Weekend Review

First of all, I can't believe it's June. Where has this year gone? It's gone by so fast! Anyways... This past weekend was one of the busiest weekends I've had in a long time. I was busy on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. My arms have a wicked sun burn to prove it thanks to the California summer sun.

On Wednesday, I went to a graduation and dinner at a place downtown called Lucca Restaurant and Bar. The food was amazing and the company was great as well. It was exactly what I needed to start the weekend off right.
The food was so great. Since we were in a large group we had a few options to pick from. I got a chicken but everyone was served the same dessert... warm chocolate cake. Apparently I don't like to share.

On Thursday, I got up and went to an all day BBQ and pool party. It was another perfect day outside with good food and good people.
That's how Thursday night ended. Friday I used the entire day to run errands and to recoup from the previous two days. I was tired from being outside and knew that I had another big day on Saturday coming up.

Saturday, Beezy and I drove to Lathrop, California so he could run in the Mud Run. Beezy and three members of his family decided to do the race together. I went to take photos and throw support at them. It was crazy hot and the course had tons of obstacles. Then of course you have to be in mud. All of them finished and that's a great accomplishment! Goooo Beezy!
 Almost to the finish line
He got a medal. I got a good skin day.

And that's how you spend a weekend. Happy Monday!

Workin' On My Fitness

When I was in high school and college, I was very active. I twirled for Marshall and because of that I was very active. I worked out in the gym everyday for hours. I had practices that would last for multiple hours every day. On game days I was be active for 8-10 hours and in every day life I was pretty active. I think because of that I was very fit. I had defined arms, a flat stomach and some meaty legs. Granted, I didn't have the best eating habits but I was eating. I wasn't a huge fan of vegetables. I was a college student and loved pizza, fries, noodles, etc. During college this is probably the skinniest that I was...
Let's not talk about my major watch tan line. I know.

I got really, really thin after my first major relationship break up and got sickly thin. I think I weighed like 115 here. Since I'm about 5'4'' and actually do have big bones it wasn't attractive. At the time I thought I looked fantastic because I mean really who doesn't want to be skinny in college? Looking back on these photos I was too thin. My big bones were sticking out.

But considering I like to eat...

Flash forward to 2013 and I'm starting to notice that I need to get in shape again. I need to work on my fitness. I want to spend this year working on getting back into shape and toning up my arms, stomach and legs. Santa has phoned me from the North Pole and let me in on the secret that I'm getting a treadmill for Christmas. I'm also going to invest in some hand weights. I'm going to work on eating better and by better I mean actually ingest things like wheat bread, fruits and vegetables. I'm also going to try out protein bars and healthy drinks. I'm going to have to break up with In-N-Out and my beloved Crab Rangoon from the local Chinese place. I'm going to put down the chocolate covered peanut butter balls, the little Debbie cakes and replace them with carrots and grapes.

Why have I decided to do this now? Because I'm going to  be 30 in June. I want to rock an awesome two piece bathing suit. I want to be physically fit again. The big motivator for me is that I've got an idea for something in the fall but I'm not willing to share it yet. I know I have to be in good physical shape for it, that's for sure! So we shall see kids. January 1st the fitness is on!

Now I just need to compile a good music playlist for working out. Suggestions? Also if anyone has any suggestions on nutritional drinks, shakes, bars etc. Please let me know! I need/want things that do not contain caffeine and less than 2grams in sugar.

My Newest Obsession

For the past 2 weeks I have been doing yoga.
I decided to do it on a whim one day and fell in love with it. I've been doing it 3 times a week and to me it feels fun and not like a work out. Don't get me wrong, I sweat while participating but it doesn't feel like one of those makes me want to cry kill me now tradition workouts. For me that's what got me hooked. I don't want to be screamed at while working out. I don't wanna hear, "Give me 5 more!" I just want to work out in peace.

