Work Travel

In the past year for my job, I have started traveling more frequently for work. I think the first year that I was in my drive I travelled twice. This past year, I've flown 40 times on work trips.
Yes... 40.

To some people that might not seem like a lot but for me it has been. This past year I was promoted and with that came more responsibility. While I welcome the challenge and don't mind the travel sometimes I just feel worn down. As an example... one week I was in three different cities on 4 flights all within 5 days. While the traveling can be tiresome it definitely comes with it's perks. My work contracts with Southwest so I only fly on that airline. They have free checked bags. They send my drink coupons (not that I ever use them) and I rack up the frequent flyer points. That leads to free personal travel because my work allows me to keep the points! But the best perk of all...

I've flown so much that I've earned a Companion Pass!

I am so over the moon excited about this! I found out at the beginning of July that I was going to make it happen by the end of October. Well this past week I hit it! Now what's a companion pass? It's a pass that you earn if you've flown 100 Southwest flights in a year, you get to designate someone who will fly for free with you for a year! How exciting! I obviously  designated my husband as the person to fly for free. Now if you're doing the math like me then you know that I'm only at 40 flights so how am I getting it if you have to do 100 flights? Well in July they offered me a promotion that if I had so many flights within a four month period they would reward me with one. SOLD!

I'm already trying to plan the trips we will go on! I have this list so far...

New York City
Memphis
Houston
Cabo San Lucus
Gatlinburg
Toronto
Chicago (but worried about the crime rate)
Washington D.C.
Philadelphia
Wyoming
New Mexico

If you could fly for free... where would you go first?

Working the New 9 to 5

I started my new job almost a month ago and since then I feel like the days just fly by. Does anyone else feel like most of their work days just fly by? I get up each morning by 6:45 a.m. and I'm out the door by 7:30 a.m. I spend an hour in bumper to bumper traffic. Usually it's the stop and go kind which I find to be the most annoying. That gets me to 8:30 my start time. I get inside the building. I fill up my reusable water container and the day just starts to speed away. Some mornings, I take a break and get one of the best butter croissants ever...

Before I know it, it's lunch time and I'm out in capitol park eating a bologna sandwich. I usually spend my lunch time talking to Beezy and enjoying being outside. I take full advantage of the nearby park. I sit on my bench and just enjoy it. In the winter months who knows what I'll do. I have gone outside for lunch everyday except one so far.

Once lunch ends, the afternoon flies. I spend time sending e-mails, going to meetings, answering calls, ordering things I'm responsible for etc. I usually look down at the computer clock and it's 4:45 p.m. so I make a mad dash of scrambling to finish up everything that I'm working on well enough to know what I'm doing the next day. I turn off my lights, log off my computer and fill up my water jug for the long car ride home. I've learned that if I'm not in the car by 5:05 p.m. then traffic will be far worse than if I and when I can get out exactly at 5:00p.m. So I spend another hour in the car to finally get back home.

Lately, Tesco has been sitting right by the door waiting on me. I get my big hug from Beezy and we eat dinner. I can finally relax, put on some comfortable clothes and just enjoy the evening. The evenings usually go by fast because bed time creeps up on us before we realize it. Then I do it all over again the next day. Trust me... the evenings could go a little slower but I'm grateful the work day goes quick. Is anyone else's days like this? I feel like I'm working a new 9 to 5.

Weekend Review

Last Monday, I left my old job. I wasn't sad at all. I'll miss a handful of the people and will remain in contact with them but besides that.... I won't miss it. It was a toxic, negative place and I'm glad to have a great new job. However, the great people who I will remain in contact with got me a cake to say goodbye!
It was a carrot cake with butter cream frosting. I think they got me a carrot cake as an inside joke because I use to bring baby carrots and eat them at my desk. I kept saying I was going to turn into a bunny because I was eating so many carrots. They also got me some really nice cards and signed them. They were also very generous and gifted me a Cheesecake Factory gift card. I used that on Friday and Beezy and I ate for free! It as good too!

