Live PD

You guys... I’m obsessed with this show.

Currently in it’s third season (I’ve been watching since the first season) and airing 2-3 times a week but always on Friday and Saturdays, this show brings a real faces to the police officers working around the country night after night. It also brings a face to the real problems that American cities are facing.

Moderated by Dan Abrams in his lovable sweaters and corny jokes, he’s joined by veteran police officer Sean “Sticks” Larkin from Tulsa, Oklahoma and DC crime specialist Tom Morris Jr (who’s seriously passionate about his missing segments) each week. These three men discuss and comment on what we see go down on Live PD. Let’s get into what the show is all about Incase you’ve never seen an episode.

Camera crews follow around several police departments around the country all at the same time and live. When I say live, I’ve heard there is a 5-15 minute delay in the footage due to bleeping out people’s last names and socials as they give them to officers. I believe the delay is also Incase of a serious crime occurring (however we have seen people stabbed, shot and tased on the show). Some of the police departments that are currently featured weekly include-
Richland, South Carolina
El Paso, Texas
Warwick, Rhode Island
Green County, Missouri
Salinas, California
Franklin County, Ohio
Pasco County, Florida

Many departments participate in the show and up to 16 departments can be featured. The show goes to which ever department is having the most interesting crime or incident occurring. Dan, Tom and Sean are often seen catching us up on what’s occurred while they go to break or in between finding out what is going on with another department. As the show happens live, people are released from traffic stops, drugs are found on commercial break etc and they let us know after by giving the updates.

While the show might seem very much like COPS. It is indeed not and it’s very much it’s own show. Departments are often shown in the good and the bad situations. We see real towns, with real people and real problems. We see the serious drug epidemic that is sweeping the nation. We see gangs, we see people nightly with suspended licenses, drunk drivers etc. However, we also see the good. We see people trying to help one another. We see people taking an active part in their community to rid it of the bad apples. We see Officers trying to explain the law to citizens. We see Officers trying to bridge that gap in areas where the police may not be that trusted. We see Officers showing kindness to others, giving respect and just asking for it back in return.

This isn’t a show that just shows cities and towns at it’s worst. It’s a show that’s trying to bridge a divide that’s been deep and forefront recently in the news. These cities are trying to clean up their towns, get people help and trying to educate the public that we are all working together to keep people safe and that everyone needs to take part in it.

Did I mention there’s dogs? That’s just an added bonus to the show. K-9 units are featured in several departments and these dogs work just as hard as their handlers when it comes to sniffing out crime. UIKEYINPUTUPARROW

Weekend Update!

My weekend was great! I got to relax and have a little fun! My previous weekend was packed so it was nice to get to kick back and not have a lot of commitments. I started my weekend off by arriving home to fresh flowers courtesy of Beezy.

Who doesn't love a nice bouquet of flowers?! They smell great which is always the best part. We spent Friday night relaxing and watching a movie. We also caught up on my favorite reality show...
I know some people either really love or hate her and I love her! I think she's brutally honest and doesn't care what others think. She's got an NFL husband, a brand new multimillion dollar house and brand new twin babies. That's 6 kids in total so her world is crazy! I've even got Beezy into watching the show. I think the fact that Kroy is an NFL player helps because he loves football and this year's season of Hard Knocks focused on the Atlanta Falcons which is Kroy's team.

On Saturday, I went outside and spent some time in the backyard reliving my glory days. My mom recently sent me my case of twirling gear so everything from college was in there. I had my batons, ribbons, flags and knives. So I spent about a half hour twirling these bad boys...
What did I learn? My arms are completely out of shape. I have no flexibility anymore and I'll need to keep practicing again if I want to ever be decent again. I have plans of doing a little exhibition show HAHA.

After my twirling escapade we went to a dinner downtown being hosted by one of Beezy's cousins. It was for adults only in their family and it was nice. We all sat around and had a good dinner. It was also a moment to spend together since his family got some really upsetting news last week about a family member. I forgot my camera or there would be photo evidence of the great food and company.

Sunday I sat around all day and caught up on more tv shows I'd been missing and of course watching my favorite movie...

Romancing the Stone! Hope you all have a great Monday!

Buck Wild!

This weekend I finally had the opportunity to watch the new MTV reality show called BuckWild.

Before I share my thoughts on it, let me just say that I was born and raised in Huntington, West Virginia. I was and am a "city" kid. I didn't grow up on a farm or out in the sticks. I grew up on 30th street in the middle of Huntington. I have always had running water, electricity and worn shoes. I've been to smaller towns in West Virginia and I've even been to Sissonville where BuckWild is filmed. When I was in college, I even performed an exhibition show there once as majorette for Marshall so it's not like I've just driven through. I am a West Virginian. I may not live in Huntington anymore but I spent 27 years there, it will always be a part of me.

