October Ipsy

The October Ipsy bag has finally arrived.
My October Ipsy finally made it's way to my door earlier this week. What's ipsy you might be asking? Ipsy is a monthly subscription that for the low price of $10.00 including shipping you can receive 5-6 beauty products. They send everything from hair care products to foot lotions. It's a great way to try out new things without paying the price of a full size product. Plus if you love getting real mail it's a nice little treat in the mailbox each month. Here's what I got this month...

1. ECRU New York: Acacia Protein BB Cream for Hair.
Lately Ipsy has been sending me one hair care item in each bag. While this product might be nice, I've got a few others to try first. I've been using the full size item they sent me a few months ago and I'm sticking with it. This does have a great smell to it.

2. Indie Lee Brightening Cleanser.
I had never heard of this brand but I'm excited to try it! The smell is amazing. It smells like fresh strawberries and seems to have good texture. I've read some reviews and everyone says it's great. Since my skin is really sensitive I get nervous about facial items but this one sounds like it could be a winner.

3. Noyah Lipstick: Deeply in Mauve shade.

There is absolutely nothing positive I could say about this lipstick. The packaging for the sample was cheap. The color was way to dark for my skin tone AND the fact that I do not wear lipstick and that I've told IPSY this every month they have sent me a lip product. When I see the lip products I get sad. It's a waste!

4. Figs & Rouge Hand Cream in Mango Mandarin.
This was one of two full size products that came in my bag. It's amazing. The smell is not too strong which I like and it feels like you are rubbing butter onto your hands. It makes them feel so soft! I'm going to have to get my mom some of this!

5. Jesse's Girl Eye Shadow in Graphite Frost.
This was the second full size product in my bag. I love eye shadows. I mean really. I have a small addiction to eye shadow. I had honestly never heard of the brand but it's nice. The packaging was appealing and it felt expensive. I wasn't sold on the color that I got but it's nice. I'm going to check them out and look for other colors.

Overall, I really liked this months bag!

If you want to try Ipsy use this link! You'll get a little gift and I will too!

Theater Thursday

It's Thursday and that can only mean one thing... it's Theater Thursday! This week's featured movie brings an end to our Halloween themed month so of course it has to be... The Lost Boys.
Michael (Jason Patric) and his younger brother Sam move from Arizona to Santa Clara, California with their recently divorced mother and they have no idea what their in store for. When the boys get bored and start looking around town for entertainment they land at the Boardwalk. They start meeting kids their own age and start getting to know people. When the boys start to notice flyers for missing teens they begin to wonder what's making them go missing. They befriend two local teens that inform them that the town is full of vampires.

Michael and Sam don't believe them but they find the amount of missing teens odd. Michael sees a girl named Star, at the boardwalk that he finds beautiful but she appears to have a boyfriend who also happens to be the leader of the local gang (Keifer Southerland). When Michael tries to get close to her she warns him to stay away because of the gang. When Michael continues to hang around the gang they initiate him into the gang by drinking a bottle of wine. Or so he thinks it's wine...

Star warns him not to drink the bottle. The next day Michael wakes up and feels different. He doesn't know why the light is bothering him. He doesn't know why he doesn't feel like eating and he doesn't know why he wants to just sleep all day. When night falls he heads to the boardwalk and starts to get a better idea of what is going on....

Watch this classic movie! It's sure to scare you this Halloween!

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

The Good...
We are literally right around the corner from the holidays. This is by far the best time of the year. I love Thanksgiving and Christmas. I love decorating and baking and wrapping presents. Most of all I love getting to see my mom. I can't wait to see her and watch her open gifts from Santa.
Christmas 2013

Speaking of mom's Beezy's mom sold her house and she's camping out in our spare bedroom! We've got a permanent house guest.

The Bad...
Remember the fire that happened at my house last week?
Yes it was bad. There use to be a wooden privacy fence there.

Well SMUD had the nerve to tell me it was caused by a Mylar balloon getting caught in the line. Um... excuse you? The incident report that was prepared by the experts says you had an explosion at the poll that caused live wires to be on the ground. Liar liar... now your pants are on fire.

The Ugly...
The prices of flights! Have you booked a flight near the holidays lately? Well guess what, the airlines are just waiting to gouge you with the prices. Last year I went to West Virginia for Thanksgiving. We booked the ticket very last minute. When I say last minute I mean within 14 days of the holiday. It's still weeks away and the price right now is 400.00 more than what we paid last year 2 weeks before. It's INSANE! If I had the time, I would slow boat it or train ride it because seriously it's insane the prices they want to charge people to go see loved ones.

