Shh.. It's a secret!

I've had this blog since 2008. I'm sure many of you know (if you've followed for awhile) or have heard this story before but I started blogging near the end of 2008. In the beginnings of this blog, I was completely anonymous. Obviously, not so much anymore. I'm fairly sure that anyone could figure out who I am, where I live, where I work etc and I'm basically ok with that. However, I do keep a few things private (ie, my love life). If you hadn't noticed... I barely if rarely talk about it here. Maybe one day I will.

Anyways so where is this going? When I first started blogging I didn't go out and scream it from the hills. Only a handful of people knew. I mean it's not like the first thing you're going to do when you see people is say, "Oh guess what I'm blogging now, go visit my blog!" No. At least that's not how it happened for me. After a few months, I started slowly letting my close friends know that I was blogging. A few of them are actually now bloggers themselves. Over time I've started letting more and more people in my real life know about my blog. It's a part of who I am, why would I not? But maybe that's just me.

So... the question is, Do people in your real life know that you blog? Or have you kept it a secret and if so why?

Theater Thursday

This week's Theater Thursday featured movie is Win A Date With Tad Hamilton.
Set in rural West Virginia, Rosalee (Kate Bosworth) a cashier at a grocery store enters and wins a sweepstakes to have a date with celebrity Tad Hamilton (Josh Duhamel). When she heads out to California to meet Tad she's amazed at what he's really like in person as is Tad with Rosalee.
Tad being caught up in his own celebrity and somewhat unhappy begins to see real life and what he's been missing. Tad jumps a plan and heads to West Virginia.

Starting out as friends Tad begins to court Rosalee much to the dislike of Pete (Topher Grace) who is Rosalee's boss. Pete who's harbored feelings for Rosalee realizes he has some stiff competition in Tad and quickly learns he'll have to figure out a way to win her heart.

This movie is super cute and funny. If you've never seen it you really should try it out!

Popcorn FAIL!

Let me set the scene for you: Chilly night, cuddling up under some warm blankets, watching Dancing with the Stars. What could make the evening better? Oh, some yummy, warm popcorn. Right? Right! Wrong...
It all started out so simple. Grab the bag of popcorn, pop it into the microwave, press the "popcorn" button and wait for the beep. Oh... we heard the beep alright.
Have you ever bought the mini bags of popcorn? Well I have. In fact I prefer them to regular size bags of popcorn because it's more of an individual size serving. That way if you fix a mini bag you don't have the left over popcorn to shove your face with that really doesn't need to be ate.

So last night while watching Dancing with the Stars (Go Pam!), I decided that I wanted some popcorn. No big deal, those mini bags take no time. I ran into the kitchen on commercial, took it out of the plastic bag, threw it into the microwave and pressed the popcorn button. I heard DWTS come back on so I went back into the living room because hello, I couldn't miss the results!?! I knew the popcorn would stop on it's own hello that's what the popcorn button is for so I knew I wouldn't have to worry about it burning.

The results started getting intense. You know how they do it. The red lights, the split screen, will it be Nicey or will it be Jake!!?!? Then I start to smell something rank. Oh no

The popcorn that was in the microwave is now reeking of black burntness. I can see the black seeping from the bag as I run towards it. In my rush to fix yummy popcorn,I had forgotten that mini bags take less time than the bigger bags. Hence by pushing the popcorn button, I sent that popcorn into it's death. Ooops!

So let that be a lesson watch your mini bags like a hawk!

Cross those fingers!

I love my job. At times it can be hectic and stressful but at the end of of the day I really do enjoy my job and the majority of the people I come in contact with. With that said, I applied for another job. It's within the same agency and I'm really, really hoping I get it.

It's a great position that you can transfer to almost anywhere with (as you can with my current position), it's got all the same benefits and a much bigger salary. I wouldn't have the same duties I currently have and I'd travel a lot more. So if you think about it, cross your fingers for good news! With all my big journey's looming, it would be awesome to start in a new position too!

Also, I want to say thank you to everyone who gave me a suggestion on a new face lotion. I ended up going with two different kinds to try out. Today is the first day with one of them on so I'll let you know how it goes!

Jackpot!

Did anyone else see the story over the weekend about the man who won the Powerball Jackpot? I'm sorry but I have to talk about this.

Why is it that when someone hits it big with these lottos that they always seem how do I say this? kinda ... skanky. It's never some woman/man standing up there in neatly pressed dockers and name brand shirt accepting the big money check. It's always some family or person who has about 5 bucks in their bank account, works a lower-end income job (not that there's anything wrong with that) and usually has either a major adult acne problem or missing/green teeth. Think about it...

Why is this? I wonder what percentage of the past winners have had less than 100 bucks in their account, the day they won.

In other news, it's been raining so much here I feel like the animals are going to start lining up two by two shortly. I knew I should have invested in some cute rubber boots for the rain season!

