Saying Goodbye to Arco

On Saturday, April 9th we said goodbye to the Arco Arena. If you are a fan of basketball or follow the Sacramento Kings then you know this has been home to the Sacramento Kings for decades. Next year the Kings will be moving to their newly built arena in downtown. So on Saturday with a sold out arena we bid farewell to an era.

The Kings played the Oklahoma City Thunder and won at the final buzzer. It was a great way to say goodbye to the arena. We have been season ticket holders since the first year we started dating. All of our first dates and hang outs were at this arena together. So it's bittersweet to say goodbye to it. We have tons of memories in our relationship there and while we are excited to make new ones in the new arena we are a little sad to leave the old place behind. But hey, we will always have our engagement photos that were taken there!

Farewell Arco! You were great to us for so long!

Weekend Review

We had a very busy weekend! On Friday, I got a nasty stomach bug and didn't think I was going to leave the house all weekend. Then thankfully by Saturday afternoon, I was able to leave the house. On Saturday we hit up our first Sacramento Kings game of the season. The game was against Portland and it was their second pre-season game. The Kings will always have a special place in my heart since that's where Beezy and I first started hanging out a lot.
We didn't keep our season tickets this year for the Kings since we are paying for our wedding but we are thinking about them for the new arena that will be done in 2016. Incase you missed our Kings engagement photos...

On Sunday, we headed to Oakland for the Raiders game against Denver. Remember a few weeks ago when I posted about how I thought they were threatening to climb out of the cellar? Well... just disregard it because they aren't. They've shut the cellar door and thrown away the key. They are now 2-3 and it's not looking pretty. They just need to win! We did have fun tailgating though...

Beezy made tri-tip and hot dogs. I'm pretty for sure we will be eating tri-tip for the next few days. It was yummy!

Luckily our seats are in the shade the majority of the game.

Now it's back to reality and back to work. We have another long week of work and then another busy weekend of Wedding planning coming!

Weekend Update

On Friday, Beezy and I started taking our engagement photos. Months before we ever got engaged we had talked about how cool it would be if we could take some of our engagement photos on the Kings court. It seemed very fitting for us since that's where all of our first dates and hang outs really happened. The Kings got a brand new court this year and their really particular about who they let on it. Their also very selective in what they let people do at the arena. I mean granted they are an NBA team so they have their rules.

Once we got engaged, we kept thinking about how great it would be if we could really have them done. So we took our chances, told them our story and asked them. We basically told them that we would come any day or any time they asked if they would let us take the photos. They made us sweat it out a few days but they granted our request! We had to sign waivers, listen to the rules about equipment on the court and then of course asking me to take of my heels when walking. They gave us 60 minutes and we took full advantage of them! We won't get our photos back for awhile because we still have to take the rest of our engagement photos at the end of the month so for now you'll have to just see the ones we took with our phone...

I can't wait to see how they turned out! That's for sure! Our photographer is great so I'm sure they will!

Saturday, we headed out to get some necessary stuff done. First up was a tire rotation but who really wants to hear about that? Once it was done though we headed over to the Galleria to get Beezy's clothing tailored. We got his suit jacket and dress shirts tailored so they would be a better fit for him and look nicer in photographs.

After he was all finished there, we headed off to register at Macys! This is the last store that we wanted to add to our registry so we set out with a mission. Two hours later we finished it and left the store exhausted.
The workers in the store were really nice though. They helped us get started and then once we were done they gave us all kinds of coupons and enclosures for our invites. Word to the wise, go to the store to register, don't do it online! They give you all kinds of freebies when going to set it up in person.

Saturday evening we hung out with his family and had a pot luck. It was nice. It's also been pouring the rain all weekend. So that's why on Sunday, I sat around and did absolutely nothing but clean and get ready for the week! It's nice to have silent time. Oh and did I mention our wedding website is DONE!

Weekend Update

My weekend is technically still going since today is a holiday.

On Friday, Beezy and I headed out to the Kings vs. Miami Heat game.
The Kings started off their season doing good. For some reason unbeknownst to the public, they fired their head coach and since then they've lost some games they should have won. Lately, it feels like all they've done is lose. We still go to the games though because a lot of times they pull out a win! Plus this is the place we first started really hanging out. It always bring back those memories. Sadly, Friday night the Kings lost to the heat. They were missing one of their best players due to injury. It was also Knock Out Cancer night at the arena...

