Theater Thursday & New Years Eve

Theater Thursday is here! I'm not gonna lie....I'm a little sad the Christmas editions have come to an end. This week since it's New Years Eve, we'll be taking a look at Feds staring Rebecca De Morney and Mary Gross.
Coming out in 1988, Feds is about 2 women from completely different backgrounds, trying to make it through the FBI's training academy.
Ellie (De Morney) is an ex-marine who's physical abilities rival her fellow male cadets. Her only concern is making the grades. Janis (Gross), her roommate excels in the classroom but not on the physical challenges. These two women realize they must combine their knowledge or risk not making it through the academy.
Along the way they'll face heavy criticism, bizarre occurrences and freak incidents.

This movie is one of my all time favorites. It's really hard to find but if you can find it, watch it! You'll laugh the whole time!

Hope everyone has a wonderful and safe New Years Eve!! I've got plans with my steady and I can't wipe the smile off my face :)

Free Time

For the first time in awhile, I had free time. In between the holiday parties, hanging out with the boy, opening presents and stuffing my face with food, I've actually found time to read.
First read: Sam's Letters To Jennifer
All I can say is, SO SO good! I loved it. I found myself in tears at the end.
Second book: Mommywood
I'm not going to lie. I was a little disappointed in Tori's 2nd book. Maybe it's the fact that I loved the 1st one so much. Either way, it was pretty good but just not as good as her first one. It could be the fact that I found it hard to relate to someone with 2 kids, when I have none.
As for tv...I got Season 1 of Tudors and I am now obsessed! Where has this show been all my life?!?

Good Decades & Bad?

Where has the year gone? I really can't grasp that there's only 2 days left to the year 2009! At times, I felt like this year was never going to come to an end. Hours, days and weeks dragged on and on, feeling like the end would never come. Then something funny happened, November hit and the days started dropping like flies.
I've heard people say that when new decades begin things change. People can go from having horrible luck, bad experiences and not so great years to the polar opposite. I'm really hoping that'll happen to me.

Now don't get me wrong, overall this year has treated me pretty well. It had it's ups and downs but all in all it wasn't so bad. I was able to get a brand new car  I went on multiple road trips from the midwest to the east coast and mideast! I met some wonderful people and even met a few I'd rather forget. Re-lived bad dates, listened to crazy neighbors and even become an employee of the federal government. Woohoo!

So with the end of the year coming, I'm wondering... what will this new decade bring for me?

Most Asked Question

Once Friday afternoon hit, the most asked question I received over the weekend was, "What did Santa bring you for Christmas?" Well here's a sampling of how good Santa was to me...

A new digital camera! A Fujifilm J38
Some great books that I've been wanting to read
Tons of dvds

Victoria Secrets Pink Clothing.
I wasn't able to get the iphone. However, come May 27th, I'm gonna be all over that!
I hope everyone got what they were hoping Santa would bring them.

Theater Thursday

Before we begin this week's Theater Thursday let's take a moment of silence to honor our last Christmas Edition.... For our last edition we will be looking at my favorite Christmas movie: White Christmas
Can I just say how much I love this movie? I do! I love it!
White Christmas was inspired by Bing Crosby's other holiday theme movie, Holiday Inn. White Christmas stars, Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye as two war veterans who team up in the world of show business. Along the way, they become very successful and have a lavish production.

One night while doing a favor "for an old pal in the army" they watch a sister act featuring Judy and Betty Hanes. Bob and Phil become enchanted with them. When the girls find themselves in a jam, the boys quickly come to their aid by helping them escape to the train station. Before we know it their all on the same train and on their (unsuspecting) way to Vermont.
Upon their arrival, the guys run into their retired, commanding general. The general happens to be in the owner of the Inn they're staying at. After a few talks, Bob and Phil find out that the general is having a hard time having ends meet. Being the performers that they are, they decide to put on a production to try people in.
White Christmas is by far my favorite Christmas movie ever. Coincidentally, AMC is having a marathon of it all day today. Check it out! You won't be disappointed!
Merry Christmas Eve!!!

10,000 tons of ice cream

Does anyone ever feel like this kid? No? Hmm...well I sure did yesterday.
I feel like all I've done this holiday season is go, "I want that." or "I must have it!" When I've been out holiday shopping, I'll admit it...I might have thrown an elbow or two when another shopping "got up in my grill."
Truth is, I don't need anything (but hey...it's always nice to get gifts on the holidays), what I hope to continue to have is good health, to feel loved, my job and a roof over my head.

In other news, my friends' law firm Christmas party I mentioned the other day, well it's today. I finally, figured out what I was wearing, late last night, of course. And no, I'm not wearing the dress that I talked about and linked to. This is a brand new dress. It's getting it's debut wearing at this function. Hopefully it'll be a lot of fun. It's open bar so if not at least sorrows can be drowned.

