Weekend Review

My weekend started Wednesday night when Beezy and I headed to watch the Sacramento Kings take on the New York Knicks.
The Kings weren't successful in their attempt to win but I always enjoy watching the Kings Dancer and guessing which outfit and routine they'll be performing in. Plus they have these inflatable guys who come out and they are seriously cute. Anyways.. moving on.

I have a confession to make. I use to hate on Chipotle all the time without ever having tried it. Well folks, I tried it and it's pretty darn good. I've been there twice in like a week. I might even go back today. Their chicken and rice?!? Um good! Heck yes.
It's like Heaven in your mouth.

I completed another DIY wreath. This one was for someone and Easter themed. I even had to break out the hot glue gun. (I also remembered why I hate the glue gun when hot glue got on my skin).
That bunny in the carrot car... too cute!

And then to end my weekend... I got flowers just because.

Five on Friday

1.

This will be the one and only time I ever talk about a Kardashian on here. Ever. I completely think and believe that Kim got the cover of Vogue because of Kayne West. Sure sure, Anna Wintour said that it was Vogue's idea but here's my thoughts. Kayne and Anna have built up a rapport over the last few years. He has his fashion and his sneaker line and Anna Wintour is usually about what sells and fashion. When they had their baby I'm sure Kim desperately wanted to on the cover. She wanted her own cover on there and to have that kid wrapped in Vogue airbrushing, vogue clothing etc. She wants the world to love her. So when she didn't get it I'm sure she amped up her campaign to Kayne about how she'd love to be on there. Well I'm sure I'd cave after months and months of a "friend" talking to me about his fiancĂ©. So I'm sure it was allllll Anna's idea. Uh huh.

2.

I finished the entire series of Game of Thrones just in time for the next season to begin. I have to tell you without spoiling anything that I'm completely shocked and grossed out by usually half the things that go on in each episode but it's pretty entertaining! Season 4 here we come!

3. Last weekend Northern California was having 80 degree weather. It was sunny, warm and so nice out. This weekend it's raining, cloudy... twisters are being spotted and it was 63 degrees. Um not good Mr. Weather man. Not good. I need the summer to be here now. I'd rather be sweating and pitting through my shirts than freezing cold.

4. I still can't decide what I want to do for my 30th Birthday this summer. My mom will be coming out here so I'm sure we'll do something fun. I've got Hawaii coming up in July and Vegas in September. I've also got some new business things going on so maybe I won't spend the money and do anything too crazy. I don't know... it's my 30th so I'd like to do something memorable. I guess I'll have to keep thinking. Right now I'm thinking Eagle Lake in CA, San Luis Obispo for the Madonna Inn and maybe Lake Tahoe.

5. I'm old enough to know, it's good to find someone you can do this with...

Happy Weekend!

A Puerto Rico Adventure

This is my last post on Puerto Rico. If you missed any of the others you can view them here:

I posted about the food. I posted about the historical sites in Old San Juan and fabulous beaches. I talked about the great rum tours. You know how sometimes when you go on a vacation there's always a few things that fall through the cracks? Well here's some great things that I loved about San Juan but didn't post about...
The hammock our condo had. It was so great that one of the people in our group slept in it. Right outside on the balcony.

 Salsa dancing!

 Colorful Old San Juan

 Lizards just hanging out.
 And that sums it up!

Weekend Review

This past weekend I headed to the theater to see Divergent.
I've read the entire series. First let me tell you that I loved the first two books. I hated the third. I mean I really hated it. I hated how the book read. I hated how the characters were written and I hated the ending. To me personally it felt like Veronica Roth (the author) wrote the book based on the opinions of others and didn't feel like she wrote the book who the first two were wrote. With that said, I still wanted to see the movie. I had really enjoyed the first book and fell in love with some of the characters. I also loved the second book so I wanted to see it opening weekend.

Well... I thought it was just ok. I think they left out a lot of important things that the audience would need to know to really understand the story. The movie also had certain parts completely unlike the book. It was as if they were like, "Oh I don't like that! Let's just change it to what we like." Um... no. That's not how it should go. So I thought the movie in general was just OK. I probably won't buy it on dvd and that says a lot for me.

In addition to going to the movies, I did the always dreaded yard work. Since spring is here in northern California the grass is going crazy, the plants and flowers are sprouting and the weeds are in full force. It's basically the pits. My yard is huge. Thankfully, Beezy has been helping me this year to work on the yard.

I also went to a Kings game this week. I hadn't been to one since January! Crazy! We use to go all the time but since they keep losing...
 Kings
The three day weekend went by far too quickly.

History in Puerto Rico

San Juan is home to two historical landmarks. The first one that we saw was Castillo de San Cristobal.
 entering

Castillo de San Cristobal is a Spanish fort that was created by Spain to protect San Juan from attacks. They finished building it in 1783 and was the largest fortification built by the Spanish in the New World.
 view of the sea
Another view of the sea and another section of the fort

 walls of the fort
Cannon balls which I'm sure I wasn't suppose to touch.

The second and larger we visited was Castillo San Felipe del Morro. It is located on the other end of Old San Juan.

This guy was just chilling. The people didn't freak him out at all.
looking for the imp from Game of Thrones
pardon my face. I was very burned there.

The Fort was very nice and I liked it the most out of the two that we visited. It was very rich with history and I can't imagine what it was like hundreds of years ago. I also can't imagine what it was like to stand there in armor and look at the sea for hours in the humidity and heat of San Juan. Now I understand why they had been captured so many times. Those poor guys probably couldn't keep the sweat out of their eyes.

If you're in San Juan make sure to take the trek to both of these forts!

Theater Thursday

It's Thursday and that can only mean one thing... it's Theater Thursday! This week's featured movie is, American Dreamer.
American Dreamer stars JoBeth Williams as Kathy a Midwestern housewife with two small children. She dreams of going to Paris with her husband who's an accountant. She spends her days working on a short story for a contest to win an all expense paid trip to Paris for two. The story is about Rebecca Ryan a female detective who lives in France and always gets her man. Much to her husbands surprise she wins the contest and wants to take her trip to Paris. However, he can't go because of work and a project.

Kathy decides that she's going to go to France without and enjoy the success of winning the contest. When she gets there she finds herself in a accident where she's confusing her life with the character of Rebecca Ryan. When she starts to enlist the help of people in Rebecca's life and not her own to help her she finds herself in the middle of a detective's life.

When Rebecca/Kathy stumbles upon something in France she shouldn't she finds herself in her own real life danger. While her husband and children are on the other side of the world she'll have to figure this one out herself and with the help of her new friends. Will she make it out of her own mystery? Watch and see!

Beaches in Puerto Rico

While I was in Puerto Rico, I visited two beaches: Condado and Isla Verda. Both beaches are easily accessible from Old San Juan and offer great amenities around them. The first of the two that I visited was Isla Verda.
It was by far my favorite beach of the two. The waves were just right. The sand was silky and smooth and the water was that perfect blue/green that you could see thru. It's close to restaurants, hotels, bathrooms! They also had a guy on the beach who was taking coconuts and cutting them open right there for coconut water.
I sported my vintage bathing suit.... pardon the fattiness.

The second beach that we visited was Condado. This beach was closer to Old San Juan and a little more crowded.

I am a self proclaimed beach lover but out of the two I have to say that I liked Isla Verda more than Condado. I will say that Condado had a great beach bar/restaurant right on the sand that we loved. They had great food and the hotel seemed nice from what we saw. It was the Atlantic Beach Resort at Condado.