On Saturday, we started shopping for outfits for our engagement photos. Our photographer has been great so far. He's giving us unlimited time, is willing to drive to our locations that we want to shoot at and letting us change our clothes as much as we want for these photos. We plan on shooting basically all day so we'll be able to capture day and night photos. So they gives us a wide range of what we'll need to wear. Here's a really honest moment for me, I'm the heaviest I think I have ever been in my life right now. So picking out outfits is hard. I've been watching what I eat and trying to be better the last two weeks but obviously it takes time to lose weight the right way. In the meantime though, we have engagement photos to take so I'm trying to hide the weight and look nice in these photos. I'm hoping to lose at least 10 pounds for this wedding. So far I've got one outfit together, which is our casual one. We are wearing Kings clothing so I got these pants at Bebe...
As for the other outfits, I have no idea. The hunt will continue. Suggestions are very welcome. We are also having an engagement party and I'm trying to find a dress for that.

On Sunday, we hung out at home and it was amazing. We haven't done this on a weekend since before December. We didn't have any obligations to go places, we didn't need to be anywhere at a specific time. It was magical. I did go and get my nails done so that was nice. I think I've found the polish I want for the wedding...

Minus the teal. I'll do all silver and glitter for the wedding. I love it! Besides getting my nails done, we watched Jack Ryan. Neither one of us had seen it before. I thought it was good, he thought it sucked. Tamato tomato.

The highlight of the weekend was when we went to eat at Lucilles. I was very excited about the macaroni and cheese side. That was until it was served to me with a curly black hair embedded into it. Gag! I get that mistakes happen but that will take away your appetite real quick. They were really nice though and comp'ed me my meal.

Weekend Review

Last week, Beezy and I went to the Kings game and watched them take on Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder. We love the games so win or lose we always enjoy going. This game they came away the winners.

On Saturday, Beezy and I headed out to our first store to register for our wedding. We've decided to register at three places. We are doing Amazon, Macys and Target. We feel that's a really good mix for us. So on Saturday we headed to Target to get our registry on. Afterwards we were a little tired but we soldiered on and finished our Amazon list. Two down one to go. Dear Macy's please be easy to do! We have a lot there we want to register for.

We also started asking people to be in our wedding party. We found these really great glasses on Etsy and bought them immediately when we saw them. We knew they would be the perfect way to ask him friends/family to be on his side in the wedding...

So when we saw the guys he wanted to be his groomsmen for the wedding this weekend it was the perfect time to surprise them with the glasses and ask.
So needless to say, we have the groomsmen! Now I just need to officially ask my maid of honor and bridesmaids if they'll walk down the isle with me.

As for the rest of our weekend, we just hung out. I spent the majority of Sunday taking down Christmas decorations. Everything is down except one tree. Next weekend I'll deal with that one. I'm ready for my three day weekend!

Weekend Review- The Best One Yet

Last week was such a whirlwind. We started off last week by getting engaged. Best Monday of my life. It was perfect. When I think about Beezy getting down on one knee, I could cry all over again. It was magical and so full of love. I was also completely touched by the outpouring of love from our families, friends and all the comments and congratulations.
About one minute after getting engaged.

On Thursday we celebrated our anniversary. If you heard about the weather this past week in Sacramento then you heard the term, "The worst storm in a decade" being used. So what happens when torrential rain, flooding and 40+ mph wind hit town? You change your plans a little. I was surprised at work with these...
Last year when we first started dating, Beezy sent me a Christmas flower arrangement while I was in West Virginia visiting my mom. I love that this arrangement was also a Christmas theme. It's kind of a tradition now!

Once I got off work and made it home in the rain, (thankfully no major flooding on my roads), we decided to go ahead and head back out into the rain to go to our reservations for dinner. Beezy had made these reservations and wouldn't tell me where. I literally didn't have any idea where we were eating until I was getting out of the car for the valet.
We dined at Ella Dining Room and Bar. It's downtown and very nice. Beezy had the steak and I got a pork chop. Seriously the best pork chop I've ever had. It was also the size of my arm. The thing was huge! We couldn't believe how big it was.

Despite the rain we had a great anniversary. Did we exchange presents? Of course we did! Beezy made me an 11x17 photo book with all of our greatest hits in it from the past year. I bought him a suit jacket he had been wanting.

Saturday we hit up the Kings game vs. Detroit Pistons. This was our first game as being engaged. Since that's where it all started it was fitting to spend our first weekend engaged at the game. Love you boo!
The Kings lost the game but since their best player is out sick it wasn't too big of a surprise. We still had fun though and after the game the fun continued. We headed out to see a few Christmas lights.
Now that was a good weekend. I don't know how we'll top that one for awhile!

Weekend Review

I always hate to see the weekends come to an end.

On Friday, Beezy and I headed out to the Apple store. While he waited in the line there, I walked over to Sephora and drooled over the Urban Decay makeup. Afterwards, we went to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. I love their deep fried macaroni and cheese hamburger. I get it any time we go there. If you haven't tried it... be warned. It's addictive!

On Saturday, Beezy and I spent the day at his dad's house. His Uncle Joe passed away about two weeks ago and yesterday they had a family ceremony ending with the military coming to fold the flag. I hadn't met a lot of that side of his family so even in the sad circumstances it was nice to meet them. They tried to make it a day of getting together with family to celebrate rather than being sad. His dad's back yard is a fairly good size so everyone was able to fit in.
Beezy and his dad aka Edward James Olmos. They are so similar yet Beezy would never admit it. He's also very similar to his mom in many ways. It was good to see his dad as always though.

Later that night after the ceremony was over, we headed to the arena to watch the Kings take on the San Antonio Spurs. The Kings had started off the season really great getting 5 wins. Then they lost 3 games on the road so we really needed a win. If you don't know it, the Spurs won the championship last year so we knew this was going to be a rough game.
It was also Veterans Appreciation night, so instead of sitting in our regular seats we were further over and sitting right at center court. It was very nice of the Kings to give us the seats. Thank you Beezy for all your years served!
Before the game

The score was close the entire game. The crowd supported them and the Kings were able to pull out a win! We'll be at the game on Tuesday and we are hoping for another win! Come on Kings... climb out of the cellar!

Sunday. We relaxed. I wrapped Christmas presents. Skyped with my mom and mentally prepared for a very busy week at work. I'm responsible for my agency's awards ceremony and it's this Wednesday. I've been working on this ceremony for two months now. I can't wait till it's over and hopefully a success!

Happy Monday!

The Kings Are Back!

Tonight starts the 2014-2015 Sacramento Kings season! Woo hoo!

Last year Beezy was a season ticket holder and we went to a ton of games together. I think we'll always have a special place in our hearts for the Kings. This is where Beezy and I started spending a lot of time together and hanging out frequently. We would go to the games and sit and laugh together. We'd make up nicknames for people that we'd see over and over attending the games and just have special moments. It all went down right in Section 108 together. He'd pay for the tickets and parking and I'd buy him drinks and food. We always had our system. We'd get there, get our food and drinks and head to the seats. Then of course came the photos. We started the tradition without even realizing it. Before every game we'd take a photo together. One of us was usually unhappy with how it turned out so we'd take a few before we got one we both liked enough to post. That's where these originated...

Like I said, we went to a lot of games together. So naturally when this season started to roll around we went in on season tickets. Why wouldn't we? It's here in Sacramento, it has a special place in our hearts and we enjoy going to the games. So we went and picked out our seats a few months ago with his cousin (who's splitting some of the games with us).

This year we're sitting in a new section so we're sure to see some interesting new characters. But I know one thing, we're going to have a great time at the games! So last week when the box came from FedEx with our Kings tickets in it for the season we were very excited. When you're a season ticket holder your tickets are actually on a card like a credit card. So you can just scan the card and enter the game. If you want an actual ticket printed you can do it at home or show it on your mobile app.

Tonight is the first pre-season game and I bet you know where you can find us! Hopefully these guys will be looking good and win, win, win! If you happen to be at the game and see us say hello! We aren't shy!