So I did my last day at my old job on Monday and Tuesday morning I was starting my new job. No rest in between! So far so great! The people have been really nice, I'm starting to learn a few things about how to do my actual job and the best part... I have my own desk! At my last job, I had to share a desk with people. So when I wasn't there other people sat there, used the computer, moved things around etc. Not this time! I've got my own space and can put my own photos down, order supplies etc. So far I've only personalized it by bringing in two frames but next week I'm bringing in more! I'm going to organize that whole cube. I even have a window view.

As for the rest of the weekend, I tried to relax and we moved the last of Beezy's things out of his apartment. Woohoo!

Five on Friday

I haven't done one of these in awhile but I have five awesome things I want to post about!

1. I got a new job!!! I can't say it enough. I start this coming Tuesday! Ek. I'm nervous.
Best instagram post!

2.

I binged watching Season 1 of Orange is the New Black. The summer got busy and I wasn't able to watch season 2 in the same fashion. So far I've only watched two episodes but I can't wait to see what happens. I know what happened for the real Piper but I can't wait to see on the show.

3. At my above mentioned job, I'll have my own desk. I won't be sharing it with anyone so that means I'll need to add a few things to it. I know I want to add some photos to it but besides that I have no idea! I do like this inspiration...

4.

Tonight I'm going to my first ever Raiders Game in Oakland. Let's hope it's a success. We are also tailgating so that should be fun. We have the grill ready and the car is loaded up!

5. We changed over from Comcast to Direct TV. I'm happy to have WGN America back as a channel that's for sure! Anyone want $10.00 off a month on a new account? I can make it happen for you. I have a code for you.

Big Ch Ch Changes

I have waited months, maybe even years to say this but last week I quit my job. Yep. QUIT!

Let that sink in.

Now let me tell you a little back story.

Over six years ago I started working with a federal agency. It goes unnamed on here. Always has and that remains unchanged. The first year I worked in that job it was new. It was interesting work and pretty good money. Then every year after that it became worse and worse. The interaction with people was awful. The money actually wasn't worth it and some of the co-workers weren't great. Then I transferred to Sacramento and it was a new location with new people. The money still wasn't worth it but it was more tolerable. Then the daily grind just became too much. I was up for a couple of promotions but kept getting passed over. I noticed all the people who were getting these jobs were people who never really worked hard. Just great at sucking up to bosses. So after all those years, I had had it. I finally started looking really hard for a new job.

When I say really hard, I mean I applied to over 50 state jobs. I took two exams that I had to actually sign up for and go to a testing site. I took numerous online exams and mailed in the old school way (paper applications) around 40 resumes. Then I started getting hit with the interviews. I got four interviews in a two week period and just prayed that one of them would work out. On each job interview, I felt really good about it. I thought I answered the questions really well, let them see my personality and talk about my work ethics. All of the jobs that I interviewed for would pay me more money. They would appreciate my work effort and skills and would allow me to wear business casual/business attire (instead of a uniform). They would also be mainly a desk job which is a major promotion from me instead of doing a lot of grunt work.

I went on the last of the four interviews on a Thursday and the next day they started calling my references. This was a good sign, some places call references to weed out people so I didn't want to get my hopes up too high. Then on Monday of last week my life changed. I got the call and got offered one of the jobs. I was a bundle of nerves. It was mixed emotions of excitement and fear. The OMG what if I screw up and they hate me! What if I get fired and can't pay my bills! BUT I took a deep breath and Beezy and I talked about it. I called my mom. Texted my two best friends. Talking out the fears and realized I'm not the only person to be scared to take a new job and leave behind what's comfortable and what I know.

Next week I'll be starting my new job with the State of California (my department will go unnamed). I'm excited. I'll have my own desk that I can litter with colorful post it notes and personal photos. I'll be able to go out to lunch on my lunch hour. I'll be a downtown worker who wears normal clothing and can take personal calls without fear that someone is calling me because a large meteor is hitting earth. I'll have a work badge that has a real smile instead of a facial recognition frown. I'll have weekends off and a set schedule! No more getting up in the middle of the night to go to work. No more rushing out the door on a Sunday to get to work. I'm excited about it. Really excited.

