Wedding Dancing! Bust a Move!

When we were planning our wedding reception we wanted it to be fun. We had this formal dinner planned but after we wanted people to be able to get out of their seats and let loose. I had quite a few friends from college fly out for the wedding and I knew they knew how to cut a rug. I wasn't worried about them blending in with all of our other guests. So when we put o the dancing music the floor was packed with people busting moves.

We of course kept dancing together.

And then there was the real dancing...

Everyone had to dance to the West Virginia theme song Country Roads

Our First Dance

When discussing the music for your wedding people immediately want to know what the first dance song will be. In our case it was no different... inquiring minds wanted to know. There was much debate inside our wedding party about what our first dance song would be. My husband is a huge John Legend fan so they were banking that it was something from his collection. We refused to tell any of our family and guests what our first dance song was and made them wait till it started playing. The only person that knew was our DJ.

The morning of the wedding my bridesmaids had a pool going on what our song would be. We got tons of rhythm & blues guesses but no one ever guessed our song. I also got a lot of Elvis guess since all of my friends know how I'm an avid fan. While Elvis was not our first dance song we did have two of his songs played for big moments.

Our first dance song was, Stand By Me by Ben E. King.

Not sure if you know the song? You can hear it here.

We had been given dance lessons but we chose not to do a choreographed dance. We wanted it to be natural and fun. It worked for us and when it came down to it, it felt like the longest two minute song ever because literally all eyes will be on your dancing.

What was your first dance song?

One great movie...

Shag: The Movie
Tonight, I watched one of my all time favorite movies...Shag! I absolutely love this movie. I've probably seen it at least 50 times. It's such a feel good movie, it always makes me laugh and smile. If you've never seen it, go check it out! The soundtrack is pretty good as well!

Shag, takes place in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina the summer of 1963. Four girlfriends, head down there for a fun filled weekend before "Carson" is to marry "Harlon", of course they get there and nothing goes the way it was planned. I really do love this movie. I love the fact that it takes place at Myrtle Beach and I love the fact that it's set in the 60's. If I could go back and pick where I wanted to be born, I would definitely have picked to be a teen/early 20's in the 1960's. I love the music and I just think the world/people were so much different. Love it...

Another reason why I love it so much is because of the character "Pudge". I see alot of myself in her. She feels that she isn't the prettiest of the bunch, but she makes up for it in personality. She's so funny and always cares for the others of the group. Her main wish for the weekend is to have fun and hopefully get some shag dancing in. By chance she meets Chip, a really intriguing guy who's headed off to Annapolis. It's so cute...(you'll have to watch it to find out what happens). I always root for her at the shag contest. By far...the best scene in the movie is the beach scene. It's so cute....boys like that are hard to find. Ok...that's my push for everyone to watch this movie. I LOVE IT!