I love the poses. I love that it's helping me bring back some of my flexibility that I've lost. I love that it makes me feel good. I also love to golf clap at the end because I just feel that good.
For me to be excited about a workout is unreal. I haven't been motivated for a long time in the work out department. I use to be obsessed with working out in college and since then it fell to the way side. Yoga... it's putting me in a good balance.
So my question is, do any of you do yoga? I've been trying to find places online that sell great yoga clothing but for cheap. I'm the only girl who's been rocking gym shorts and a t-shirt so I'm thinking I might need to rectify that soon. But I'm also not one of those girls who wears strappy little tank tops and tight tight shorts to the gym. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Warning! Bullets

I have about a million thoughts going on in my head. The only way I know how to get them out is in bullet points:
-I'm having a giveaway on Thursday so don't miss out!

-Someone e-mailed me saying that I haven't been showing up in their google reader or dashboard and asked me what the deal was. Answer: Um...I have no idea. Refresh the page? I could go through the steps like they do when you call about your internet being down. "Have you restarted your router? No? Let's do that...wait 30 seconds." I hate that crap. It's always awkward. Do you make idle chit chat to let them know your still on the line? I usually pretend a cough or clearing of the throat to let them know I haven't hung up the line. Haha, yes I'm that lame awesome.

-Remember all those books I posted about here. Well I've read 2 of them: San Diego and A Slice of Heaven. I'd recommend, A Slice of Heaven but when it comes to San Diego I really wanted to throat punch one of the main characters... so I'm going with, "It's a decent book but I wouldn't put it at the top of my go out and get it list."

-I've been working out (ie running) and if you know me, then you know I'd rather be one of those speed walkers, who looks like they have to poop cause they're walking so fast than be running.

-Someone at work, said something that kind of hurt my feelings. It must have because I'm still thinking about it. At work I've tried to make it a joke but in all actuality it wasn't funny for me. I think she tried saying it in a nice and caring way because we usually get along but it made me feel not so great. Boo

-I started taking things off the walls and that makes me very excited. The countdown is on people! Now I just need to get this yard sale organized to eliminate extra boxes filled with crap that don't need to be moved.

It's a great day in the neighborhood!

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening and goodnight everyone! It feels good to be back! I enjoyed my mini road trip but it's always nice to be in your own home and own bed.
First off, I guess I should share where I went running off to. I'm actually really surprised that no one guessed it, however I went to... (drum roll please) Pigeon Forge/Gaitlinburg, Tennessee

I love that place, I can't get enough of it! The fact that I might not get back there for a long time really saddens me but... hey you never know. I had a really great time. I went with my mother this time and we always have a great time on trips together. Sometimes I wonder how women who aren't close to their mothers go through life. I love my mom and no matter what she'll always be my best friend. Here's a photo of us together, waiting for the Dixie Stampede show to begin.
(Pardon the fact that I look like a troll)
Every time I'm down there I always try to do something different. This time we ended up going to the Star Cars Museum over in Gaitlinburg. I'd seen it from the outside several times but had never taken the time to go inside. It was really fun. I got to see lots of cars from movies that I love. I'd have to say my top 3 were the following:
The Ghost Busters wagon
The jeep from Jurassic Park
And Bumblebee from Transformers!
After touring the car museum, I divulged into some serious shopping, where I bought a new Coach purse and these lovely items:
and this dress, which I love!

I also bought 14 books but since I feel like I've written an entire book today. I'll leave the books for another post. Hope everyone is doing fabulous!

I feel like Chuck Norris beat me up

A few days ago I jumped on the bandwagon and ordered Jillian Michael's The Shred. It still has not arrived, but since I've been in a work out out mood (which is very very rare), I decided to start my working out today. The only workout dvd I own, I bought about a year ago. It's Jackie Warner's from the Bravo show WORKOUT.
Oh.my.efffing. goodness! I did the 20 minute lower body workout. The dvd is busted into three 20 minute workout sessions being: Upper body, lower body and core strengthening. I chose the lower body and seriously my legs are still feeling like jello. What's really sad is that about after 10 mins I turned it off. My legs were just hurting so bad! I could tell after the 10 minutes that my legs are going to be sore aching the next morning. I was correct. They are killing me. I must have some serious fat in my lower body because I am oh so sore.
