Theater Thursday
It's Thursday and that means it's Theater Thursday! I love movies and almost every Thursday on here you'll find me talking about a movie that's available to watch at home. Since yesterday was my Birthday, I'm going to pick one of my favorite movies that I loved watching when I was a teenager. Who am I kidding? I still love watching this movie. This week's featured movie is, My Father The Hero.
My Father The Hero came out in 1994. I was in middle school and totally wanted to be Katherine Heigl. TI was obsessed. I wanted to dress like her, go to the bahamas and stay at the resort that she did (that still rings true) and I was loving the music. I totally knew who the Baha Men were years before they got a big hit (Who Let the Dogs Out!). If you haven't seen it then you need to watch it...
The movie follows Nikki (Heigl), a 15 year old girl who is headed to spend her yearly two week vacation with her estranged father Andre (Depardieu). Andre lives in Paris, France with his girlfriend. This time he's come to New York to pick up his daughter and head to the Bahamas for the two of them to spend some quality time together. This year though he's noticed how much Nikki has grown up in the past year. Nikki wants nothing to do with this vacation and she is determined to let Andre know that fact.
Once they touch down in the Bahamas, they arrive at their plush resort (The One and Only Ocean Club) and she immediately runs into Ben (Dalton James). A local guy who works at the resort. She is instantly smitten on and what happens? She runs into a table in front of him. To try to impress him she lets on that she's a runaway and Andre pretends to be her father but is her boyfriend. Ben doesn't know what to think but he likes Nikki and wants to help her. He pleas with her to leave Andre and stay in the Bahamas with him.
When everyone around the resort starts to hear that Andre is her boyfriend and that he's basically with a child they start to shun him. He has no idea what is going on until it gets to be too much for Nikki and she comes clean with her dad.
And that's when things start to get really interesting... If you want to know what happens you have to watch!
If you've seen this movie and have questions come ask me on instagram! You can find me at jmomiller. I'm telling you this movie is fun and campy and I still love it!

Birthday Wish List
As I get ready to turn another year older, I thought I'd mention a few little things I'd love to get this year for my Birthday.
1. The Christmas Vacation Village.
Department 56 is doing the National Lampoons Christmas Vacation houses and they are too cute! Since I love the movie and I'm obsessed with Christmas it's a perfect match. They also have the sled shack and the kids playing on the saucers. Be warned... the set is expensive and each piece is priced individually.
2. The Chocolate Truffle Christmas Tree.
I wanted this tree last year for a new themed tree in my house but I just didn't end up getting it. This year I'd like to add it to my collection and make a whole new display. Since we are in the new house and have the room it would look perfect! It's an unlit tree and I already have the perfect lights to go on it. It can be found on Treetopia.
3. Grey.
I read all of the Fifty Shades of Grey books and saw the movie. I hadn't heard anything about another book until this past week and I immediately wanted it. It technically doesn't come out until the day after my birthday. I can't wait to get it and read it. I love that this book is from Christian's perspective.
4. California and West Virginia Pillows. Ok... and the Tennessee.
I first saw these while we were on a weekend trip in Las Vegas. They are completely embroidered and they are so cool. It has things that are local to each state and includes landmarks. I think these are great but their expensive! Like over 100 dollars for each pillow. Maybe I'll have to just wait and ask Santa for these.
I'm sure that no matter what, I'll have a good Birthday. For the first time in a few years, I'm actually going to work on my Birthday so it doesn't really feel like I'll be celebrating it that much. Maybe I'm just not into it this year. Usually, I'm more excited about birthday but this year I just feel kinda blah about it.