Since tomorrow's post will be a Theater Thursday (last Christmas edition) insert sad face here. I'm going to go ahead and post my letter to Santa today....
Dear Santa,
Has anyone ever told you that 365 days is a long time to be good? Hmm...no? Well it is! Anyways, I may or may not have been the nicest girl but I've tried pretty hard this year. Considering the year that I've lived and some of the situations I've been put in, I feel I'm on the nice list :) So, with that I'm asking for something for Christmas. Please, oh please, pretty please bring me that shiny new iphone. Also if you could work on that other situation we've touched on before...well that would be wonderful as well. As always, I'll leave the cookies by the tree.
Thanks. J

48 hours of Patience!

At Christmas time, I become the most impatient person. I revert back to being a little kid and can't stand having to wait on opening gifts!
I love presents! Who doesn't? As soon as a present appears under the tree, I hone into it like it's on the terminator radar. I feel it, I shake it and then give it a guess. Usually, 9 times out of 10 I can guess what a present is. I think it's because I've had 25 years of practice. Haha!

This year, I think the most difficult present for me to buy was of course, for a boy. Why are guys so hard to buy for? I never know what to get. I went with something pretty safe and taped the receipt to the box just incase.

I'm really hoping I get what I asked Santa for this year. I guess I'll have to wait it out to find out...48 hours and counting.....

Through the darkness

I'm going to try really hard, but I fear this post may end up being a jumbled mess. Please bare with me because I need advice....

With the holidays fast approaching a lot of people are visiting family and friends. Someone I know but no longer speak to (who knows for whatever reason..because I've tried) is coming into my hometown. This person makes me feel uncomfortable, so uncomfortable that even the thought of them, instantly makes my stomach upset. Well Friday I heard thru the grapevine that they were on their way to town. I instantly became on the look out. Now it's as if I'm on recon missions when I'm out in public. I'm not even kidding, my stomach is in knots just thinking about the off chance we could run into each other. It's not that big of a town..it's bound to happen.

So anyways, Saturday night I go to bed not feeling well, I could tell I was starting to get sick with the flu or something along those lines. I finally fell asleep and went into dreams. And who happened to be in my dream? Oh that would be the person who makes me feel SO uncomfortable. In the dream it was different though., we were friends. We were laughing and talking and making jokes. BUT we weren't in my hometown. We were in another state (I knew which state) and in a place that I've never been or know if it even exist. There were also other people in the dream. People who may have I know, had a hand in us not being friends anymore. The dream eventually ended and I woke up sicker than the night before.

On a side note: I had a similar dream to last nights about a month ago.

Now here's the thing. If I see this person out should I stand tall, march right over and say hello? Or should I pretend I never saw them and look for the exit door? Right now I'm thinking I would do a mixture of the two. It's just such an awkward situation. I can't go into all the reasoning of why...but trust me...it's awkward. I've tried on multiple occasions to reach out. I just don't get it. I was never mean to this person nor did I do anything that would cause this behavior I've received over the last few months.

If you see a girl out and about in a bad wing and big sunglasses over the next two weeks, stop her and say hello. It could be me....

The Christmas List

The snow is piled up outside. My nose is stopped up and my fever is rising. Let's hope it's not the flu. I didn't ask Santa to bring me that for Christmas.
I got tagged by several people to do this so here it goes:

1. Have you started your Christmas shopping?
Yes. I have about 2 more people to buy for and then I'm done!

2. Tell me about one of your special traditions.
There's a lot. On Christmas eve we open up 1 present and then watch a Christmas movie. On Christmas morning we get up really early and open all our gifts. We eat a light snack and then head to my grandmothers where the whole family converges on a very large meal. We exchange family presents with each other and usually watch some kind of holiday show or film.

3. When do you put up your Tree? The Sunday after Thanksgiving

4. Are you a Black Friday shopper?
It depends. If I see something in the sale ad that I cannot pass up then I might go out for it. I try to steer clear of shoppers that day!

5. Do you travel at Christmas or stay home?
Luckily, my grandmothers house is only about 10 mins away. When I was a kid we would always leave the day after Christmas for Florida. To spend the rest of the year at Disneyland

6. What is your funniest Christmas memory?
Funniest...hmm I don't know. There's been a ton of great memories.

7. What is your favorite Christmas Movie of All time?
Tune into this weeks Theater Thursday to find out.

8. Do you do your own Christmas Baking, what’s your favorite treat?
When I was younger my mom, my grandma and I would bake for days together. Now it's usually me and my mom. I love pinwheel cookies! They are amazing!

9. Fake or Real Tree?
We always get a real one for our "big" tree. Then we have a few fake ones spaced out around the house.

10. What day does the actual panic set in to get it all done?
Usually I don't get too panicked but I'd say around Tuesday it'll hit.

