Theater Thursday

Welcome to Theater Thursday
Every Thursday around these parts, I pick out a movie on dvd and feature it on the blog. Usually, I go with older stuff but recently I've got on a kick of watching some newer movies. This week's featured movie is, William & Kate
William & Kate is a recent Lifetime original movie based on the courtship of Prince William and his new bride, Duchess Catherine. It follows their college years and the events leading to the day they became engaged.

I know it's kind of cheesy but it really does have some good acting and since it's based on William and Kate it definitely will entertain anyone who loves learning stuff about the Royal Family.

Creepers Gonna Creep

Riddle me this: How many times in a day can creepers come out of the wood work to hit on a person? And why is that anytime you're single no one approaches you but when you're with someone you have to beat them away with a stick?

Well at least one answer to that question is....three.

Creeper #1:
It wasn't raining so I decided to go outside and clean out my car. Little did I know that a high traffic road one block over my house was having construction done on it and all the traffic was being directed down my block. Whatever, so I start cleaning out my car and complete it. Then I move to the dash, where I start cleaning it down with the leather wipes.

I've got my windows down because it was warm and I didn't want to smother. No biggie. Then I see a giant white blog out of the corner of my eye and realize that a truck is just sitting there, in the road and that the driver is just staring at me. Like full on stare. Um... creepy. Then he says it, "You wipe that dash girl."

Creeper 2:
I'm mowing my lawn and it's been over a week since I'd last cut it, with the rain it's grown a lot. My backyard has a small uphill slant so it's kinda rough to mow. So I'm struggling to get it done and I hear over my mower someone trying to get my attention. So I look up and see this dude standing there in khaki shorts riding gangster low, with a white wife beater top that no longer looks white is now a shade of yellow, wearing some G hat, half backwards. And this is what he says to me, " What's up baby girl? Looks like you're having a hard time there, you want me to finish it?"

Well of course at this point, I'm completely creeped out and wanted him to get away from my fence. I politely said no thank you and that it was own fault that I let the grass get that high. I tried to be nice thinking he would take the NO for an answer and that he'd walk away. WRONG! He then says, "So you gotta old man or what?" Um... creepy. Get the hell away from my fence and move along. Now I have to move...

Creeper #3:
So it's evening now and I've already been creeped on by two people. I think I've tapped out on the weird for the day. Wrong. I'm driving to pick up my friend and I have my window half down. I'm going about 45-50mph and I hear someone honking. I think ok maybe I know the people and look over. There's literally a dude hanging out the passenger window of a car, giving me the phone/call me hand. When I start laughing at first because of the whole weird day that I'm having he then starts to raise his shirt and flash me a nipple!

At that point I rolled up the window and never gave them another glance. Creepy!

So have you ever had a creep tastic day?

There's Not Enough Hours In A Day

Seriously, I've learned that there's not enough hours in the day to get everything done. Further more, I've learned that summer time can be the busiest time of the year besides the Christmas season. I need more hours in the day and more days off!

This weekend a few plans got changed but we still managed to have fun. I went and saw, Bad Teacher.
It was hilarious. For some reason, I'm always kinda iffy on Cameron Diaz movies but this one was really funny and completely worth seeing in the theater. Go see it!

I also went to dinner with my bff Erica at one of my favorite places, Bob Evans. Where I got breakfast for dinner. Yum!

I'm pretty for sure that I could eat breakfast foods all day and night without ever getting tired of it. Besides that, it was a pretty low key weekend.

Friday Confessional

I confess... this is the first time I'm participating in Friday confessions and I'm doing it because I have a lot to spill.
Photobucket
I confess... I've been seeing a guy for a few weeks and I like him. Is this a bad thing you ask? Well I'm moving 2,500 miles away so make your own decision on that one.

I confess... I got a Borders gift card for my Birthday and couldn't wait to spend it. I bought Bethenny Frankel's A Place of Yes and the new Charlaine Harris book, Dead Reckoning
I can't wait to read Bethenny's book. I love her and I watch her show anytime I see it's on. I even want to find a bottle of her Skinny Girl but no where around here has had it!

I confess... I'm thinking of ordering HBO just so I can get True Blood Season 4 on Sunday.

I confess... I'm behind on reading a commenting but I swear I'll catch up in the next few days!

I confess... I'm going out of town again this weekend for my friend's Birthday. We're suppose to be going to the Beach Water park in Cincinnati but it's suppose to rain. If it does we'll be heading to the Aquarium, which I love!

