Theater Thursday

Don't forget about the Stella & Dot Trunk Show  that I'm hosting! It's going on till June 20th. Incase you missed it, check out yesterday's post  because it was all about it!

It's Thursday and that can only mean one thing, it's Theater Thursday! This week's featured movie is Amazon Women on the Moon
To be honest, I had never even heard of this movie until last night. I was watching, Watch What Happens Live on Bravo and Steve Guttenberg was on as a guest. He was asked what role he wishes he wouldn't have taken and he mentioned this movie. Um... that means it's probably something hilariously bad and something I have to watch pronto!

I have now got this on my watch list and can't wait! I figured if the Gutt is willing to mention it on live tv it's got to be worth watching. Check it out! Anyone seen it?

Memorial Day Weekend

Hey folks! Hope all of you had a fabulous Memorial Day Weekend. I spent mine enjoying some time off and getting my tan on. I don't know about your cities but in mine it was hot and when I say hot, I mean in the 90's and major humidity.
Thank goodness for a  huge pool. I was able to relax and cool off when the heat just became too much.

I also took advantage of the Memorial Day sale at one of my favorite online stores and got this little beauty...
It's from Le Mode and it's called the Egyptian Goddess Necklace. I can't wait to get it and wear it! I have two weddings coming up and bridal shower so I have plans for this beauty! When I was done shopping the sales online, I hung out with my favorite (only) guinea pig.. Frosty.  She says "Hello" to everyone out there in internet land.
I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend. I don't know about everyone else but the summer months are always the busiest for me.

Dear Kristin

I have two best friends and today one of them turns a year older.
Happy Birthday Kristin!
We met in August of 2003. We were both pledging the same sorority and became best friends almost instantly. I practically lived in her dorm room that year. Over the years through moves, jobs, relationships, health issues, adventures, heartbreaks and smiles we've always been there for each other.
I know no matter what she's only a phone call away and vise versa.
You are family Kristin, love you buddy! Happy Birthday!

I've read the trilogy twice now and stalk the internet daily to hear the latest gossip about the upcoming movie. So when I remembered that Pinterest Wednesday was coming, I knew that I had to join in and dedicate it to all things Fifty. So without further ado...

The Good,The Bad & The Ugly

The Good
The Olympics are coming! I love the Olympics and I always try to watch as much as I possibly can. It doesn't matter if it's summer or winter, I always soak up the spirit of the games. I can't wait for this years because their in one of my favorite places... London! In the summer games the swimming and gymnastics are always my favorite sports to watch.

The Bad
Lately, life has been getting me down. I think it's been a big combination of a lot of things going on. I'm working my way out of debt which is hard. I'm working everyday in an environment that isn't all rainbows and sunshine. Plus my birthday is coming up next month and I'm turning the big 28 and this one has me a little down. As my mom would say, buck up! So I need to work on that.

The Ugly
The fact that FOX cancelled Alcatraz. I mean really Fox, what were you thinking?? This show was really good and it was just starting to get really interesting. How do they ever expect people to watch their new shows when they keep pulling the plug on them so quickly. They did the same thing with Terra Nova. No wonder people aren't watching the new shows because you can't get invested in something if you think it's going to be gone in a second.

Theater Thursday

It's Thursday and that can only mean one thing... it's Theater Thursday! This week's featured movie is, Friends With Benefits.
I first saw this movie while it was in the theater and instantly loved it. Friends with Benefits follows the unexpected friendship between Dylan (Timberlake) and Jamie (Kunis),  who meet when Jamie recruits Dylan to work for GQ Magazine in NYC. Dylan moving from LA to NYC only knows one person in the city, Jamie.

Since both of them have just got out of relationships, they vow to be just friends but with benefits. They decide to leave the emotions at the door and just enjoy being in the moment with each other because of their past relationships. However, when Dylan asks Jamie to head back to the west coast with him for Thanksgiving, it takes their friendship to a whole new level and stage.

If you haven't seen this movie, check it out. It's a fun, romantic, comedy that will surely leave you smiling.

A Twist on my Transfer/Move

If you missed my last update on my work transfer and moving you can find that post here

This post is now what's come after that. It's now been 424 days since I turned in my transfer and how long I have been waiting to move. The good news is that I was told that I'm still sitting at number one on the wait list and that the next available spot would be mine. The bad news is that they told me they had no idea when they would pull from the list and that for the foreseeable future they will only be taking part time people.

Umm.... part time? Who can afford to live anywhere in the USA let alone the state of California on a part time salary? I know I can't. So their decision to only take part time people has made me reevaluate what I'm going to do. You see, as an employee in my current job, I can have 3 open transfer requests in at the same time. The entire 424 days I have had three California locations listed: Sacramento, Burbank and Long Beach.

As of right now yes, I'm number one on the transfer list for Sacramento but as for the other two I am very far down as in the 20's and 30's. Those numbers are after waiting 424 days. So I've made the ultimate decision to remove Long Beach and replace it with one of these locations...
Seattle
or
Las Vegas
I just can't decide which one to put on the list. To me they both have their plus and negatives. I've been to Vegas a few times but not Seattle. There's something about it though that draws it to me. If any of you have ever lived in either of these cities or currently do, please e-mail me (jmomiller@gmail.com) and give me your opinions. I need all the advice that I can get!

Until I decide which city to replace Long Beach with I will still be sitting on the list for Sacramento and Burbank. Here's to crossing your fingers!

Fifty

Fifty Shades of Grey.

Wow.
I mean really... wow! I picked up the first book a little over a week ago and finished the entire trilogy in nine days. At first, I was a little apprehensive about the series. Usually a book with a lot of hype is either going to be really good or a bomb. Well let me tell you, this series was no bomb. And I'm already begging for more! Dear E.L. James, I am willing you to write another book and it continue from Christian's perspective.