11. Are you still wrapping presents on Christmas Eve?
Normally no and I hope this year is no different.

12. What is your favorite family fun time at Christmas?
Playing games together after our family meal.

13. What Christmas craft do you like the best?
I guess sending out Christmas cards.

14. Christmas music? Yes or No, and if yes What is your favorite song?
I love Christmas music but I can only handle so much of it. I think I've almost met my quota for this year lol

15. When do you plan to finish all your shopping?
Hopefully by Tuesday.

What not to say/do on a date Part 4

Incase you've missed out on the last 3 parts of this new segment I'm doing just look under my labels for "What not to do on a date."

Out of all the dates I've been on, this one ranks right up there in the, "Oh my god, how can I get out of here as fast as I can" kind of dates. I should have known it wasn't going to be a great date because it was a blind date (my one and only blind date that I will ever go on). A mutual friend set up the date and we met at the restaurant, Uno's.

As soon as I see the guy, my instant thought was, "Oh, he's cute!" We started talking, while waiting on our table and the conversation seemed nice. We sit down at our table and the waitress comes. It was in the late evening around 9p.m. so I decided to get a drink. I ordered, presented the waitress with my i.d. and then he placed his drink order...a water.

At first I didn't think anything about it. I thought, maybe he just didn't want a drink. My drink comes and I can see he's staring at it. So I ask him.
Me: "Did you not want a drink?" I was confused. It seemed like he did.
Him: "They won't serve me."
Me: Now I'm very confused. "What do you mean they won't serve you?"
Him: "I'm only 19 years old."

Ooooooh My Goooodnesssss. My 27 year old male friend, hooked me up on a blind date with a 19 year old?!?! At the time, I was 24 years old! I got through that dinner as fast as I could. The age difference was way too much. He didn't even remember watching School house rocks.

Theater Thursday

Theater Thursday: Christmas Edition is here! With Christmas being next week (Yes...you read that correctly..it's next week), I had a very hard time deciding between my final 2 movies. However, I've gone with National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.
This is a classic, I think everyone in my entire family can quote this movie word for word. I know I can! It's just not the holidays if this movie hasn't been watched.

If you've been living under a rock for the last 20 years (made in 1989) and have never seen this movie, then you must not walk, BUT run to the nearest store and BUY this movie. For those of you who haven't seen it....Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase) sets out to have the hap, hap, happiest Christmas. He invites his entire family to spend Christmas at his families house. Ellen, his wife predicts that it will not end well. And indeed, it does not. Along the way, many many things happen to Clark and his family. Some of them being the funniest things I've ever seen.
Incident after incident continues to happen. Clark nor his family can catch a break. Among his family is his cousin, Eddie.
Eddie is the kind of cousin we all have in our family. The kind that's not the brightest, mooches off people but yet has a big heart. He makes for an entertaining time though!
So check it out! I'm sure most of you have!

green swizzle sticks, peppermint balls, cupcakes, santa sucker

On the Go

I took each and every single piece of advice given to me yesterday about the dress. I actually ended up going to Target and buying that dress. It was too cute, not to get it. Even if I don't wear it for that Christmas party, I will wear it somewhere. So the hunt continues. I don't want to wear a LBD because I have the feeling most of the women will be in either pant suits or business casual. I still have a few days before the panic of finding something to wear sets in.

Umm...am I the only one who feels like they've been going non stop for weeks now. I think it all started the week before Thanksgiving. Between work, hanging out with friends, family gatherings, holiday parties and the crazy shopping I feel like I haven't had one minute to rest. I'm not seeing it slow down till January either....

I do have a few things to show for being on the go.
-Christmas Cards mailed.
-All but 1 person to buy for still.
-Tree's decorated.
-All presents wrapped.

Wednesday I'm going ice skating and I can't wait! I think it's such a fun thing to do this time of the year! Hope everyone is having a great Tuesday! I'll be posting pictures tomorrow of my newly updated, Wonka tree! I found doughnut ornaments...amoung other cute candy/food items!

Christmas Party Outfit...Help!

So I'm headed to my first Christmas party of the season and I have no idea if this dress is going to be appropriate. I'm going to my first ever, law firm Christmas party. I don't want to be under dressed or over dressed. It's being held at a bar/restaurant. I've also been told that it's open bar for the evening. The person I'm going with will be wearing a suit and tie because it's right after he gets off work.
So my question to all of you is....would this dress work? I'm thinking of pairing it with black tights and either black shoes or boots.

Please tell me what you think! The dress can be found on Target's site here. My only concern is that it might not be dressy enough.

What not to say/do on a date Part 3

If you missed the first 2 installments of this look under the labels tag "What not to do on a date."