My 27th Birthday Recap!

Let me just say first that I had a wonderful Birthday. I wanted something fun, out of town and low key. This birthday had it all.

On Friday, my birthday we headed out of town and went to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. I've been there many, many times and I love that town. Even though I'm there a lot, I hadn't actually visited the theme park Dollywood since 2006 so that's what I wanted to do. The weather was great! We were so afraid it was going to rain but it held off for the entire time we were in town.
We rode all of the rides, ate some good fries and even had a caricature made. I'd never had one done before so my mother and I had one done together.

The caricature being drawn
But want to know the best part about being at Dollywood on Friday.... Dolly Parton was actually there. I even got to see her!
Yes, her boobs are huge. Yes, she's super tiny. Yes, her hair is big and yes, she has recently had some major face work done. She was onsite since it was the first day of Kid's Fest. Besides getting to see her, we also walked through her museum aka shrine of clothing, awards and information. I got to see some of her famous outfits from 9 to 5, Straight Talk and my personal favorite Rhinestone.
After Dollywood, we hit up one of my favorite shows in town... The Dixie Stampede. It just doesn't get any better than that. The food portions are huge, the entertainment is good and it's always fun.
Saturday was the day of shopping. Of course the first stop was to the Incredible Christmas Place. Um... hello. Have you read this blog before? You know I love Christmas and everything related to Christmas decorations!
I got a ton of great stuff... all to be featured in a post of their own. I also scored a new Vera Bradley bag and thanks to the Christmas Place's 25th Anniversary sale, I got it for super cheap! I got the Alice bag in the Loves Me pattern.
Then we found the greatest vintage shop. It was huge. It was probably the largest all vintage store I've ever been in. It was in Knoxville and called Nostalgia.
They had everything from clothing and accessories to furniture and housewares. I got a great jewelry/vanity table top spinner. I'll post about it soon. It was that great of a find. But by far my favorite photo taken from the weekend in TN was this one from Dollywood...
And that my friends is how you turn 27

The Never Ever List

Remeber that episode of Friends where Ross pulls out his list of 5 celebrities that he would get a free pass to sleep with no matter what? Well I've seen a few people on blogs making lists of guys that they would never be with so I thought I would join in on the fun.

My list of 5 guys that I would. Incase you missed it many months ago.

My never, ever list.
1. Orlando Bloom
Every time I see him in movies, magazines or on the internet, he looks dirty. Like doesn't take a bath or wash his hair dirty. I mean, I'll give him a little slack since he has a new born. But come on... he was looking like that before the baby was even created.

2. Russell Brand
Maybe it's the fact that he goes on and on about his past drug use (major turn off) but he seems sleezy and easy to me. I think he's pretty funny though.

3. Billy Bob Thornton
Two words: Blood Vile. Another two words: Angelina Jolie. Enough said.

4. Brad Pitt
Have you seen that mange he has growing on his face? Would it kill him to clean it up and wash his hair?!? I've never though he was cute and his later years are confirming my decision. Plus the fact that he cheated (I don't care what he claims and when he said that relationship began) on Jennifer Anniston. Stop pro-creating.

5. Jon Gosslin
Let's forget the fact that he has 8 children. Let's even look over the fact that he's a chain smoker. What we can't look over his is his love for all things Ed Hardy. That my friends can not be over looked.

The Anniversary of My Birth

 HAPPBIRTHDAY to me!
June 17, 1984 is when I came screaming into the world. Since then I've been tooting my own horn, marching to the beat of my own drummer, creating my own strides and all that other jazz. If I wished for one word on how I'd like people to describe me, it would be unique

I've always said I'd rather be viewed as different than blend in with everyone else.
I'm one more year closer to 30 and guess what? I don't care! It's off to Dollywood I go!

Theater Thursday

It's Thursday and around here that can only mean one thing. It's Theater Thursday! What does that mean? Well every Thursday, I feature a movie that's out on dvd and post about it here! Join in if you want and post a movie that you love too!

This week's featured movie is, MILK

I hadn't watched this movie until recently and it was amazing. Sean Penn portrays Harvey Milk, a San Francisco City Supervisor. Not only was Milk a City Supervisor, he was the first openly gay elected official in the city. Leading over the famous Castro District and fighting for the equal rights of everyone, Harvey sadly only saw the age of 48.