I want more Christian Grey! If you haven't read the books or if you're struggling (as I've heard some people are) to get through the third book then trust me... keep reading! The ending chapters of Christian's narrative was more than enough of an incentive to finish the book. Plus I can never just stop reading a book. I always have to finish them.

Now that I've read the books, I've got my eyes out for all things 50 Shades. I keep looking at entertainment news on the latest gossip on who may play Christian and Anastasia. Also I'm really wondering who will play Elena aka Mrs. Robinson. I'm hoping that Ellen Barkin will get that role...
To me Ellen Barkin is completely Mrs. Robinson. She's got the look down for sure! As for Christian and Anastasia, I have my ideas as to who I could see playing them but I beg for the love of all that's good that Kristen Stewart does not have any role in the movie. I think her acting is horrible and she'll be no match for whoever they get to play Mr. Grey aka Sir.

Have you read the book? Do you love it and if so you do you hope to see in the movie?

Theater Thursday

It's Thursday and that can only mean one thing around here... it's Theater Thursday! This week's featured movie is an oldie but a goodie, Westward The Women
Made in 1951, Westward the Women follows the lives of 200 women on an adventure that will take them from Chicago, IL all the way out west to California.

Set in a time where out west ended basically at Texas, these women have been hand selected by Buck Wyatt (Robert Taylor) to make the trip out to California. These women are traveling across a treacherous path to the west and over the rocky mountains so they can meet their future husbands. Buck's farm is filled with all men who are lonely and need companionship while they start to populate California.

Many of the women don't understand the kind of journey they'll have to endure to get there but with Buck's assistance and the women's perseverance they might just get there. They'll have to find strength within themselves and among each other.

Weekend Review

The rain was relentless here on Thursday, Friday and most of Saturday. On Friday morning I woke to hear water pouring in the basement. Not cool. Apparently the city's system couldn't handle the amount of water and the fact that my house is on an easement. Then the city took their sweet time getting to my house. Then proceeded to do nothing.

Saturday, the same thing keeps going on. The water is pouring into the basement and when I say pouring, we could have filled one of those pools for kids in the backyard with the water coming in. The city again didn't come to the late afternoon and did nothing to fix the problem. Sunday they finally came and worked for 2 hours. The water has finally stopped coming in but I can't use any water till Monday morning.

Since for most of the weekend, I sat around listening to the water pour into the house, I caught up on my reading and started this book...
I'm already over 200 pages in and I am loving it! I've never read anything like this before and I must say it's really good. I'm intrigued by Mr. Grey. I will have to get the second book so I can start reading so I can start it once I finish the first.

I also started watching the first season of a classic 1990's show, Family Matters.
I forgot how funny this show use to be. I'm almost done with season 1 and I'm surprised by the fact that Urkel was only in a handful of episodes that first season. I'd have to say that this was definitely one of my favorite shows growing up. It was a staple in the TGIF line up and it was always one of those shows I never missed as a kid.

Now another work week commences until I can get my two days of rest and relaxation.

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

The Good
The work week is finally over!!! Cue the music because that makes me SO excited! In addition to being off work the weather has been showing signs of it being summer. Yesterday it was 90 degrees! I would rather be sweating non stop that freezing all day and night. Also... are you watching this?
It's one of those spring show replacements so I'm hoping that it's getting good ratings. I want it to stay.

The Bad
I had a job interview on Monday for a position that's inside the same agency that I already work for. The interview went extremely well but on Thursday I was informed that I was not chosen for the position. However, they did tell me that I blew them away in the interview. Um.... If I blew them away then why didn't they offer it to me? for reals

The Ugly
Over the last few weeks, I've been going through a few things. Basically stuff that isn't all sunshine and rainbows and because of that I've found myself a little down now and then. I'm hoping that soon my blue moods disappear for good. Here's to hoping!

Theater Thursday

It's Thursday and that can only mean one thing... it's Theater Thursday! This week's featured movie is, For Richer or Poorer
Tim Allen and Kirstie Alley star as Brad and Caroline Sexton. They are a filthy rich couple living in New York City but living miserably with each other. Deciding on their anniversary that they want a divorce the next morning brings them even bigger news. Their account has screwed over their finances with the IRS and flees town just as the IRS comes to get Brad and Caroline.

Escaping from the city, Brad and Caroline have to learn to get along in the place least most likely that they'd ever be found... Amish country.

Posing as cousins to the Yoders they spend their days learning how to farm and sew. All while trying to figure out how to return to NYC and not be in trouble with the IRS. Their only link and hope is their lawyer that they've secretly been in contact with since escaping the city. Will the Sexton's survive Amish country and will their marriage really be over?

All Work And No Play

The last few days have been so busy. Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that once the warmer temperatures arrive and the summer months start up that schedules get jam packed!?!

Over the last few days, I have put in multiple 11-12 hour days and that's left me with very little socializing time. However, this weekend my bff Erica comes into town from South Carolina and I can't wait to see her! After a decade in school, a bachelors degree and two masters she is finally done with college! Woohoo! She's using all of that hard work and will be working in the good old library.
Congrats Erica!!!

Besides working non stop this past weekend, I also had yet again another job interview. I feel like that's all I've done lately but I feel like these interviews will get somewhere eventually. I mean right? At least that's what I'm hoping and holding out for. Come on transfer!!! It's been over a year of waiting but I've got patience.

With working so much lately, I really haven't had much time for anything else. Hopefully this weekend I'll get to have some fun and then I'll actually have something to blog about come next Monday!