A long long time ago, in a far far land...haha, ok you caught me! It wasn't that long ago nor was it far. It took place in my hometown. I was out on a date with this guy and we were having a really nice time. We had went out to eat and then ended up taking a walk in the local rose garden. It went over great. After our walk, we got back in his truck and he proceeded to take me home.

During the ride back, I heard this random noise, I wasn't really paying attention. I was looking out the windows, listening to the radio, etc. Well I heard it again. This time I looked over at my date and he was looking back and me with this really strange face. He goes, "I'm sorry." I was a little confused. Then he goes, "Oh my god! I'm so sorry!" and proceeds to roll down his window.

That's right kiddo's...you might have guessed it....he farted!

So then I'm like um ok....this is a little uncomfortable but I was going to play it off. No big deal everyone farts. Um...surprise! Guess what!?

This dude continued to fart, loudly the entire rest of the way home. I never got out of a car so fast in my life!

Leaps of faith

I chose to take a leap of faith in life. You know what happens when you take a leap of faith...
You can end of up on Cloud 9
feeling that big, cupcake, puffy heart love
busting out in gumdrops and happiness

Have you taken a leap of faith? How's it working out for you? Whether it be in work, living situations, relationships, friends or family sometimes you have to close your eyes, take a step and jump. You have to take the chance of failure to succeed.

I can't go into the full story right now, but I'm extremely happy in life. If you're a bitter bunny...turn that frown upside down!

Theater Thursday

Keeping with out Christmas Theme, this week's Theater Thursday featured movie is none other than: Arnold Schwarzenegger's holiday blockbuster hit Jingle All The Way. (And yes, every time I start talking about this movie, I say it with all that info)
Jingle All The Way came out in 1996. I remember seeing it in the theater twice that Christmas season. The first time we were on our family vacation in none other than Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. If you've never seen the movie here's a brief summary...
Howard (Arnold), is a non stop, on the go businessman. The day before Christmas he realizes that he never got his son the only thing he's asked for, for Christmas. A turbo man doll. The problem? Turbo man dolls are high in demand, have sold out and can't be found. In the search for a turbo man doll Howard runs into a fellow dad on the search for the doll, a postal worker named Myron (Sinbad). During their quest they battle it out, covering the city for the sparse item. Anything and everything happens to each of them.
However, while Howard is away from his home. His next door neighbor and single dad Ted (Phil Hartman) decides to seize the opportunity to make a play for Howard's wife Liz (Rita Wilson). He shows up to bake cookies, string lights and steel Howards' christmas thunder.
If you've never seen Jingle All the Way I highly suggest you do, it's a hilarious tale of how people will do anything and everything for those hard to find Christmas items.

Only 14 more days till Christmas!!!

Snow & The Jersey Shore?!

While the majority of you are getting this...
I am getting this...

Am I a little bit sad about this? Yes! Here's my theory when it comes to the freezing cold weather. If it's going to be balls freezing cold then it might as well snow. It rained all summer and fall. I'm tired of the rain. Please stop!
Anyways, I want to talk about a new show called, Jersey Shore.
Has anyone watched this? I kept hearing people talk about it for a few days so I finally decided to watch it when I saw it was on television. Annnnddddd, Oh my goodness! I found myself laughing out loud. I was screaming, "No he didn't just say that" and "Is this girl for real, who does that?!" The entire time I watched. If you haven't seen it, you must tune in!!! It's a pure devilish delight!

An important message

This time of year, every year, I think I become a little bit nicer. I don't know what it is, I blame the Christmas Spirit. I feel like this time of the year should be a joyous, magical and wonderful time for everyone. However, not everyone shares that view point... unfortunately. You think after the year I've had, that anyone could pull together some Christmas cheer. Days are short, life is short. It's time to pull it together people. There's no time to waste.

I like to use analogies. So here it goes: We've done this dance now for 5 long years. Either you're in or you're out. I can't keep dancing. My feet hurt. My heart strings can't be pulled anymore. It's time to decide.
That is all.
I will no longer be a yo-yo.

Also if you want a Christmas card please send me an email today. I'll be mailing them out tomorrow!!

A Christmas Candy Tree

I know I've teased you all with talking about my candy tree for far too long without showing you pictures. I'm sorry! However, I think I've rectified this with the following....Be prepared. I had so many ornaments I added a lot of them to my Wonka themed tree (found here). I'll be posting new pictures of it tomorrow! So this is a brand new tree I bought. I'm still need to add a tree skit and topper.

Tree with the lights!

Popsicle lights & peppermint lights
Hershey ornament
Jelly roll, gumdrop snowman, m&m girl, gingerbread girl
My snowman ornament from Meagan over at Adapting To Change
Pillsbury doughboy in the back
The great cookie man from Jenn over at Bull Sessions
My Silver heart & seahorse

I love him in his coco!
So there you have it! If you made it to the end haha! Tomorrow I'll post the new ornaments on the Wonka tree. They are so cute!