But you know what having that job reiterated to me... Everything happens for a reason. If I would never have kept that job and transferred out to California. I would never have met Beezy. We would have never met at work and he surely wouldn't be sitting on my couch right now beside me as I write this. That would have been a tragedy. So for all the people out there who are miserable in their jobs and think that you're never going to get treated any better in the workplace. Remember just keep applying! You'll find something great!

Five on Friday

1. Can we talk about the shutdown for a minute?
I'm considered essential personnel. I'm still reporting to work but not getting paid. I have a mortgage. I have other bills. I need to get paid. I don't have a huge wad of cash saved up so Congress needs to get their act together. Ain't nobody got time for this!

2. Have you seen this video?

If I hear one more person signing or humming it, I might lose it. I mean, I get that it's catchy but come on. It's no masterpiece.

3. Want to hear a masterpiece? Watch Britney's new video.

Home girl is back and better than ever. I'm hoping I can score a ticket to one of her Vegas shows but since I'm not getting paid right now for work....

4. I'm so happy that fall television is back. Scandal.... seriously?! This show is so good! I can't wait to see what they do with the rest of the season.

5. Is it Christmas yet? Please! I heard that Cost World Market is going to have the chubby nutcrackers again this year. I hear they are new ones... YES!

A Little Life Recap

I want to say a big thank you to everyone who wished me well on my interview this past Wednesday. I did the interview and I feel good about how I answered their questions. I should know something this upcoming week but I'm not getting my hopes up too high. I heard that 38 people including myself, interviewed for the five open spots. That's not great odds so at this point it's up to fate.

I've been thinking a lot lately about opening my own business but in this economy that's a really big risk. I might start out small with an etsy store and go from there. Basically, it would be crafts but for all seasons. I do a lot of wood crafts if you couldn't tell from my recent, Just Call Me Martha segments on here. There's just so much competition with crafts like that. So I'm mulling that one over.

I'm exhausted about 99% of the time nowadays. Since I've went to morning shift, I can't get a good nights sleep. I usually have to go to bed really early and I wake up about every hour. I just want to sleep through the night! Then I spend 10 hours a day on my feet at work and talking to people a good 80% of the day. By the time comes up to go home all I want to do is go home, eat some food, put on some sweatpants and lay down.

I have four shows that I'm obsessed with watching right now. Every fall tv season, I find some good shows to watch and this year it's these... well one of them is from last year.
Scandal, Revolution, Arrow and Nashville. I am LOVING them! I can never wait till the next week's episode. Those are my shows and I'm sticking with them!

I'm also obsessed with Christmas. Not that it's different from any other year but this year I'm trying to get all of my shopping done early since I'm having to do it over a space of time. Having a mortgage payment is no joke people!!! So I've been trying to buy a few things every week to have it all ready for Christmas! Can't wait for the holiday! Can you tell I'm excited about it because of my excessive use of the exclamation point?

Ok last random, I promise. This past week I decided to open up Theater Thursday as a link up. Someone linked up and that made me really excited! Won't you join in? On Thursday, I'll be doing it again. So grab the button, post a movie you love and then and join in on the fun by linking up!

Wish Me Good Luck!

Today is not only another work day, it's the day that I'm interviewing for a really good job at my new work location. Yes, it's still with my current organization but today's interview is for a job that could bring me a better future within it. It's for a supervisor position and with that comes more financial support, better schedules, a better daily work load and much, much more.

At my previous work location, the supervisors who worked there, had been there since almost the beginning of time. So this job had never opened while I was there. The job that's right under it, "lead" had only opened once the entire 3 years that I had been there. So for me to come to this new location in Sacramento and get an interview only two months later makes me thrilled! I'm just hoping that I'm what their looking for and that they'll give me the opportunity to show them that I'm smart, capable and can do the job better than others.

So... CROSS THOSE FINGERS!