Beezy's Birthday Review

The first thing Beezy and I did was celebrate his birthday! Since his birthday fell in the middle of the week, we decided to go out to dinner. Beezy really wanted to go to a place downtown called Ten 22. Since his birthday actually falls on 10/22 it was cute.

It was Ten 22's 5th year anniversary so they were offering some great specials. Beezy picked out a calzone that was stuffed to the brim. When he ordered it, we had no idea what was inside. It was being sold as the mystery filled calzone. He's a braver man that me!

I went with a pork chop. It was on top of a jam and potatoes. I'm a lover of pork chops and it was really good. Too bad I had almost filled up on the pulled pork sliders we had as an appetizer.

At the end of the meal they brought out some chocolate cupcakes with a candle in them to celebrate his birthday.

When we got home we celebrated with Birthday cake (which I made).
I would share pictures of Beezy opening up his gifts but he did it the night before his actual birthday. He couldn't wait to get his hands on the presents and I'm glad to report he enjoyed them all. He got a training mask for running, a subscription to loot crate (a monthly subscription box for guys), a Raiders Christmas sweater and some other fun stuff! This year was a success. Now I've got to start planning next years.

Theater Thursday

It's Thursday and that can only mean one thing... it's Theater Thursday! It's October and that means it's all Halloween movies this month. This week's featured movie is, Halloween!

This 1978 classic movie still frightens people to this day. The star was an unknown girl, Jamie Lee Curtis. While she had a famous mother and father she was still an unknown actress who was getting her first big break. From the moment the piano music starts you are thrilled and scared to the wits. Now what's the movie actually about?

Jamie Lee Curtis stars as Laurie, a young high school girl living in Haddonfield, Illinois. It's Halloween and she's stuck babysitting for the night. Her best friend who lives across the street is doing the same thing. What makes Laurie feel scared is the fact that they live in the town of where the Michael Myers tragedy occurred years before. A small boy named Michael, stabbed to death his sister and boyfriend. He was then taken to a mental institution where he was to stay for the rest of his life. Unfortunately, for Laurie and the town he has escaped and in his terrorizing mind he only has one goal.... getting back to Haddonfield.

The evening stars out like any other Halloween evening, high school teenagers trying to scare each other. Laurie frightens faster than most and doesn't want to play along. When she thinks her friends are starting to play jokes with her she isn't happy. The town however, starts to realize it's not just teenagers causing the problems. Will Laurie live through this night of Halloween? Watch the classic and find out!

Happy Birthday Beezy!

Today is a very special day. Today is Beezy's Birthday!

I don't think there's any way I could correctly describe in words how much he means to me. How much he's made me happy and how much fun we've had together. I only hope that I've given him as much support, happiness and love as he's given me. So today on this very special day, I am wishing him a very Happy Birthday filled with love. Here's to many more years of Happy Birthdays.

These are just the highlights of how we started our life together...

Happy Birthday!
I love you!

12 More Inches

On Friday, I thought my weekend was going to be like any other weekend. I'd relax, run errands, get some stuff done around the house etc. Well that idea went to hell in a hand basket real quick. Now before I jump right in and let you know the crazy, catastrophic events that occurred. I want you all to know that I'm fine. Beezy is fine and Tesco is still begging for treats. Friday night started out completely normal. I came home from work and Beezy and I decided to run a few errands. We desperately needed printer ink because we were completely out and needed to print something for his work that was due the next morning. We left the house and hit up Target and grabbed some Chipotle for dinner.

Saturday is when it went crazy.

Saturday, I sat around in my pajamas for hours catching up on Watch What Happens Live and all my other Bravo guilty pleasure shows. I played with Tesco and read these beauties...
It immediately sparked a frenzy. To answer the question. No I am not engaged. I love wedding and bridal magazines. Yes, we have been talking about it.

Later in the day, Beezy's mom stopped by. She's in the process of selling her house and she's going to become our newest roommate for awhile. She came over and dropped off a lot of her plants. When Beezy got home we left for a little while to run an errand. When we came home that's when it all went into the hand basket. We get out of the car and my neighbor who has never spoken to me in the two years I've lived here starts running across the road, barefoot screaming that my house was on fire.

WHAT?