TV & Shopping!

I absolutely can not wait another week for the return of the Real Housewives of New Jersey.
I mean really who could forget this scene last season?

I find these ladies so much entertaining, that I follow 4 out of 5 of them on twitter. I'll give you a guess as to the one that I don't follow, haha!

In other news, I feel frazzled. I have so much to do before the end of May gets here. I feel like the days are getting shorter and that there just isn't enough time for everything that I need to get done. I did however find my way to Sephora, where I spent an obscene amount of money on make up. I can't help it... in addition to reading books, I'm addicted to make up. I did actually need some of it though.

Speaking of make up, does anyone have a good recommendation for a face lotion that can be worn under make up? My face has been dry lately and I need something I can put on in the mornings and put my make up over top of. PS: I have really sensitive skin. Have a wonderful Friday!

Watch out! Paper Cuts...

Recently, I was contacted by Big Honcho Media and was sent a review copy of The Ocean Between Us by Susan Wiggs. I read this book from cover to cover in a day and it was amazing! I highly suggest you read this book. It was the first book I've read of Susan's books but it definitely won't be my last!

Remember this huge post I did a few weeks ago with all the books I had bought while on my mini vacation? Well I've finished a few more and maybe bought some more books in the process. The ones that I've finished were:

The Choice by Nicolas Sparks and The Girl of His Dreams by Donna Leon. I liked The Choice but was completely bored with The Girl of His Dreams. So I'd say pass on the 2nd one. I admit it. I fell off the wagon. I bought more books. So now I have this huge stack of books just sitting there waiting to be read. In addition to the ones I bought last month, I also bought the following:
Is there a books-aholic meeting I can go to? Haha! I love to read.

Big v. Aiden

Come May 27th, whose side are you on?

Mr. Big
or

Aiden Shaw
I can't wait to see Sex and the City 2! As much as I loved Aiden, I've always been a Big fan. I was so happy when they finally got together on the show. Then when the first movie came out I was terrified they were going to split Carrie and Big up. Now...I'm biting my nails wondering if she's cheat on him with Aiden. Ek! May 27th needs to get here!

Dear So & So

Dear Guys,
Having skid marks on your underwear will not attract the ladies. When you flirt and look all cute, we're still thinking of those skid marks and wondering if you just are not capable of cleaning your butt. Just saying.
Clean your undies.

Dear Birds,
I know you just made that long flight back. I get it, I really do but must you make all that noise while it's dark?!? Haven't you heard? You're suppose to be quiet at night! Maybe it's just the locals around but really please be quiet, isn't it enough that you wake me up at the crack of dawn? Must you keep me up at night as well?!?
Shut your traps!

Dear Ex,
This town isn't big enough for the both of us. You know this, I know this. Hopefully we can coexist in this town without incident for a few more weeks before my departure. Do you have any duct tape because we can draw the lines all over town. Haha, just kidding (kinda).
Find the tylenol.

Salt & Pepper

Yesterday was a long day, but who doesn't love a good road trip?!?
I'd been there before but I didn't have my camera and since the admission charge is only 3 dollars, I thought, "Hey, why not!" and went thru it again. So.... Welcome to the Salt & Pepper Shaker Museum (ps: I think you can click on the pictures to make them bigger).
Once you get inside you literally become surrounded by S&P shakers!
Room after room is filled with them! They've even got them placed in categories!
The categories include things such as: Fruit, animals, countries, color, etc
Every shelf is covered!
You'll never look at them the same way!
And that my friends is just a small sampling. They have over 20,000 sets! If you get down to Gaitlinburg, TN then you should check out the museum. It's amazing! While I was there I tweeted a few photos, if you'd like to see those as well check me out on twitter!

A First

I've got something super fabulous going on today (that I'll talk about tomorrow) so I thought I'd open up Crazy Shenanigans to a guest. So without further ado, my first post by a guest blogger. Let's all say a hello to, Ms.Random from Random Ramblings

Dear Reader(s),

I am so excited to be a guest blogger for Jennifer today! I have had an amazing time getting to know more about her over the past few months and can't believe she would allow me to dominate an entire day on her blog. Thank you, Jennifer!

After discussing a few of the posts I had written to share with my readers over the next couple of weeks, Ms. Crazy and I chose the following to post on her site today. There are times when I am "light and fun," but this particular post is on the more serious side of my life. It involves an ex, a mistake and the desire to overcome!

I have been in a bit of a love-funk over the past several months. (OKay, to be honest, it has actually been going on for longer than I care to think about.) I have only met a handful of men over the past 5 years that I have truly considered being in a romantic relationship with. Some of them became extremely good friends, but none ever sought me out for more. (I don't care to get into the reasons currently.) This "situation" has caused me to wander from the path and pursue relationships that were all wrong for me. (OKay, there I go lying again. I pursued A relationship that was unhealthy.)

