking out.

I can't go into all the details right now but I'm genuinely scared and freaking out.
I can't talk about what's going on yet but I might be able to later tonight.

I feel like I'm going to throw up that's how nervous and upset and scared I am. Ekk

I need you to pray or use all your birthday wishes for me that everything is ok and what I need it to be.

Theater Thursday

The past 2 weeks Theater Thursday took a backseat. But it's Thursday so that means it's Theater Thursday! This week's featured movie is He's Just NOT That Into You

He's Just NOT That Into You, began just as an idea on the tv show Sex & The City. From there it went to a book and now the book was made into a movie. If you haven't read the book...go get it. Add it to your library. If you have children, make it a mandatory read for them once they turn dating age.

When the book came out, I was single, in college and completely confused when it came to boys and their actions and behaviors. The book helped me. The book can change your life. The book tells you...he's just not that into you. That's why he behaves the way he does.

Needless to say, when this movie came out I was thrilled. Hey, I'm not single anymore but there isn't a day that goes by that I'm still not confused on a guy's behavior or action. This movie is educating yet it's funny. It's sad, it's romantic, it's everything a movie should be.

Give it a chance...I think you'll enjoy it. It has a great ensemble cast!

You m...m...make me happy!

Thank you to everyone who wished me a Happy Birthday yesterday! It really made me smile!
Yesterday was a really great birthday. I wasn't excited about turning 25 but...oh well there's nothing you can really do about it.

I ended up going out to dinner with my mother and we had a great time. I also got a ton of fabulous gifts and the awesome flowers.

(I swear I'm not this fat in real life, I think my camera added 10 pounds)

(My Mother & I)

Today, I'm back to work. My hours have completely changed for my job. I use to work 40 hours a week from 4:30am-1:00pm. Now they have me working like 25 hours a week and completely different times of the days. Take today as an example.. 12:30-5:30pm but Saturday 4:30am-10am. Now don't get me wrong. I'm happy to have a job at all in these trying times. However, I work for the government. My job is pretty secure. I just wish the hours would be the same and that I was getting more of them.

Enjoy the day! Hopefully it won't rain!

Happy Birthday To Me! Part 1

Today I'm 25 years old!!! Ahhhhhhhhh!
20 minutes ago, I was awoken by my doorbell. These are what made me smile...

I'll give you one guess who they are from...

Tomorrow I turn 25...ekk!

That's right...tomorrow is my Birthday!! Sadly, it's my 25th one. I can't believe I'm going to be 25 years old. I thought my life would be soooo different right now. Oh well....that's life. I leave you with my 6th year old birthday photo...
I also recieved my first birthday present today. I was sitting on my couch watching "The Real Housewives of O.C." and UPS hit the doorbell. This is what I found....
He's the best! I open it up to find.....

The Anne Rice Collection of Vampire novels. He knows that I love the Twilight series and the Sookie Stackhouse books. He's been on me for awhile now to read this so I guess he figured I would if he bought them all for me haha. When he called me this afternoon, I told him I got it. Apparently he said there should be a 2nd thing coming!!! Pretty excited!!!!

Oh, in addition to the quilt I'm making...I'm also knitting a blanket. My poor wrists and fingers are KILLING me right now. I knitted almost all day. Yay for no work today or tomorrow!

We don't need no stinking patches!

SO what's a girl to do during the down slope of a deployment....get a new hobby. That's right, I've decided to make a quilt. I told sweets about it and he immediately called dibs on it. I'm planning on it being at least a full size. I've went out and got a lot of the fabric....here's the majority of what I've chosen.

I'm hoping that it turns out really well. I've only sewn a few times and it was nothing big. Mostly things like sewing holes in pants and making a pin cushion once. Haha, oh this should be interesting! Did I mention I'm making it by hand? We have a sewing machine somewhere but I'm not searching for it.

Today I got a phone call from sweets, he's still in Kuwait.

I know this is going to sound random but I love Kathy Griffin. She's so open and tells it like it is. I know some people really can't stand her because of her now infamous Emmy speech but I love her! I'm sorry, but anyone who gets up in front of millions of people on television and has the balls to say "Jesus Can Suck It", then wow! They're hardcore. The reason I'm mentioning her is because she's back for another season of Kathy Griffin: My Life On The D List. It's pretty entertaining and hilarious!
Check it out...she has no shame.

To Skype or Not To Skype

Let's start with a definition for those who may not know what Skype is.

Skype is basically a free internet telephone and video service. All you have to do is download the free program, add your contacts and bam you can video chat with them.

Now why am I talking about this program? If you're dating, engaged, married or closely acquainted with someone in the military and is serving in Iraq, A-Stan or some other godforsaken place then more than likely you've tried to use this program. Basically, it's good for anyone who wants to see someone that's not within driving distance. It's a free way to actually get to see your loved one.

I love this program. I've grown to love it a lot. I don't know who started it but they are genius.

Theater Thursday on a Wednesday?!?

That's right folks it's Theater Thursday....oh wait...no it's only Wednesday! Right now, I bet your asking yourself, "Why is she posting Theater Thursday when it's only Wednesday?"
The Answer: Because I have interesting news to post about tomorrow and I'm not big on posting more than once a day. Soooooo...that leads us to: Theater Thursday

This week we'll be looking at Ghostbusters! This week happens to mark it's 25th Anniversary. Plus with the upcoming 3rd installment (Bill Murray was the last hold out & he just signed on. yay), I thought I would feature it. I really love this movie. I can remember watching it when I was a kid and wanting to be a Ghostbuster. I never looked at the Stay Puft marshmellow man the same way......

My favorite line from the movie has got to be when Ray (Akryod) says, "He's an ugly looking spud isn't he!" To Venkman (Murray) when talking about the green slimy ghost.

If you haven't seen this movie then you are truly missing out on a piece of American cinema. This movie also has that summer vibe feel to it. Also I love the small part Annie Potts has in it. I loved her when she was on Designing Women (which happens to have season 1 on dvd).
