Summer Shows Worthy of Watching

Summer television can mean non stop repeats and the return of outplayed reality TV game shows. Thankfully this summer we've found a few shows that have kept us highly entertained. While I'm still bitter about my shows that have been cancelled, I'm taking a gamble and watching these shows. Now I'm hoping they don't get cancelled.

Billions

This is a Showtime show and it's really interesting and entertaining. The show focuses on Axle who owns a stock exchange. He was the only surviving partner of a huge firm after 9/11 and he's making a huge fortune. We aren't talking millions we are talking Billions of dollars. When the U.S. Attorney gets wind that he might be making some of his money illegal he begins to take an interest in Axle.

Even with my limited knowledge of the stock market, insider trading, the FCC etc, the show is really good. I've watched the first episode so far and I really like it. The cast is full with veteran actors that add to the show.

Animal Kingdom

Animal Kingdom is the new show on TNT. It follows this California family who's lead by their mother, Smurf. When Jay her grandson comes to live with them after his mother (Smurf's daughter) dies of an overdose the house goes a little crazy. The boys in the family are not excited to have someone new in their household and rightfully so. This isn't your ordinary family. They live a life of crime and keep it all in the family. Smurf is all about family and she wants to include young Jay in their dealings. The other sons don't know if they can trust him so everyone is looking over their shoulder.

I personally think this show is very good. I love Ellen Barkin who plays Smurf and she plays the role perfectly. The family dynamic is entertaining and interesting. They are crazy! So you never really know what to expect from them.

O.J. Made In America

The bronco chase happened literally on my 10th Birthday. I can remember my grandma sitting in our living room in our pink chair watching the chase with my mom and I. I have always been fascinated with this case and the fact that he was found innocent. This documentary takes us from O.J.'s beginnings, through his first marriage, his marriage to Nicole, the trial and the years after. It ends focusing on the reason why he's behind bars today. The documentary is broken into 5 parts and lasts 10 hours total.

I thought it was done extremely well and doesn't let the fact that two people lost their lives get lost in the story.

What are you watching this summer?

June Goals

The summer is officially here! I miss the days of being on summer vacation. I find that my summer months are always busy and packed with things I need to do, places to go and things that I want to accomplish. This June begins the summer madness. I'm hoping my making a few goals for myself, I'll hold myself to completing them.

Goal 1- Order our wedding album! I have put this off and wrote it down on about 10 things I need to do list. Sitting down and going through 1200 photos and narrowing them down to 80 isn't an easy task.

Goal 2- Write chapters 17 and 18. I've been working on a book since January and really working on it. I've written 16 chapters and I'm currently on chapter 17. In January I was really hoping to have a complete rough draft of the entire book. Hey... life gets busy. I'm hoping to have it completed by August. Then I'll edit my rough draft and then start shopping it out to publishing houses or a literary agent.

Goal 3- Get a doormat. I know what your thinking. Buy a doormat? How hard of a goal is that? Well we've had this ugly brown doormat since we moved into our home. Every day when I get home and look at that thing I'm like ugh, I need to get a new door mat. I'm tired of seeing it and it's the little things in life. I want something nice and cheerful and something that speaks to my style. The hunt will commence.

Goal 4- Soak in vacation. I want to have an amazing summer vacation. I plan on trying to actually relax. I want to enjoy every minute of it and live in the moment. I don't want to worry about if I'm going to be sick. If I'm going to have anxiety. If I'll poop my pants on the drive because we can't find a bathroom (yes these are thoughts that I have). I want to just live.

Goal 5- I got a promotion at work and let me just tell you how excited I am. While I'm excited it comes with a lot more responsibility. So I'm hoping to get a work plan going and be really organized.

Goal 6- Get a pool. Last year with the move we didn't get in the pool at all. The year before that I had this awesome inflatable pool that I would literally inflate anytime I wanted to cool off. I put it up in the backyard and it was awesome. Well this year I want one again. I don't care if we have only dirt. I'll throw some old towels down and walk on them once I'm out. I want my 5.00 kiddy pool back and I don't care who knows it!

Memorial Day Weekend

Hey folks! Hope all of you had a fabulous Memorial Day Weekend. I spent mine enjoying some time off and getting my tan on. I don't know about your cities but in mine it was hot and when I say hot, I mean in the 90's and major humidity.
Thank goodness for a  huge pool. I was able to relax and cool off when the heat just became too much.

I also took advantage of the Memorial Day sale at one of my favorite online stores and got this little beauty...
It's from Le Mode and it's called the Egyptian Goddess Necklace. I can't wait to get it and wear it! I have two weddings coming up and bridal shower so I have plans for this beauty! When I was done shopping the sales online, I hung out with my favorite (only) guinea pig.. Frosty.  She says "Hello" to everyone out there in internet land.
I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend. I don't know about everyone else but the summer months are always the busiest for me.

A Little Housekeeping

Seriously, where has the summer gone? I can't believe we're already into July. The days are flying by and I just keep trying to play catch up. Summer months are so busy, packed with birthdays, vacations, preparing to move, hanging out with friends and going out on dates there's hardly any down time in between.

The laundry piles up, television shows go unwatched, cleaning falls to the wayside and answering e-mails becomes a chore. I've been trying to balance everything but sometimes things just fall through the cracks. So let's do a little housekeeping, shall we? We shall!

-Let's start with my move to California. Yes, I'm still moving. I can't give my exact move date on here yet but I box up stuff all the time and pray to the transfer Gods that it'll be very, very soon. Because I am more than ready to be on the west coast.

-Many of you have noticed via twitter and/or facebook that I've been hanging out with a nice guy but haven't blogged about it. Well you should take notice that I haven't posted a, What Not to Say/Do on a Date either. Hence, that means it's going well.

-I've been spending a lot of my spare time with one of my good friends who's in town for the summer. She's also my partner in crime when it comes to getting ice cream at Austin's the local ice cream joint.

-Remember me talking about the horrible dermatologist appointment I had in April? The one where I cried because the doctor was so mean. Well I did what any bitter girl would do and I took it to the internet. I found a natural, over the counter supplement to try. I'm entering my 3rd month of taking it and let me just say, it's been nothing but great. I've noticed my skin look so much better and so has others. Check it out, it's called Biodermazen.

It's about $30.00 a bottle but isn't it worth it to have clear skin? I sure think so! Thank goodness, I'm not allergic to any of the natural ingredients.

-Books. I set a goal this year of trying to read 50 books. Last year I read 45 and I thought it would just be fun to try to beat it with reading a total of 50. Um... right now I'm currently reading book number 24 and I'm wondering if I can still do it! Ekk! Wish me luck

-For one of my NYE resolutions, I set a savings goal for each month. So far, I've met the goal each month. I'm also seeing my debt come down and that means good things! Here I come, home loan!

So that's what is going on in my world. What about yours?

It's Getting Hot Out Here

First of all... big shout out to my good friend Cara.
We met in college and pledged the same sorority, in fact I was Cara's big sister. Sadly, when she graduated college it was time for her to head back to Texas and now I don't get much Cara time. Yesterday I got to talk to her and she mentioned she's been reading my blog. Well what do I do when I know my IRL (in real life) friends are reading? Give them a shout out!

Miss you Cara!!! I hope we get to see each other soon!

In other news, summer is here and I bought a pool.
(of course mine isn't this big nor did I build a deck)

Yep, you read that right. Even though I'm moving, I went ahead and bought a pool. I don't know where you live but it's hot here. Like real hot. Which I'm not complaining one bit about because it's way better than all that rain we dealt with non.stop.for.months. However, I want to cool down and get tan the natural way. So it's pool time.

Speaking of moving... I get the question about 30 times a day. When will I be moving? I will hopefully be moving at the end of August. That's all I can say right now but I promise to keep you all updated.

Now I have to go out and run errands early so I can get me a full day of fun in the sun!!! Have a wonderful weekend everyone. I've got tons of vacation plans to fill you all in on come Monday!

A Day at the Lake

Be on the lookout for a product review soon! The wonderful people over at CSN have graciously offered to send me a product of my choice to review. CSN has a variety of stores and offer everything from a bathroom sink to children's toys. You need it, they have it.

Now, on to my weekend! My best buddy Kristin came into town for the weekend and that always means a great time is in store. Even though I had to work all weekend we were able to find time to hang out. I also had the pleasure of getting to hang out with some other lovely people.
(Kristin & I Bff's)
On Saturday, 9 of us headed out to the lake, where we spent a few hours out on the boat and in the water. When we arrived at the marina, we noticed they have an area where you can feed fish and since the fish have realized people do this they swim around there continuously. There was so many fish it was unbelievable! Take a look...
It was sweltering hot and had I listened to Kristin, I wouldn't have brought my bathing suit but thanks to my judgement call before rushing out the door, I packed it. Thank goodness, because it was so hot out, we all ended up jumping into the water.
Basically the girls got in the water and the guys fished. It also didn't dawn on us to bring floats for the water so we were stuck with life jackets to use. Next time, we'll remember! It was also on this trip, that I realized my friend Kristin could be Rosie O'Donnell's twin sister. You be the judge...
Honestly, the lake was exactly what I needed after days of hard work. It was fun in the sun with great friends and in a great setting. Doesn't the lake look so pretty with the sun setting...
Now it's back to the reality of Monday. Hope everyone's weekend was fantastic!

Summer Fun

This past week was wonderful and the weekend was just as great. Saturday night, I went to my very first, Starlight Cinema

(At Starlight Cinema)
All last summer, I had been wanting to go to one of these and this year it worked out that I could attend. Basically, it's like a drive-in theater but you bring your camping chairs or blanket, sit on the group and watch the movie. However, in this town they show it at an amphitheater which is located on the river front. They have this giant screen up and you literally watch a movie under the stars (hence the starlight) and with the river breeze blowing. I thought it was really fun. They show a random array of movies and this weekend they played Big Daddy. I'd definitely like to go again! If you've never done something like this, then check your local listings because I know in other areas they have similar things.

I also had the luxury of getting to hang out with some great people this week. It actually feels like summer is finally here! Before this weekend it had rained for almost 9 days straight. How awful is that? Awful!

Lately, there's been a few things that I've wanted to talk about but I'm still debating if I want to. I usually talk about it on twitter so if you're over there tweeting, look me up! @Jmomiller

Yum! I'm eating a big plate of Crow!

Ok ok.......I admit it. I said that I couldn't stand the Sookie Stackhouse novels. I read the first one and was NOT impressed. I still stand by that comment. However, I have a lot of down time at work and someone had the second book so I read it. I don't know what happened but all of the sudden, it wasn't too terrible. I read it in 2 days. I'm now on the 3rd one and I'm almost finished. Before I go on my vacation (which starts Wednesday at 9:30am!) I need to go get book 4 because I only have about 20 more pages of Club Dead.

For all you Sookie Stackhouse lovers out there, is the True Blood show any good?
I don't have HBO so I hate to go buy the whole first season and it blow.

Memorial Day here....it's raining non stop. The family BBQ got postponed (to a day I'll be out of town) and I worked for 8 hours. FUN TIMES! BUT for me it always means Summer is here!
