Oscar 2019

The 91st Oscars Ceremony is in the books!

I think this might have been my favorite one since Ellen hosted. For me and millions of others, the highlight of the show was Lady Gaga and Bradley's performance of Shallow. What a great song, performance and couple. If only they were officially together.

The best speech in my opinion was Olivia Coleman. Like everyone else on the planet, she too was shocked that she won! She clearly didn't think she had a chance because she had no speech written and was going completely off the cuff. It was super cute and heartfelt though and everyone in the room was in shock with her.

Now... the fashion...
These were my favorite top 4 looks

First up, Jennifer Lopez aka JLO

I loved everything about this look. The dress, the color, her bag, her hair! I have a hair appointment on Friday and I'm about to show them this picture and say make it happen.

Next up, Emma Stone...
I loved the color and design of this dress. Not that many people can pull off shoulders like that but Emma sure can.

Third, Emilia Clark, aka Queen of Game of Thrones.

The soft coloring and the design work on this dress was stunning on the carpet. I loved it but her brown hair threw me for a loop! I'm so use to seeing her as a blonde.

Last but not least... Lady Gaga!
This dress was amazing and the gloves were a nice accent but let's talk about that diamond. At first I did a double take!
The famous Tiffany yellow diamond has only been worn three times and this was the first time at the Oscars. It comes with two bodyguards as well. Not to be mistaken for the Isadora diamond.

What were some of your favorite looks at the Oscars this year?

Golden Globes 2019

I love award season in Hollywood. Hollywood rolls out the red carpet and the essences feels old Hollywood. Men dress up in tuxes and the women try to out do each other in jewelry and fashion. I feel like it’s one thing that has remained from old Hollywood times and I love it.

The Golden Globes always sets the tone for the awards season in fashion and for the front runners in the awards leading up to the Oscars. Here’s a few of my favorites!
Regina King

 Lady Gaga
Emily Blunt
Nicole Kidman
Bradley Cooper

Who were some of your favorites??

Kashmere Kollections

I have been a faithful follower of Kim Zolciak Biermann since she was on The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Then when she left and got her own show, Don't Be Tardy for the Party I continued to watch. I also loved her wedding special that Bravo aired. I think she's hilarious and her entire family is over the top. When she announced a few months ago that she was coming out with a skincare line I was instantly interested in trying it.

For months I waited on updates of when it was launching and when I could finally get my hands on some of it. Over the holidays, they were offering a major discount code and I couldn't pass up a Spa Kit Bundle they were offering. Currently she has five products in her Kashmere line and I ordered three of them. I wanted to order one more but it was sold out when I placed my order.

The spa kit included three of her five products:

Luxurious Toning Oil
Firming Cream
Purifying Masque

Kim also has a silken body polish (this was the other item I wanted but was sold out) and a sunless tanning lotion. While I'm not one to use selfless tanner, I really did want to try the body polish which is a scrub. So I ordered my spa kit and waited. I don't know if it was because of the holidays or what but I had to wait several weeks to receive my order. I believe the Spa Kit was only scheduled to ship on certain dates but when it arrived it was perfect. It came in the cute packaging shown above and when I opened the box, I was ready to use!

First up was the purifying masque.
Since I had my miscarriage in July, my face and honesty my chest too has seen some breakouts. My face literally reverted back to when I was about 15 years old. I was getting constant heavy breakouts for weeks. So the face masque was something I was interested in trying because I was hoping that it would help. In the meantime, while I was waiting on this product to arrive, I started getting my breakouts under control thankfully!

How to use the masque. I had to read the directions because I have never been one to apply a liquid masque and wait for it to dry. I had always been one of those paper mask girls who would wear them for a few minutes, peel them off and be done. The Kashmere face masque, you apply an even layer to freshly cleansed skin. Once you apply the masque you let it try for about 10 minutes and then wash it off with warm water.

After my first use, I felt like my face had instantly smoother skin. The first week that you use the product you should use it several days in a row then taper off to once a week. I did this and noticed a major improvement in my face. My skin was softer after the first two uses. I would notice that my skin wasn't getting as dry as it had been and during the day my skin felt softer. I also noticed my pores didn't seem as large and my skin wasn't breaking out. The masque also didn't leave a horrible smell like some can do.

Second up was the firming lotion.
It goes on just like any other lotion you would use but after a few seconds this one begins to make your skin feel a little warm and tingly. I believe that's when you know it's working. I've been using it on my legs and on my stomach and it definitely makes it feel a little tighter. I've also put this on my arms but I haven't put it on my backside like I've read in some of the reviews I've seen. I'll keep putting it on my legs because I see the most benefit there and to my stomach.

Last but not least.. the toning oil.
This is by far my favorite product in the set. It smells amazing. I'm a person who can't handle scents in lotions that are too much fragrance but this toning oil is the perfect mix. It smells like a coconut/lime but not too coconut. It's really hard to describe but it just has that perfect mix. It goes on your skin easily and doesn't require you to wait forever before putting your clothing on top of it. It dries almost instantly once you rub it into your skin and gives it the most amazing sheen. I literally love this stuff and the bottle goes down really slowly! I've been lathering it on my arms, legs and hands every day for a few weeks and the amount in the bottle barely goes down. Seriously, I almost want to stockpile it incase something happens and the company doesn't make it.

I've heard that Kim has several new products in the works and I can't wait! Every time she has a LIVE chat or instagram I ask her about a night cream or face cream and she assures me and the world that their coming. I know that she's confirmed Shampoo/Conditioner and bath bombs. So until she officially puts them in her shop we just have to wait!

Have you tried Kashmere Kollections? What did you think of them?

The 89th Academy Awards

I follow the Award season every year. I love seeing all the fashion, hearing the jokes, listening to the heartfelt acceptance speeches, etc. This year has been a little different for me though.... it's become really politically charged. While I feel everyone has a right to free speech, I've been really put off by this years awards season. It was like politics completely took over all of the awards. Every joke, ever speech, every moment it felt like it was getting shoved down my throat. I don't know about all of you but I turn on things like movie awards to escape the real world. To have them to turn it into CNN made me fast forward a lot and in some cases turn it off completely. The Oscars are special though and I always love seeing them so of course I had to tune in! I watched a lot of the red carpet coverage because I wasn't for sure how much I would watch of the awards if they started to get too political for me.

There were too many great looks to name them all but here is some of my picks for best dressed....

Jessica Biel
I absolutely loved this gold look. I love everything about it!

Chrissy Teigan
I thought this looked really classy for her. I also loved the white and jewels.

Emma Stone
She looked classic Hollywood. You can tell she dressed as a nominee and thinking about her look.

Halle Berry
First of all... the hair was great. I just loved it! Then this gown was fabulous. I love the details, the beading and the bottom fringe. It was just perfect.

While I loved several others and thought others were really bad decisions, I decided not to do my worst looks. I'm sure they feel bad enough once they saw the reviews. What did all of you think about the dresses?

4 Shows You Need to Catch Up On

Bosch

Available via Amazon Prime
We just finished watching season one and I loved it! I had no idea it was based on a book series until I was already finished with season one. Bosch is about Harry Bosch an L.A. homicide detective who's on the hunt for a serial killer. In season one we see him trying to reconnect with his daughter, working his cases and trying to get out of a legal mess from a previous case that ended bad. He's everything you think a real L.A. detective would be!
Season two just became available and I have a feeling we will be watching this over the weekend. I think I might even get the first book in the series and see if it's as good as the show. As far as I'm concerned the books are usually far better!

House of Cards

Available via Netflix
We binged watched Season 4 in three days and now we have to wait an entire year for season 5 to hit Netflix. It was just so good we couldn't stop watching. Season three was a little slow so I was worried that season four wouldn't be any good. Well we were pleasantly surprised because season four picked up the pace and didn't disappoint. Frank Underwood is back to his old tricks of lying, manipulation and deceit to hold on to everything he wants and needs. Set in Washington D.C. it follows Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) and his wife Claire (Robin Wright) who are a powerful political duo. They will stop at nothing to climb the latter of power in Washington and when things couldn't get any further out there they take it a step further. They have people helping them of course... Watch it from Season one because this show isn't one to be missed.

Girls
Available on dvd & Amazon Prime
Ok. I've talked about Girls before. I watched season one and didn't really know what to think. I wasn't for sure if I really liked the show or not. It was confusing to me. I couldn't understand why the characters behaved that way and got themselves into the situations they did even thought they didn't want to be in them. I pressed forward and watched season two. I laughed more and I actually started to understand them. I think during season one I was expecting this to be exactly like Sex and the City because the comparisons are there but these girls are younger, poorer and thoroughly confused. I'll be watching season three next.

Major Crimes
Available via TNT network
I have only watched the last two seasons of Major Crimes but it's entertaining and the characters are likeable. The show follows the homicide detective unit inside of the Los Angeles Police Department. By doing so we get to see the relationship that each character has with each other and how they intertwine. Each episode brings a new murder for them to solve. In this last season they spent have the season looking for a killer who had murdered several victims. If you haven't watched this show before tune in! I'm going to go back and watch the first few seasons that I missed!

The 88th Academy Awards

On Sunday in Hollywood, California the 88th Academy Awards were held! Oscar night! Leo finally won his elusive Oscar and Kate Winslet was there to witness it. Chris Rock bombed at points in the show and Girl Scout cookies were freely ate during the show. Best performance of the night went to Lady Gaga singing her nominated song. The fashion did not disappoint! Actors and actresses wowed the red carpet with color and style. Let's take a look at a few of my picks...

The Best Dressed

Charlize Theron

Brie Larson

Priyanka Chopra

The Worst Dressed

Heidi Klum
This is not a Disney princess impersonation night...

Naomi Watts
This isn't 80's prom or a mermaid show...

Amy Poehler
This print did Amy no favors. It also didn't seem glamorous enough for the Oscars.

Kate Winslet
I love Kate but I didn't love this dress. She is usually so glamorous and stylish on the red carpet. This dress though... at one point I thought it was made out of plastic. I think her hair and make up looked great!

Who did you love at this year's Oscars?

22nd Screen Actors Guild Awards

The SAG Award show is always my favorite to watch leading up to the Oscars. The actors seem more relaxed, down to earth and fun. The women take more risks on the red carpet at this award show and really show off their style personality. This year patterns and designs were trending. I love it! I thought it gave a vintage 1970's vibe and I am a huge fan of that era.

These are my picks for the Best and Worst Dressed at the SAG Awards!

Best Dressed
Anna Faris
Red is a tricky color on the red carpet but I love that she showed off her legs. I also love that the top is totally different from the bottom.

Alicia Vikander
This was my favorite look of the night. I love that it's patterned. I love that it's sequins. I love that it gives that major 70's vibe. Seriously. If I could wear this dress tomorrow, I would.

Rachel McAdams
Love the pattern. Love the colors. It wasn't just another black dress.

Saoirse Ronan
On screen you could see this dress was more of a blush tone. It also had a great pattern in the fabric. I love the long sleeves. She looked fabulous!

Kate Winslet
Kate can never do wrong. She knows what she looks good in. She knows her colors and she killed it. She looks fabulous and her shape is perfect.

Worst Dressed

January Jones
I know what happened here. She forgot that the SAGs were this weekend and didn't have a dress. She did what she had to do and tore her guest bedroom sheets off the bed and wrapped herself up and got in the limo. Your make up looks good though! you know what they say about big hair... it holds secrets!

Nicole Kidman
I'm sorry? Did you think you were going to the Circus? Or maybe a lavish little girls birthday party? Nicole, next time pick just one of these colors not all three.

Brie Larson
Congrats on the win. But you lost in the fashion department. The entire time she was giving her acceptance speech my husband kept asking about the awards butt that she had twisted to the camera. Anyways... The top is hideous to me. It looks like someone slashed it. Did someone attack her on the way to the awards and make that cut? We won't even talk about the weird ties on the side. And the prom shoes...

Christina Hendricks
I love Christian Siriano the designer but this dress did Christina no favors. She has a great shape and this dress made her lose it. It also washed her out. It made her look old and frumpy in my opinion.

It's one of my favorite colors to wear and can be downplayed or made to stand out. It's a bold color and a statement! Here are some of my favorite items out in shades of blue.