When I first heard about the show, it was because the Governor of West Virginia was asking MTV to not to air it. Well..... that obviously meant it wasn't going to be pretty. A few days later people at work started to ask me about it. Everyone here knows I'm from West Virginia. In fact I'm pretty for sure I'm the only person from West Virginia any of these people have ever met.

I hadn't seen the previews, I hadn't been following it on the news. So I said, well I'm sure they'll just exploit the fact that they are country. Exploit might even not be the right term. I mean is there really anything wrong with people want to ride four wheelers, drive big trucks and set bonfires in their front yard? No not really. Then I finally watched the first two episodes of the show.

These are kids who just graduated high school, who are out in the real world and don't have a clue what the heck is going on. They don't know what consequences are and they don't have any clue or maybe care how they are portraying themselves to the world. They are also not what MTV would have you believe they are.... some of them are actually very wealthy or I should say their parents are wealthy. They have had good schooling and college educations. ACTING may be involved.

They have parents that are doctors and obviously they were smart enough to figure out how to get on a television show and not only that but be features on the show. They have cameras following them around, of course they are going to do dumb things. They want ratings. They want people to talk about them. They want to get paid! So the next time you tune into the show please remember that not everyone from WV is like the people you are seeing. I beg you.... please. BECAUSE I have spent a lifetime trying to prove to everyone that I meet outside of WV that not every is like these stereotypes.

Kicking the Habit

I have to admit it. I use to love reality television. You name it, I watched it. Then one day I had an epiphany. I realized that by me watching this reality shows for entertainment was putting cash into their pockets. People who didn't go to acting school. People who have no real acting skills. People who let's face it are along the trashy side. People who do not deserve to be famous. People who do not deserve the hundreds/thousands of dollars their making for being on such shows.

So I stopped watching. Cold turkey

It wasn't hard. Anytime I saw that the shows were on that I use to watch, I would think for a second about flipping to it and then I would think of "The Situation" from Jersey Shore. Well that instantly made me remember NOT to tune into any of it.
I'm trying to only support real actors who are on scripted television. I was doing good too!
Then the Bachelor came back on. Uh oh! I gave in and watched it. So even though I'm sticking to my no reality tv watching. I've given myself a 3 show pass.
-The Bachelor
-The Real Housewives of Atlanta
-Bethenny Getting Married/Ever After

I know that 3 shows sound like a lot still but trust me, compared to how many are on... it's not. So, what about you? Are you watching reality tv? Do you think you're watching too much?

A Bit Too Much?

It's no secret, I am a huge fan of reality television and especially the Real Housewives franchise.
But... is it becoming too much? It all started so simple with The Real Housewives of Orange County. (Ironically there's only one of them left from season 1)
Then came along The Real Housewives of New York. Then Atlanta and New Jersey followed. Now there's even the District of Columbia (DC).
Apparently that's not enough because the rumor has it that Bravo is currently filming the real housewives of Beverly Hills. One of the housewives is rumored to be Kelsey Grammer's wife. Another is Paris Hilton's aunt. So my question is, where will it end? There's housewives everywhere and more out there that are real.

Don't get me wrong, I'm as guilty as anyone else who's watching. We feed into the show's success by tuning in each week. I've been sucked into their arguments, drama and cat fights. I even get excited wondering what will happen next. However, D.C. stopped me in my tracks. I can honestly say that this is the bad lemon in the bunch. It's boring with a capital B O R I N G!

So as the show's continue and women come and go per season, I keep in mind that while I may not live their lavish lifestyles that I am in fact, healthy, cat fight free and happy.

Hello Hottie!

Sundays, Wednesdays and Thursdays have become my favorite days of the week since the start of.... Big Brother!

I can't help it! I love it. I watch it every summer and into the fall. This year my favorite is definitely the hunk, Lane.
I mean seriously people, he is a HOTTIE. He's hilarious too! You lucky ladies that live in the DFW area of Texas, count your lucky stars. Maybe I should move there? Where there's one hottie, there's always more.

From what I've seen, he's the man of my dreams. Cute, successful, down to earth and funny! Hey lane when you get out of the house, call me. Haha!

Have you been watching? Who do you want to win it? I think it's safe to say I'm rooting for Lane. If you've seen my tweets then you're already aware of my big brother obsession!

Top 2 Tuesday First!

This is the first time I've ever participated in the Top 2 Tuesday Posts! I loved the topic so I just couldn't help myself!
Top 2 Characters You Would Want to Play on a TV Show or Movie
1. Kathy Griffin, My Life on the D-List.
I know she can rub people the wrong way but I think she's hilarious! I love her show, I love her stand up and I love her mom Maggie. I love that she spares no mercy for anyone when it comes to her comedy show. If you interact with her, she's going to talk about it! I also love the fact that she's such a tight ass with her money and that she worships Suzanne Summers. Plus she'll do anything for a little publicity, including hanging out with my secret crush, Levi Johnson.