In my post on Sunday, I discussed my deepest desire: to be married. Back in August of last year, I lost all hope of this dream every becoming a reality and it caused me to stumble, more like throw, myself into the arms of a man that I should never have trusted. I'm not trying to place the blame on him for my actions in any way; I knew better. We have been down that road many times before and it has never worked out. However, I began to wonder:
Could I love him completely?
Could he love me completely?
Could we be happy together?
Could I give myself to him with no regrets?
Could this be the only man that will have me?

We finally hit rock bottom in our "relationship" almost two months ago and have now had to sever all ties to one another. I can't begin to express the shame, humiliation and hurt this caused me. I can't begin to tell you how he truly feels because he never expressed it. All I know is that I chased after the wrong man and was left crying on the shoulder of my family and friends when he tired of me.

This past Wednesday, my sister-in-law and I decided to sample Taylor Swift's album Fearless. As we were going through the list of songs, we came across one named White Horse. Mrs. Awesome's first words? "This album may not be the best idea for you right now." You think?

It isn't all his fault. In the beginning I told him I would never want to be with him for the long-hall; he isn't even close to fulfilling THE List. He was under the strong impression that I would never love him and he had no knowledge of what I was completely feeling and contemplating. I wanted to know without a shadow of a doubt that we couldn't make it. I was searching for a conclusion that God actually provided years ago. I experimented with his feelings towards me and he used me to build up his ego and discarded me once he was built up enough to pursue another woman. (He has never seen my worth and I have never understood that.)

He never officially asked for my forgiveness, but he has it none-the-less. He never begged for me to be a part of his life again, but I miss him none-the-less. He never asked to be my prince charming, but I was secretly hoping he would be none-the-less. Stupid girl.

Flashback Friday

Every time I participate in a Flashback Friday, I find myself singing, "Let's do the time warp again". Haha!
This week I'm looking back on something special in my life: Baton Twirling (nope not kidding).
It all started when I was in the 5th grade. I really wanted to be one of those girls in the cute outfit. So I started taking classes, joined a competition team and became a majorette. I twirled all through out middle school, high school and in college. I loved every single minute of it!

Stuck on You

Today is the last day to enter my giveaway, if you haven't done so you can do that here. The winner will be announced Thursday.
Ok... let's talk about my latest obsession: Car Ribbon Magnets.

They are slowly taking over the world. At first you'd see the "Support Our Troops" or the "Breast Cancer Awarness" ones but now there is a ribbon for everything. When I say everything, I mean everything. A few months ago, I saw one on a mini van that said, "Support Strippers" Um...what?!? The last week I saw one that said, "Support lap dances". Wow. Just wow!

You can get one for any cause, sport, country, military branch, job, blank color, saying, etc. Where does it stop? Who knows?

Now, anytime I see one of these magnets on a car, I start to speed up so I can read it. At traffic lights I'm sure people look into their rear view mirror and wonder why I've got my face almost to my glass trying to read their bumper.

So do you have one or more on your car? Do you love them/hate them?

Just A Normal Day...SIKE!

Have you entered my giveaway? You can do so here
I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend. Around my neck of the woods, we relaxed, ate some good food and exchanged Easter baskets. Good times were had by all.

For those of you who follow my tweets then you might already know a part of this story. My block was lit up like a Christmas tree Thursday night. Remember the crazy neighbors that I talk about from time to time? If not you can read about those stories here. Well Thursday night, technically Friday morning (3:30am) they had an accident occur at their home.

I couldn't really sleep that night so I was up reading. All of the sudden I hear this really loud crashing noise, like metal being crunched. I knew something had happened outside so I ran downstairs to look out the windows. I figured with my luck someone had hit my car because I had parked it on the street.

What do I see? I see an SUV mangled and sitting half way up into my neighbors house. The dude had been driving drunk and crashed his car into their house. Oh that's not all... he then tried to get out of the car and make a run for it. My neighbor at this point comes out of the house and starts screaming at the guy and goes off on foot chasing him. By this time the police, ems and fire department are just starting to roll up to the house.

Thankfully no one was hurt inside the house. The parents and two children were ok. My neighbor was actually the one to catch the guy. If he hadn't went after him when the drunk started running then they may not have caught him. Just another day in my crazy neighbor saga.

Hope everyone has a fabulous Monday!

Flashback Friday

Don't forget to enter my giveaway!
In 2007, my uncle Jonathan got married the day before Easter. At the time I was living in Alabama and wasn't for sure if I was going to be able to make the 8 hour drive home for the wedding. Luckily, I was able to make it to the wedding and spend Easter with my family.
Happy Anniversary Jonathan & Megan!

During the wedding my uncle performed a song for Megan. I loved it so much that I hounded him a year later asking him for a copy. Take a listen, you won't have to download it, it just plays when you click on the link:
