Have you ever seen the movie The Edge?
It premiered in 1997 and stars Alec Baldwin and Anthony Hopkins. I had not seen it till years after it's initial release. So if you haven't seen it still, don't feel bad, I don't think it was a major winner back in the 1997 box office. Before you read on there could be what some people consider a few spoilers right at the beginning...
The Edge is about a very rich man Charles (played by Anthony Hopkins) and his very young model wife Mickey (Elle Macpherson) and a photography crew head off to a remote part of Alaska to complete a photo shoot. While there the main photographer Bob (Alec Baldwin) and friend to Mickey decide that they need a specific looking man who's a local to be in some of the photographs. When they find out from the lodge owner that he's went bear hunting further north, they charter a plane to go in search of him. Bob, Charles and fellow photographer Stephen all head off in search of him. When they get to the cabin, they find a note on the door that he's gone further north and the pilot agrees to take them to the spot.
Suddenly a gust of birds cause the plane to crash and they are stranded in an area where their friends and family back at the lodge had no idea they went to. It's up to the three of them to survive and make it back to civilization or until help can reach them. It's also freezing cold and they have no supplies with them. I won't tell you the whole movie so if you want to see if they survive or not go watch it. I believe it's available for free on Amazon Prime.
Last year, when I was watching it, I noticed the shocking amount of times that Alec Baldwin mentioned the main character's name- Charles. Literally, he said it so many times that I started to wonder how many times he actually said it during the course of the movie. Next, I did what I think anyone would do nowadays and I went to google and asked, "how many times does Bob say Charles in the movie The Edge". Guess what? After many articles later no one could really tell me. So I did what any crazy person would do and the next time I watched the movie, I counted. Nope, not kidding. I actually sat there and kept a running tally to find out how many times he says it. Let me tell you, it was a lot!
Alec Baldwin aka Bob said Charles a total of 87 times.
No wonder it sounded repetitive in the movie. He literally says it all the time. I'm sure they made this on purpose but shewwwwww..... that's a lot of times to hear the name Charles.
If you've seen the movie, did you notice how many he says Charles? I think I've said it at least 5 times during this post because of it.

Favorite Soundtracks
There's nothing quite the same when a good song comes on the radio and you instantly remember it from one of your favorite movies. The other day I was coming home and normally I listen to the Elvis channel non-stop (I have Sirus radio) but I decided to just see what was on and instantly came Huey Lewis and the news and I was transported to watching Back to the Future as a kid (who am I kidding... a few weeks ago) and crushing on Marty McFly. So I started thinking about all the great movie soundtracks that have came in to my life. These are just a sprinkling of my favorites...
1. Romancing the Stone
If you've been reading for awhile, you already know my deep love for this movie. To me it isn't just a movie, it's a guide to life. The fact that the soundtrack is my number one should be no surprise. I actually walked down the isle at my wedding to the main titles.
2. Crocodile Dundee
The songs are all instrumental and I love them. My favorite songs on the album are: Mick Meets New York and the Theme. Maybe I should go out and get a didgeridoo since I love this soundtrack so much. I'm sure my neighborhood would love that. Fun Fact- Did you know that someone has actually played the didgeridoo for a solid 10 hours!?! Check it out! It's on youtube.
3. Grease 2
I know, I know... most people just love the first movie and can't stand the second but not me. I love the second movie even more than the first. Cool Rider is one of my favorite songs. Not to mention the Hula music and Girl for all Seasons. I have literally played this album over and over on road trips and know every single word.
4. White Christmas
My favorite Christmas movie and it took me 32 years to get the soundtrack. It's actually not available in the U.S. but I was able to score a burned copy from someone overseas. Due to the record labels they actually never released all of the songs on one album here in the USA but overseas they did! Now, I can sing along to Snow while driving home in 105 degree weather in June! It's terrific! And who doesn't love liverwurst and buttermilk to help you go to sleep?
5. The Blues Brothers

5. The Blues Brothers
The Blues Brothers is just one of those movie soundtracks that you just find yourself tapping your foot. Then you realize that your singing along and then you realize that you know all the words. I love the movie and I grew up watching it so it's natural that I know all the words to the soundtrack. While I'm not a big fan of the Blues Brothers 2000, I do love this original movie and soundtrack.
6. Sleepless in Seattle
I love this movie and I love the songs that are on the soundtrack. I love all of the older love songs and the newer (at the time) songs they also used. As Time Goes By is just a classic and we had this played at our wedding as well. I also love Harry Connick's A Wink and A Smile.
What's some of your favorite soundtracks?

Birthday Wish List
This year I'm turning the big 33. While I'm not too excited about the age, I am excited to celebrate my birthday! I always have my mom and boo asking for ideas of things they can get me for my birthday so here's a few things that I would love to call mine.
1. Toms.
I have a pair of canvas shoes that I recently pulled back out and I realized how much I love wearing those kinds of shoes. I recently saw a pair of Toms that would go with a lot of things that I wear and would be great for summer! Their in the color Ash.
2. Village Pieces.
On my recent trip to Tennessee, I was able to get several pieces for great prices. I want to keep adding to it and since all the pieces are so cute, it's hard not to! I got a great Marilyn who stands outside a theater, now I just need the theater! I love this Victory Theater! I also want the Griswold House because I have several pieces from the National Lampoon Series. I would also like to get Boss Shirley's house because I feel it's not as popular and they will discontinue it quickly.
3. Beauty & The Beast Mystery Mini.
I had no memory of ever seeing the original Beauty and the Beast animated movie. I think as a kid, I was just way more into 80s movies so I hardly remember watching any of the "classic" Disney movies. When the new movie came out, we went to see it and I really liked it! Funko came out with these Mystery Mini's of all the characters. Unfortunately, you don't know which one you are getting until you open the box and they made several of them available only at certain stores. I have got the entire set except one... Cogsworth the clock! I keep these little figures on my dresser and look at them every morning when I get up so I'd like to finish my set!
4. Books and Movies.
I love reading and I love movies. I'm still trying to get these movies (I've wanted them for quite some time) and I love books! I've been reading a lot this year! I need several of my favorite author- Stuart Woods.
Of course, I would just be happy to spend time with my boo and my mom! I wish we could spend my birthday together but this year Skype will have to do!

Fifty Shades Darker
Warning: This post includes spoilers.
First I want to say, I love the books. Yes, they are horribly written. Yes, he's controlling. Yes, to all of it but I find them entertaining and it's fiction. To me it's entertaining so it's served it's purpose. So before we start getting all up in arms over the fact that she's poor and he's rich and controls her let's go with the fact that this isn't real life. It's a fiction story and movie. This movie seemed to veer away from the book in several instances and I want to discuss a few of them. Now with that said let's dive right in...
Changes from the book to movie
First, the start of the movie. Ana shows up to Jose's photography show alone and she acts as if she didn't know he was going to be there at all. In the book, Christian makes it clear he wants to take her to the show and they go there together. Ana doesn't understand if their getting back together, if he's just being nice or what but they go there together. For me, I didn't like that they didn't have them go there together. It makes it more confusing if they do go there together because your still trying to figure out if he wants to try again.
Jose. So he's Ana's friend we know that. We also know that Christian isn't a fan of him. They never show any of their interactions in this movie. Yes, he's there in the background but they don't explain why. He just seems oddly out of place. Like he's a creepy friend just showing up at intimate moments in Ana and Christians lives. They should have tried to explain a little more why Jose was there from Portland on the night of the crash.
Ana and Leila. Ok, where to begin. In one scene we see Christian and Ana in bed together sleeping. They are clearly at her Seattle apartment. Ana wakes up for a brief moment in the night and finds Leila standing at the foot of her bed. Wrong! In the books Leila never goes into Ana's apartment until they face off with the gun. She's only ever seen in Christian's apartment. When we do get to the part where Ana finds herself with Leila in her apartment being held there at gunpoint things dramatically change.
In the book Leila only ever really seems to do any real harm to herself and the damage of property to Ana's car. In the movie when Leila is in Ana's apartment Leila fires the gun over Ana's head. At no time does this ever happen in the book. I felt like they tried to take Leila from a mentally ill women to an actual physcially dangerous person.
Things I wish were included
The first dance auction at Mrs. Grey's charity event.
Ana meeting Dr. Flynn (either time)
Mrs. Robinson trying to speak to Ana more at the ball.
Ethan- Kate's brother was completely omitted from the film.
I understand that they had to leave certain things out from the book. You can't have a movie that's 3 hours long. This isn't Gone With the Wind were talking about. I just wish they would have included a few more of these elements. I did think they covered Jack well and portrayed him in a way that set up his anger. My husband was a good sport and took me to the movie for Valentine's Day. Once we left he asked me why Jack was so mad so to someone who hadn't read the book they need a little bit more back history (which I'm sure we will get in the last movie). All in all I enjoyed the movie. I thought it was far better than the first!

Two Movies for Tonight
The first movie...Snowden.
Honestly, I had no interest in watching this movie but my husband wanted to see it so we did. As I started watching the movie, I got more and more into it. When the real life incident was taking place, I remember it being on the news and I remember everyone saying what a criminal Edward Snowden really was. Besides that I didn't know a lot about what he had done and the situation. I watched the movie and was completely blown away. Not about what he did but how the media covered it. First let's talk about what he did. He took NSA information outside of the agency and shared it with the world. Yes, it was considered spying but no agent was harmed. Why did he do it? To expose the fact that the NSA and other agencies were listening in on Americans who weren't doing anything wrong.
The movie follows the personal life and career of Edward Snowden. It shows he came to the position that he was when he took the information outside of the agency. It also shows the life he was having with his girlfriend Lindsey Mills. It shows their worldwide romance and constant battle of him not being able to talk about his work at all with her. It also shows the real Snowden and his reasoning behind his actions.
I highly suggest watching this. If you only watched some news coverage or even if you feel like you knew a lot about the events, watch it. You might learn something or find an opinion on the subject. For me, it made me really look at the media differently.
The second movie...Tarzan.
This Tarzan is a new twist on the Legend of Tarzan. Set in the late 1880s, Tarzan has been living out of the jungle and in England with his bride Jane. When a man from America named George (Samuel L. Jackson) asks him to go to the Congo with him in searching of rumors he's heard of people being taken into slavery, Tarzan agrees. Tarzan quickly learns that his old rival Mbonga, has hired a high ranking British official Leon, to bring him back to the Congo. What he'll get for delivering Tarzan is diamonds.
Jane is quickly taken hostage by Leon and separated from Tarzan. He must find a way to get her back. The only way is to trek through the dangerous jungle. Refusing to leave his side George follows him into the jungle is taken on the ride of his life. Tarzan enlists the help of every animal he's ever met to get Jane back. Meanwhile Jane and Leon on traveling down the river in the Congo getting closer and closer to Mbonga. You'll have to watch to find out if Tarzan can get Jane back and if they'll make it out of the Congo once again.
I thought this was an interesting twist on a story that's been told over and over again for the ages. I thought the interaction with the animals was life like and the scenery of the jungle was breathtaking.

Two Movies for Tonight
The first movie... Exit to Eden.
I might be the only person excited about this movie. Exit to Eden came out in 1994 and was quickly a flop in theaters. It then went out of print once it was produced on dvd and could only be viewed on VHS for years. Now... finally, Exit to Eden is back in print as a part of the Vault Series. This movie is so hilariously bad that it's good. I asked for this for Christmas and I was thrilled when I got it on dvd. Watch it, you'll enjoy it as a good laugh.
Exit to Eden stars Rosie O'Donnell (Shelia) and Dan Aykroyd (Fred) as two Los Angeles Detectives who are out to catch some Diamond smugglers. When Elliott Slater, a professional photographer accidently gets a photo of the smugglers he becomes a target. Before the smugglers can get to him and his camera he jets off to the island of Eden. Eden is an island where BDSM thrives and you can live out all your fantasies. Quickly to protect Elliott Fred and Shelia go undercover to the island. Elliott and the gang end up getting more than they bargained for..... watch the outcome!
The second movie... The Long, Long Trailer.
The Long, Long Trailer stars Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz as Nicholas and Tacy who are newlyweds. These two have bought a 40ft. trailer and are travelling across the United States to get to Nicky's new work location in Colorado. This trip will be a part of their honeymoon. Tacy is excited to make this trailer their home along the way and once they get to Denver. However, once they get the trailer things begin to go haywire. Their car isn't strong enough to pull the trailer so their forced to buy a new car. Then Nicky has to learn how to drive the new car with the long, long trailer in tow.
The mountains on their travels begin to take a toll on their trailer and their spirits begin to get crushed along the way as well. These two find out that being newlyweds is harder work than they originally thought. The trailer doesn't help them at working well together. Their journey turns out some hilarious moments along the way.
I had seen this a long time ago but recently watched it over the holidays. If you loved the I Love Lucy show this is very similar in ways. Give it a watch and I'm sure you'll find yourself laughing at the crazy situations they get themselves into.