AM/PM

Today I start working on the morning shift. To say that I am less than thrilled is an understatement. I have to get up for work at 2:50 a.m. I have to be standing in the building and on the clock by 4:00 a.m. Let me just tell you, no one should ever be at work that early unless it's from the other side. I'm dreading it. For real

You see... at my job we bid on schedules. When I came to Sacramento I didn't know where I'd fall into their bid because I'm not new but I haven't been with the organization as long as some people have. I've got almost 4 years under my belt so that is something. However, certain people specialize in categories and I'm one of those people. Out of say, I don't know maybe 250 employees only about 30 of those people there specialize in what I do. In those 30 people only 11 are female. Guess where I ended up out of those 11 people? Oh you might have guessed it... 11. Dead last

Great.

So when it came time to bid, I looked at all the slots and hoped, prayed and crossed my fingers that one of the pm slots would still be available for me to take. The bid here takes two full days because this is when everyone is bidding on their schedule. At the end of the first day, there was two pm slots left and three females. I talked with both women and they told me they were staying pm. I knew walking into that room on the second day that all that would be left was an AM slot. I don't know what I was hoping for, maybe a miracle but that's all that was left on the paper.

Lame.

So I didn't even really have a choice. I could quit but hello, I have this little thing called a MORTGAGE and other bills. So that's not an option. Ever. In the few weeks that followed the bid, before it went into effect, I have been reaching out to everyone. Supervisors, scheduling, human resources, etc. Basically anyone that I think could possibly get another slot on the evening shift again. I'm sure when some of these people see my number on their caller ID, their like "Sweet Jesus not her again!" But guess what people persistence has to get you somewhere. Now I keep hear rumblings of a slot opening and I'm just hoping and praying that I can get my hands on it.

I'm not built for getting up for work like that. I did it the first year I worked for this organization and it was awful. I was so tired from work that when I got home, I could never get anything accomplished. Then when I would finally eat something (from after feeling nausea all day probably from being up so early) that it would be time to go back to sleep and start the vicious cycle all over again. So wish me good luck today and let's hope I get some good news on being able to go back to the pm slots in 2 weeks.

Busy, Busy! Go, Go!

This is my favorite time of the year. I love Christmas. No... I really do love Christmas. I've had a tree up permanently since September of 2009. Yep, I'm that person.
This year has been like no others. I have been on the go non stop since Thanksgiving. Heck, I was on the go the whole week of Thanksgiving too. Since we ate the bird, I have literally wrapped presents, went Christmas shopping, decorated, cleaned up tinsel and had other commitments non stop. I am tired

Last week wasn't any different. I had that big job interview on Thursday. Thank you to everyone who wished me well. I successfully passed the interview portion and did the presentation as well. Hopefully, I'll hear news soon. They said I would know either way in two weeks. I got a lot of questions about California when I mentioned the interview and it getting me out there. Let me explain it better:
I already have an active transfer request in for California. I've had it in since March 1st. Yep, I've been waiting since March 1st. Frustrating yes, but there's nothing I can do but wait. There has to be an open space for me meaning that someone either has to retire, expire, quit or the powers above have to create another position for me to transfer into. I can tell you that in the months that I've been on the list I have moved up to #4 on the wait list (as of October). What the job I interviewed for means, if I would get it, that I would literally get to go instantly with starting that job. No more waiting, just packing! *crosses fingers*

Apart from the interview on Thursday, I stayed busy last week by going to the Chris Isaak concert. Love him! I've seen him before and briefly spoke with him so I knew it was going to be a good concert.

Then on my off day, Saturday, I decided to brave the mall and surrounding stores so I could finish my Christmas shopping. Oh my my! Apparently, I fell and hit my head at some point because only blunt trauma could make someone forget how crazy stores are this close to Christmas and on a weekend no doubt. Needless to say, 5 stores later and still 3 people to shop for and 5 items to pick up. At least I've got two more weeks!

I need a vacation! Speaking of vacation, we're trying to plan something for late January/early February. I want to go somewhere warm. Any suggestions? I'd like to go some place that I have never been to before. Suggest away!!!!!

Major Updates

It's time for a major update. I've been holding out on everyone. I was waiting for a few things to happen or not happen before I updated but here it goes...
My uncle Kenneth and his wife Amy are expecting! They've been married since 2005 and had dated a few years before tying the knot. We found out last week and I am extremely excited for them. I want to babysit for them hardcore and that scares me because I realize how much I want to have a baby one day in my life.

The interview for the radio job. I rocked it. I thought I did great. I walked out of that building thinking that it was one of the best interviews that I had ever done. I had a feeling that they really liked me. I thought it felt natural and a right fit. Um... apparently not. It's been over two weeks and I haven't heard a peep. The only thing that holds me back from being sad about it and still holding to hope that I wasn't wrong is the fact that they haven't hired anyone so far for the position. Let's forget that whole fact that I have no experience in radio. Haha!

Remember the goals I made for the new year? Well so far I've been on target! I started with 5 credit cards needing to be paid off. Now I'm down to 3 and I've almost got one of those done so soon it'll be down to 2. I've also been saving money and it's going straight to my Buy A House Fund.
Last week I had entered a contest to win a trip to Graceland (because hello, everyone knows I love Elvis) and a stay at the famous Heartbreak Hotel. Well Monday, I found out I won! So guess who'll be making another pilgrimage to Memphis... ME!

Speaking of buying a house... it's hard to buy a house when you have no idea what city you'll be living in. Yeah... we'll get into that one later.

Wednesday Love

This is my first time linking up to What I'm loving Wednesday!

I'm loving the fact that I got an interview for the radio host position!!!! That's right everyone, I had an interview this week for the job and I hope to hear something soon. Either way, I was really excited that they took the time to interview me. Thanks for all the support!

I'm also loving these...

Have you ever had a pierogie? They are amazing! I'm addicted to them. I love their 4 cheese blend, they are pure heaven. Try them!

I'm also hardcore loving some 80's television shows!
Matt Houston

Vega$
I just can't get enough of all those detective shows. Love them! There's nothing better, they just don't make them like they use to!

My Mom Always Told Me...

When you want something in life, you should go for it.

No matter how unattainable you think it may be, go for it! I believe you have to try. If you don't then you may always wonder what if and I'm sorry but life is too short to wonder.
A weeks ago, I was online looking at local jobs. I came across a radio personality spot for the hottest channel and morning show and it instantly sparked my curiosity to apply. I typed up my cover letter, put my resume in the envelope and mailed it. I figured what's the harm in applying. I may lack experience in radio but I've got enough wit and enough personality to hang with the best of them. Plus... hello, it would be so much fun!

As the days since apply keep ticking by, I'm seeing that they may not be calling me. I mean I get that I have no experience in radio but I do have other qualifications. I did earn a 4 year degree from Marshall University. I'm a home town girl and know the city! I'm up on pop culture, current events, social networking outlets (hello have you seen my tweets?) and I've got the gift of the gab. I can make conversation with the wall if I needed to. Doesn't all that count for something?

I once heard about a man who stood on a street corner with all his qualification wrote down on a sign and asking for a job. When it came to the end of the day, he'd got over 100 job inquires and multiple offers. Currently it's too cold outside or I'd seriously consider going over and standing outside their offices with a poster board telling them how rad I really am. I'm not above pulling a  John Cusack circa Say Anything for something I want.

So here's the deal. WKEE if you ever read this, call me for an interview! I may not look the greatest on paper in the experience department but a resume says nothing when it comes to personality, dependability, drive and social skills!
Want to help me score an interview? Get ahold of them and tell them how awesome I am! You can reach them via twitter, or facebook !

Busy, Busy & More Busy

Lately, with my new work hours I have been non stop busy. I thought once the holidays were over that things would settle down and I'd slowly get into a new routine. Uh... I was wrong

I feel like I'm an old grandma. I fall asleep by 10pm, get up at 5am for work and then proceed to work the day away until I come home at 6pm. Then I maybe get through all of my email, a little google reading and then the cycle starts all over again.