Since Milk is based on the true story of Harvey Milk, I'm not giving anything away. Sadly after only less than a year in office Harvey was assassinated. His legend lives on and changed the way many people viewed homosexual relationships, equal rights and the city of San Francisco.

Milk follows Harvey through the 1970's fighting for rights, trying to get elected and his untimely death. I'd have to say, Sean Penn deserved every award he received because he truly became Milk.

The Local Ice Cream

You know that saving, "The Grass is always greener on the other side"? Well with the upcoming move to California, I can slightly appreciate that saying. There's a few places around my local town that I will definitely miss once I'm gone. I find it ironic and kind of funny that the things I'll miss most about my hometown is local food places.

A place that I'll definitely miss frequenting is the local ice cream place, Austin's Ice Cream
Austin's Ice Cream has been serving the tri-state for decades. We're talking since the depression people. They hand churn all of their flavors on site and feature around 30 season long flavors with a few special flavors mixed in between. This year's new flavor is Birthday Cake!

Amongst the staple flavors such as vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and rocky road, they also have creative flavors such as grape pineapple, bubblegum and amaretto crunch. Besides just offering ice cream, they also offer smoothies, shaved ice (snow cones), banana splits and food such as hot dogs.

I stopped by Austin's the other day and had the chocolate brownie fudge in a cup (you can always get it in a waffle cone) and oh boy! It was good!

Seriously amazing! I can't wait for my next trip to try out another flavor. Maybe it is a good thing that I'm moving?! Or I might just way 400 pounds. If you ever find yourself in my neck of the woods, definitely check out Austin's Home Made Ice Cream!

We're Adults. How do we make this stop?

We're adults. When did that happen? And how do we make it stop?

I'm not gonna lie, summer months make me really miss the days of being in school and getting summer breaks, not working 40 hours a week, spring breaks and easy schedules with friends! I wouldn't give up the knowledge that I have now but man... I kinda wanna go back to those care free days of no bills and easy, uncomplicated relationships.

This weekend I was finally able to hit the theater and see The Hangover 2. I have to say that I liked it but it was in fact almost a carbon copy of the first one. Maybe I was an idiot but I couldn't figure out what happened to Teddy until the end. I'll buy it when it comes out on dvd.
Besides seeing The Hangover 2, the only other thing I did this weekend was hang out in the pool and get errands done. I've been working on that tan and I'm glad to say that I'm getting darker! I feel everyone looks a better with some sun.

What I've been using is, Australian Gold with Instant Bronzer with SPF 15.

Seriously, this stuff is amazing. Get it. I noticed a difference the first time I used it. Plus helped me to actually get sun without burning. I had been using a Banana Boat product but it wasn't help keeping me from burning.
Enjoy your Monday peeps!

Torn... It's Not Just a Natalie Imbruglia Song

I have a very heavy heart. I don't even know really where to start with this so if it comes out like word vomit then I apologize.

As everyone knows who's been reading my blog since at least March, is probably aware that I'm in the process of moving and transferring with work to California. While I am very excited and happy about this, I also have quite a few fears about it. I think the fears are natural for anyone who would be moving 2,500 miles away from everyone they know, their family, their friends and the comforts of knowing where everything is, etc.

I feel the move will be good and I'm in no way regretting it. However I feel like I'll be giving up a lot in the process. Things such as not being able to buy a house within the next year (unless something major happens). I'll be going from a 2 bedroom house into 500-800 sq. ft. apartment and I have no idea how my stuff is going to fit. My uncle and his wife are expecting their first child in November and the fact that I won't be around often to see her grow up. I'll also be missing out on easy trips to Tennessee, weekend getaways to hang out with my friends. The leaves changing in the fall and some great local eateries.

But there's tons of good things about moving too. I'll have more work opportunities and room for advancement. I'll meet all new guys. Hello... I obviously haven't met the one yet. The weather is way nicer and while I won't be experiencing the major leaf colors, I'll never have to experience a 5 foot snow winter again. Then there's the entertainment, there's so much more to do and see in CA! Plus it's so close to surrounding states with fun things to do!

I guess the way I'm feeling is a natural and normal thing but since I've never moved 2,500 miles away I've just never experienced it before. I mean granted I moved 7 hours away to Alabama but I was young and knew I wasn't going to stay there that long. This move is a move for good. Like there's no coming back. It's time to carry on.

Theater Thursday

Every Thursday I feature a movie that I really love. Usually it's something from the 1980's or even the 90's but recently I've found some great new movies worth mentioning. Enjoy this week's edition of...
This week's featured movie is The Ugly Truth.