She then tells me that there was an explosion and the fire department banged on the door and no one was there to answer. At that point I felt like I was in one of those moments caught on candid camera. We had ordered a pizza in the car ride home so we've got the pizza kid at our door step now, the neighbor yelling there was an explosion at my house while standing in the middle of the road barefoot and Beezy in the house seeing what the heck she's talking about. I didn't know what to do. I told her thank you and started making my way to the house. I told the pizza kid to hold on and as I walk through the door, I've got Beezy telling me not to look in the backyard.

What do I do? Immediately walk to the backyard. Tesco in the meantime was meowing his little head off because as much he doesn't want you to know it... he's a scaredy cat. And Oh...my...God.
This photo was actually taken the next morning and the night cool air helped dissipate the black ground. Here's is some photos that were actually taken right when we saw it...
Literally 12 inches from the house!

The fire came so close to the house. I mean literally it was 12 inches from catching the house on fire. All I can say is, Thank God the house didn't catch on fire. It would have only taken another 12 inches for it to have set it ablaze. I definitely think my grandpa was watching out for me. When I bought this house two years ago, there was hummingbirds everywhere. We see them frequently around the house and Beezy saw one the other day. We always said with my grandpa anytime we see one it's him watching out for us. Well he definitely was on Saturday.

Here's the best part. The fire department and SMUD didn't even have the courtesy to leave us a note on the door. We had to make about 15 calls before finally being able to find out what caused it. The non emergency line told us that an explosion happened at the electric pole and caused a down live wire. The down wire then caused the ground fire. Called SMUD and haven't heard a thing yet. Their next call will be from my insurance. So far their customer service at SMUD is a negative two right now. Since their wire could have burned my house down, I feel like they better get on it. Thank goodness the house is ok and we are ok.

We spent Sunday resting from the stress. Beezy even sold his Raiders tickets. Let's hope we don't repeat this weekend ever again.

Theater Thursday

It's Thursday and that can only mean one thing... it's Theater Thursday! Since we're in October it's a Halloween themed month of movies! This week's featured movie is, Scream.

In 1996, Scream hit the big screen. Scream came to the box office when horror films had died down. There hadn't been a movie that really scared the teen generation of the time. That all changed as soon as Drew Barrymore hit the screen. Wes Craven brought a new story to the screen that related to teenagers.

High school student Sydney Prescott (Neve Campbell) was going through a hard time. It was the year anniversary of her mother's brutal murder. Her dad was going out of town and her relationship with her boyfriend was rocky. In her sleepy, little town of Woodsboro everyone knew who she was because of her mother's death and the scandal that went along with it. When the town is shocked once again with the surprise double murder of two teenagers Sydney and the rest of the town are put on edge. Since her dad is away she's entrusted with her best friend and their family who includes a man in law enforcement.
What Sydney learns very quickly is that these two teens murders have far more in common with her than she ever imagined. Now the killer has his eyes set on her and anyone else that comes along in his path. The town goes on lockdown, setting a curfew for all of it's residents. This is meant to protect them but will it? Who is murdering these teens and why? Who will make it through the weekend of this nightmare anniversary?

Watch this classic horror film and find out who dies and survives.

This movie launched all of the horror films that followed. There has even been 4 Scream movies made to date.

Weekend Review

Seriously, where do the weekends go? It's like you wait all week long for Friday and before you know it, it's Monday!

Before the weekend actually began we hit up the first Sacramento Kings Pre-Season Game.
The Kings played the Toronto Raptors and the Kings came out victorious! I've already talked about the Kings having a special place in my heart so it was nice to see them get a win. We also started back up our series of #jenandangel at the Kings games. I'm sure I'll subject you guys to many more Kings games' photos over the season.

On Friday, after escaping work Beezy and I headed out for Date Night. This week we hit up the Cheesecake Factory where I engorged myself with their Macaroni and Cheese Hamburger. It's literally a hamburger with a deep fried macaroni and cheese on top of it. It's amazing and I suggest you get in the car and go there now to have one. Eat it all. Every bite!

On Saturday, I got a much needed hair cut and highlight at the fabulous Amithyst Boutique Salon...

On Sunday, we hit up the Raiders Game in Oakland.

It was so hot that day! Oakland is never hot like this and of course it was in the high 80's. The entire game we were sweating to death. Plus the Raiders lost. BOO! This was also the first time I've ever rode the Sacramento Raider Rooter bus. That was an experience.

Hope your weekends went great!