I'm hoping that I can start getting in a better routine soon. I need to make my priorities and keep them there. Yesterday, all I could do was keep saying this quote over and over in my head....

"Dear God, make me a bird so I can fly far, far away"-Jenny, Forrest Gump

Everything...

Sometimes you just have to remember...

I am anxious. I'm nervous and worried but also ready. In about two weeks, I'm applying for an amazing opportunity at work. The kind of opportunity that could allow me to travel and save enough money to buy the house of my dreams. This kind of opportunity only comes around in my work once a year and they only take maybe 1-2 people from each state even though thousands apply around the nation.

This is the big event that's causing me to already with that it was February. If it was February then I would already know if I got it and I could start planning the rest of my year. I'd know if I could schedule my vacations. I'd know if I was going out on the road. I'd know if I was going to be living in my own home this time come 2012.

But...

I don't know because only time can tell what will happen in life. I need to continue to remind myself that my type A personality can't control this. The decisions that I'm waiting to hear aren't up to me. It's out of my hands. I just have to hope and pray that the outcome is what I'm wishing and hoping for non stop.

Please dear February hurry up and get here. Also, if you see any pennies, shooting stars, break any wish bones, have a birthday, etc. please make a little wish for me because I've never wanted anything more in my life! (other than to be healthy)

My Brain has turned to mush...

First of all, thank you all so much for the well wishes and good luck comments on yesterdays election volunteering. When I arrived home last night, it was so sweet to see my inbox flooded with nice comments. Unfortunately my brain still feels like mush from seeing all those names yesterday, so it's a bullet post day!

-As for the job of being a poll clerk yesterday, it was fun but exhausting. I had to report to the polls by 5:30am. Since I'm a night person I didn't end up falling asleep until around 1am and with having to get up at 4:30am. I didn't even get 4 hours of sleep, then I had to work till 7:30pm. Basically, I worked for 14 hours on no sleep. The hardest part about it though was that the room was freezing! I was so cold and all I wanted to do was get warm or turn the heat on, but that's nothing new... I'm always cold.

-Today, Operation Tan is in full force. I've only got 7, technically 6 more days to get a tan before heading to California. Ekk, I'm down to the wire.

-Since my vacation is coming up, I thought of doing a giveaway. Then I noticed that my 350 post will happen very, very soon so that sealed the idea. Next week before I leave for vacation, I will be hosting a fabulous giveaway with tons of cute stuff in it. So make sure you check back!

-Question: Have you ever done something that you weren't sure about and then worried the entire time what the outcome will be? I may or may not have made a decision and now I'm worried about what the outcome will be. Maybe I'll post about it tomorrow and ask for advice. Ekk.

-And yes I know I promised all of you a picture of my new hair. Since I'm still laying in bed... it'll also have to wait till tomorrow. I did post one on twitter the other day @jmomiller

Don't worry, I'll return tomorrow and the bullets will not.

Election Day!

Today the primary election is being held in my home state. Since the age of 18, I have worked in every primary and general election and today is no different. This year I'm a poll clerk. Wish me good luck! Because I have to report to my assigned voting location at 5:30am and will be sitting in a chair (please let it be padded!) until 7:30pm

Usually it's a lot of fun. I get to meet complete strangers and spend the day working with them. It's always interesting meeting new people and of course I usually end up seeing someone I know who comes in to vote. I'm also taking a book to read. I'd hate to be stuck there and have nothing to do if the turnout ends up being low.

So if you live in a state that's having a primary Election today, don't forget to get out there and vote!

May! It's good to see you!

I don't know about all of you but I had a fabulous weekend! I ushered in the month of May with a great weekend filled with laughs, friends and of course crazy shenanigans.