I hadn't seen The Ugly Truth until a few weeks ago and I loved it. I thought it was a really cute romantic comedy. The Ugly Truth follows the life of Abby Richter (Katherine Heigl), who's a morning show producer in Sacramento, California. When the rates of her news program aren't able to compete with everything else on tv and she faces getting cancelled, her boss brings in a new person to spice things up.

The boss brings in Mike Chadway (Gerard Butler), who's been hosting a late night show on public access called The Ugly Truth. During his show, he lays out the ugly truth about what men think and why women are alone, etc. Instantly, Abby and Mike to do not get along. She believes that everything he says is sexist and untrue. Mike instantly wants to show her he's right and challenges her to follow his rules of dating.

Since Abby is interested in her new neighbor she figures she'll give it a try to prove him wrong. In the mean time her and Mike start getting closer, the ratings start to rise and so does the heat between them.

If you like comedies and romance. Check this one out. It's surprisingly refreshing.

Top 5 Reasons To Be Excited About CA

Since announcing my big move across the country to California, I've been taking the time each week to share with you 5 reasons why I'm excited to move to California. If you've missed any of the previous week's editions check them out here. Without further ado, here's this week's Top 5 reasons why I'm excited about California.
1. The Greek Theater. Located in Los Angeles near the Griffith Park Observatory, the Greek theater offers concerts and shows all year round. They have every rock star imaginable perform there and it's a great outdoor setting!
2. Winery Tours. Napa Valley is wine country in California. I love going around and seeing how places work and how things are made. I have a feeling I'll be making a few trips to Napa to see how they squeeze those grapes!
3. Dodger Stadium. I'm a big fan of spending evenings outdoors in the summer. What better place than to hang out and see a great game? Dodger Stadium!
4. David Lascher. Remember him from Hey Dude? or Sabrina the Teenage Witch? or how about that lifetime movie in the 90's called Twisted Desire? Well guess where I might be bumping into him at? Los Angeles! What a cutie!
5. The Beach! Um... hello. It's the beach. Enough said!
Have any suggestions for great places or things to do in California? You might end up seeing them on here!

Busy Weekend Into a Manic Monday

I don't know about you but I dread Monday's during the summer months. I'd rather be out there having fun in the sun than sitting at a desk all day. Blah!

This weekend was such a great time. If you missed my post on Friday, I bought a pool. I spent the majority of Friday and Saturday in it and got fried like a piece of bacon. Now I'm smearing aloe all over me with the hope that it'll help keep me from peeling.
On Friday we found out the gender of my uncle and his wife's baby.....
They haven't decided on a name yet but they do know that one of the names will be Olivia. I'm so excited for them and I can't wait for the baby shower! I'm going to buy the cutest outfit!
Besides getting that news, I got some great stuff in the mail that I had ordered. I got this dress from Forever 21.
I also got these really great Jessica Simpson Wedges. Mine are a light gold color, which I love!
This weekend, I was also able to cement my plans for my birthday weekend which is rapidly approaching. I'll be heading out of town and going to....

So excited! Even though I've been to Pigeon Forge a lot, I haven't been to Dollywood for a few years! So I'm excited to get to ride the rides and enjoy all the crafts.

Have a wonderful Monday!

It's Getting Hot Out Here

First of all... big shout out to my good friend Cara.
We met in college and pledged the same sorority, in fact I was Cara's big sister. Sadly, when she graduated college it was time for her to head back to Texas and now I don't get much Cara time. Yesterday I got to talk to her and she mentioned she's been reading my blog. Well what do I do when I know my IRL (in real life) friends are reading? Give them a shout out!

Miss you Cara!!! I hope we get to see each other soon!

In other news, summer is here and I bought a pool.
(of course mine isn't this big nor did I build a deck)

Yep, you read that right. Even though I'm moving, I went ahead and bought a pool. I don't know where you live but it's hot here. Like real hot. Which I'm not complaining one bit about because it's way better than all that rain we dealt with non.stop.for.months. However, I want to cool down and get tan the natural way. So it's pool time.

Speaking of moving... I get the question about 30 times a day. When will I be moving? I will hopefully be moving at the end of August. That's all I can say right now but I promise to keep you all updated.

Now I have to go out and run errands early so I can get me a full day of fun in the sun!!! Have a wonderful weekend everyone. I've got tons of vacation plans to fill you all in on come Monday!