Weekend Review
The hustle and bustle of life has really ran us ragged lately. I was so thankful that on Friday night we were able to order a pizza and stay in. We watched a movie together and just stayed home. We haven't had a weekend in forever that we haven't had multiple commitments so we were taking full advantage of this one. It's the last one we will have for about 3-4 more weeks.
On Saturday, we went and saw Jurassic World.
Can you believe it made 82 million dollars the first day it opened? Crazy! The movie is over 2 hours long so fair warned. I thought the movie was really good. The first Jurassic Park will always be the best but this one was pretty good. I'm a little bummed that Jeff Goldblum didn't make a guest appearance or any of the other main characters from the original. Chris Pratt definitely carried the entire movie. When Hollywood recently called him the new IT guy they were right. When's the next Guardian of the Galaxy?
I also finally found some time to read my favorite author, Stuart Woods. He has three new books out this year so I had to catch up. I'm constantly looking on his website to see if he's doing any signings close to me. He was in LA last summer but that was a little too far to go. I'm currently reading...
I know I've said it before on here but if you really love a good mystery book. His Stone Barrington series is the best! Start with the very first book New York Dead because they build upon each other.
On Sunday, I got up and made us some good breakfast. And by good I mean Bacon and hashbrowns.
Then we spent the afternoon watching a Christmas movie...
Nope not even kidding. We totally watched it and it got me completely geared up for the holidays! I love it. It's my favorite time of the year and I'm always thinking of new ways to decorate! The countdown is on! I even got on the Hallmark website and checked out the ornaments set for release this year. They've got so many great ornaments coming out, I want them all!

Five On Friday
1. One of my bridesmaids is in town for two weeks and we went and got her dress for the wedding.
Now the only thing I need to do is pick out shoes and jewelry for them to all wear. I'm thinking silver shoes and large earrings. Thoughts? Any suggestions?
2. We've started to watch America's Got Talent. In all the years that it's been on television, I've only seen maybe 2 episodes. That was until this past week. We are all about the new season of AGT. I think Mel B is hilarious when it comes to singers and Howard loves the crazy stuff lol. So far, I thought this guy was hilarious for his comedy...
3. I got my nails done at a new place and they did a great job.
I thought they were a little snotty but they did such a good job, I think I would go back. The only thing I hate is that they are so busy you have to make an appointment to be seen.
4. Tesco has never done this before and in the last two weeks we've caught him numerous times trying to take water out of drinking cups.
We change his water daily and even give him ice to make sure he has cold water. You know what's embarrassing when guests come over? Having your cat come over to the table and try to drink your water. Tesco stop it!
5. I want to go on vacation so bad. No joke.

Five On Friday
2. We had our first guests over to the house this past weekend and they brought us a house plant. I love Orchids so I was excited to get this mini one. Now let's just hope I can keep it alive.
3. Speaking of plants I have been obsessed with hydrangeas for the past two weeks. They have been in full bloom all over downtown so when I'm walking around on my lunch and breaks I've seen them in tons of colors. These purple ones are my favorite but I really like the blue ones that I've seen.
4. I really want these shoes...
Their by Betsy Johnson and their suede. I've always wanted a blue suede shoe from the moment I heard Elvis sing about them. I don't know for what reason but I've never actually owned a pair. I think it's time to finally get a pair, don't you?
5. This movie and it's quotes will never get old...

Weekend Review
On Friday, Beezy and I went out for date night. Once I was out of work, we headed out to town and ate at Lucca's.
We had only ever ate there once and it was last year for a graduation dinner so when we decided to go there we didn't know what their normal menu was going to be like. Happily they had giant pork chops and I happily ordered it! I love a good pork chop.
Once we left dinner we headed to the movies to see the Rock's newest movie, San Andreas. Beezy wanted to see this movie really bad. We had even tried to see a sneak peek on Tuesday but got there too late to get into the theater. Since we live in California it hits a little too close to home because Sacramento is only a little under two hours away from San Francisco where the majority of the movie takes place. That being said, the movie was pretty good and the 2 hours passed quickly.
On Saturday we had people over to the new house. We grilled out and showed them the house. Beezy's cousin is in town from Washington D.C. so it was nice seeing her. We haven't seen her since we were in Puerto Rico last March. Before they came over, I of course had to work on the house. We've only been here about two weeks so we aren't fully unpacked yet. I'm hoping to have the house unpacked before the end of June!
I did get some cute house stuff from Hobby Lobby though...
It's totally going with the bathroom theme and I can't wait to reveal it! Have a happy week!