This weekend Kristin, one of my closest and long time friend came into town. We met in college and went through greek rush together (that's actually how we met). We've been friends ever since and through all of the years we've definitely been involved in some crazy times together. So when I found out she was coming into town I knew it was going to be a good weekend. And good it was... this is us at my favorite local restaurant Fat Pattys. (Sorry for the quality, it was taken with my cell phone & sorry for those of you seeing it twice since I posted it that night to twitter @jmomiller)
If you ever happen to get to WV, then you must go to Fat Patty's. Best food ever. I usually have their All-American Club which consists of turkey, bacon, ham, 2 different cheeses and all the toppings you can think of! Yum!
Saturday, sadly I had to work so the shenanigans were put on hold for 8 hours. However, while I was at work I had the most random thing happen. I came out of one of the office doors and a woman I'd never seen before stops me. At first I thought, she was just going to ask me some random question. She asks me, "Do you watch Young and the Restless?" I was taken back by the question because I figured it would be a work related question so I had to think what that even was. I quickly remembered it was a soap opera and told her, "No" and then asked, "Why?"

The lady goes, "You look exactly like Victoria Newman! The only difference is her hair." So what do I do? I had to go straight to my computer and look her up. It took me a second to find her because apparently that's the characters name on the show and not the womans real name. I'm not gonna lie...I was disappointed. I don't think we look anything alike. Do you see a resemblance?

Anyways, back to the fun! So once I got off work we all headed to Coldstone because hello, who doesn't love some good ice cream on a hot day?!? Plus we did some shoe shopping. This is after we had enjoyed the sweet nectar of coldstone...
The 3rd person in this photo is our friend Erica (whom we also met in college and went through rush with, gotta love Phi Mu). I'm going to miss Erica because soon she's moving to Columbia, SC. She's headed down there this month to find an apartment and I actually might be making the road trip with her if I can swing it since I've got work, vacation and oh remember..NEW MEXICO bound!

All in all it was a great weekend! This month is so full I can barely wait. I'm busting with excitement! I've got under two weeks of work left before all the fun begins. When I look at this months schedule of events I can't help but feel the whole spectrum of emotions! I can't wait for the new adventures!

Cross those fingers!

I love my job. At times it can be hectic and stressful but at the end of of the day I really do enjoy my job and the majority of the people I come in contact with. With that said, I applied for another job. It's within the same agency and I'm really, really hoping I get it.

It's a great position that you can transfer to almost anywhere with (as you can with my current position), it's got all the same benefits and a much bigger salary. I wouldn't have the same duties I currently have and I'd travel a lot more. So if you think about it, cross your fingers for good news! With all my big journey's looming, it would be awesome to start in a new position too!

Also, I want to say thank you to everyone who gave me a suggestion on a new face lotion. I ended up going with two different kinds to try out. Today is the first day with one of them on so I'll let you know how it goes!

Warning! Bullets

I have about a million thoughts going on in my head. The only way I know how to get them out is in bullet points:
-I'm having a giveaway on Thursday so don't miss out!

-Someone e-mailed me saying that I haven't been showing up in their google reader or dashboard and asked me what the deal was. Answer: Um...I have no idea. Refresh the page? I could go through the steps like they do when you call about your internet being down. "Have you restarted your router? No? Let's do that...wait 30 seconds." I hate that crap. It's always awkward. Do you make idle chit chat to let them know your still on the line? I usually pretend a cough or clearing of the throat to let them know I haven't hung up the line. Haha, yes I'm that lame awesome.

-Remember all those books I posted about here. Well I've read 2 of them: San Diego and A Slice of Heaven. I'd recommend, A Slice of Heaven but when it comes to San Diego I really wanted to throat punch one of the main characters... so I'm going with, "It's a decent book but I wouldn't put it at the top of my go out and get it list."

-I've been working out (ie running) and if you know me, then you know I'd rather be one of those speed walkers, who looks like they have to poop cause they're walking so fast than be running.

-Someone at work, said something that kind of hurt my feelings. It must have because I'm still thinking about it. At work I've tried to make it a joke but in all actuality it wasn't funny for me. I think she tried saying it in a nice and caring way because we usually get along but it made me feel not so great. Boo

-I started taking things off the walls and that makes me very excited. The countdown is on people! Now I just need to get this yard sale organized to eliminate extra boxes filled with crap that don't need to be moved.