2. Pudge (Annabeth Gish) in the movie Shag.
Shag is one of my ALL time favorite movies and Pudge is by far my favorite character in the movie. Her real name in the movie is Caroline but everyone calls her Pudge because she's perceived as a little bigger than the other girls. She loves to shag dance and on the girls trip she meets Chip, a guy who wants a pen pal to have once he's away for navy training. I don't want to ruin the movie if you've never seen it, but I love it! I love the ending and I love seeing Pudge become her own woman!

Four Hours of Reality TV

How did I spend my evening last night? Oh, I watched 4 hours of television. Nope, not kidding! Um... who watched the Bachelorette last night? If you haven't watched last night's finale and don't want to have it ruined then stop reading now.
My heart hurt for Chris. Wait... let me back up and start at the beginning. From the moment this season started I was team Roberto all the way. Let's face it, the guy is smart, funny and gorgeous. Hello! Who wouldn't want to be with him?!? As the season went on and Chris became a front runner, I started to like the guy. Then his back story came out and the home town date happened. That's when I got really torn. I no longer knew who to root for and cheer on. So as the entire finale was playing out last night I still couldn't decide who I wanted to see get the final rose. And then it happened...

You know exactly what I'm talking about. The moment Ali started telling Chris how great he was. I've been dumped before so I could tell the, "It's not you, it's me" speech coming the moment she told him, "let's sit". I felt so bad for him and my heart hurt for him. He had literally just finished inhaling from his last deep breath of, "I love Ali and want to marry her and be with her in life forever" statement.

Then the rainbow happened and made it a little better. I did love the fact that he wasted no time on getting out of there. He packed his bags, got on a boat and got the hell out the same day and even before nightfall. Did you see him on the After the Final Rose Ceremony? He looked good! I don't know what he's been doing but he looked hot. I vote that he'll be the next bachelor but since they haven't announced it... I don't know.
What did you think of the episode? Who do you think the next Bachelor will be?
Then the Real Housewives of New Jersey was on. Hello! That's a hot mess right there, so of course I'm going to watch. Dirty D (as jacqueline calls her on twitter, yes I follow her on twitter) was up to her crazy antics as always. What made this episode even better was the fact that her and Kim G (who's desperate for fame in my opinion) got into a huge blow up resulting in her screaming after D telling her that she had square boobs. People, I'm telling you... this is priceless tv.

I would have rather paid the 17 bucks we paid for Dinner with Schmucks on Friday, for some popcorn and candy to eat while watching these shows!

5 Things Going on Right Now

First of all, who is watching this show?
I caught the recap of season 1 right as it was finishing last season and now that season 2 has started I'm glued to the television. Is it just me or has the episodes so far been super sad?!?
Second: On Monday the boy and I went and saw Salt.
Well let me save you an hour and a half and 8 dollars...pass on the Salt (pun intended). It was not good. Maybe it's because I think Angelina Jolie is a home wrecker and can't get past that or maybe it's the fact that her lips are abnormally huge and I just stare at them but I didn't think the movie was good. At all
Third: Apparently I do have a green thumb! When the garden got planted a few months ago, I didn't know if it would actually do anything and now there's peppers and the beginnings of tomatoes. Exciting times!
Fourth: I placed an order with Laughing out Loud Designs, ran by Jen over at WestSacHoney for some headbands and they arrived yesterday in the mail! They're great and I can't wait to wear them! I tried them all on and they are so comfortable! And the best part... they're reversible!
the flip side of them

Fifth: My Christmas in July Giveaway! It's still going on, if you haven't entered yet go here to do so! Trust me, you really want to win the awesome surprise!
So there you have it! That's what's been going on in my life.

Dear So & So: The Entertainment Edition

Dear Eclipse,
You rocked! You were by far the best movie is the series so far! Loved it! I've already seen you twice and I'm ready to see you again! The tent scene and the proposal were everything I hoped they would be. Thank you! Sincerely twihard.
Dear Team Jacob,
I have to give you guys props. Even though you know he doesn't get the girl you still cheer for him. He did have some good one liners in the movie, plus I've got to hand it to you... he is pretty hot. Now that he's legal I feel I can say that. Sincerely, 18 never looked so good.
Dear Team Edward,
You're still as beautiful as I remembered you. I can't wait to see the things you do in the next film. Sincerely, hurry up November.
Dear Vienna (Sausage) and Jake,
I can't wait to see you guys Monday night on your special after the Bachelorette. I really hope they play On the Wings of Love just to spite your failed relationship. Sincerely, I might laugh is tears are shed.
Dear Levi Johnston,
I'm not gonna lie, I use to think you were a complete douche tool. However, after seeing you on Kathy Griffin's show this week, I just think your ignorant. Strangely, I did find you very attractive... well until they showed you dipping. Yuck. Sincerely, lose the dip and get a job.