Two Movies For Tonight
Looking for something to watch tonight? Time is precious and you don't want to spend time searching for a movie to only be disappointed with it in the end. So that's why I've brought you two movies for tonight. The movies I review here give you an idea of what's good to watch any time you want to quickly get a movie and start watching it. This week I'm giving you two movies that are totally worthy of your time.
The first movie... In the Heart of the Sea.
I was a little skeptical of watching this movie. I thought it was going to be just another version of the overdone Moby Dick story. Once I started watching it, I realized that it wasn't going to be just another Moby Dick. It was entertaining and made me want to brush up on my knowledge of the actual Moby Dick story. In the Heart of the Sea takes place in 1820 and focuses on the sinking of an American Whaling ship named the Essex. It's the event that inspired the story for Moby Dick. As the viewer we get to see Herman Melville the author hear the story that lead to the writing of his famous story.
While I thought the movie was entertaining it wasn't one that I would get sit around and watch anytime I saw it on television. The movie is long and at certain sections it feels very drawn out. I mean we get it... it's a large whale. We get that your starving and dying of thirst. But I really did enjoy watching the movie. It was entertaining. I thought the ending was a little weak but the story line all together was very good.
I'm going to preface this whole review of The Gift by saying that I am NOT a fan of scary movies. I get scared easily and I usually sit out on any scary movies. I can barely watch the first Scream movie and the original Halloween during the Halloween season. So when my husband turned this movie on I knew that it was going to be tough to watch it.
There was a few sections that I was squinting my eyes and scrolling through my instagram feed to get my mind off the movie (yep, the movie was still playing). It's definitely got a few jump out of your seat moments. There's a few moments that I felt were predictable but that could be because I sat and overanalyzed the movie because I was scared!
Simon and Robyn move out of the big city and back to Simon's hometown. Within the first few days of being back in town, he runs into someone he went to high school with, Gordon. Simon doesn't remember Gordon but Gordon has never forgot Simon. Gordon immediately wants to be best friends with Simon and his wife Robyn. He begins to come around and leave gifts for them at their new home. Simon is creeped out by it and Robyn thinks that Gordon is socially awkward. As time goes on they both believe they need space from Gordon. The only person who doesn't think so is Gordon.
Have you seen either of these movies? What did you think?

2 Movies For Tonight
Looking for something to watch tonight? Maybe you don't have time for tonight but you'll need something for the weekend.Well look no further because here's two movies that are worthy of watching. The first movie is family friendly but the second is adults only!
The first movie... Max.
Max isn't just a dog, he's a hero. Max is one of the hundreds of dogs being used by the armed forces in our hunt for rooting out terrorists. Max and his owner/trainer U.S. Marine Kyle Wincott are on a mission in Afghanistan. While on mission their squad is questioned about missing arms that were seized. Once the questioning is over they head out on a mission. During the mission they become pinned down in a fire fight and Kyle is shot a killed. Max is shipped back to the U.S. and seems to have lost his purpose. The United States Marines bring Max to Kyle's family and ask if they want to take him in because they have found Max unfit for duty since losing his handler has caused him PTSD and he's become unresponsive to commands.
Kyle's younger brother, Justin is the only person in the family Max will respond to. Justin who is a troubled teenager doesn't really want to take care of the dog but decides since it was his brothers he should. When one of Kyle's fellow Marine's, Tyler shows up having just got out of the service, Max becomes violent towards Tyler. Tyler explains to Ray (Kyle's father) that it was Max's misbehavior that got their son killed. Ray is immediately put off by the dog and when a sheriff shows up later saying Max took a bite out of him he's ok to put the dog down. Justin though knows that something is wrong because he's been fishing out the real answers on why Tyler is back from the Marines.
Will Max be put down or will he show why he's a real hero. Watch and find out!
The second movie... The Edge.
Charles Morse (Anthony Hopkins) is a billionaire married to a fashion model, Mickey (Elle Macpherson). Along with some of Charles' entourage they head to a remote part of Alaska for a photo shoot. Charles is given a book as a gift by an employee and begins reading the book on wilderness survival. Charles and his group are the only people staying at the Alaskan lodge for the photo shoot being led by Bob (Alec Baldwin).
When a male model gets sick, Bob, another worker and Charles head out in a floater plane to go in search of a local man that can fit into the photo shoot. When the plane hits a flock of birds and has to crash land in the Alaskan wild, Charles will rely on his newly learned wilderness skills from the book he's just read. What the book couldn't teach Charles is how to survive against Bob who's been fooling around with Mickey and wants to get rid of Charles. The men will have to work together if their going to survive until help can get to them.

2 Movies for Tonight
Looking for something to
watch tonight? Maybe you don't have time to watch anything tonight but you'll be bored stiff over the weekend?
Well don't worry! Here's two movies that will get you through it! Recently watched and now reviewed by me so you'll get a better idea if it's something right for you.
Denzel Washington stars as Special Agent Doug Carlin from the ATF. He finds himself on Fat Tuesday in New Orleans dealing with a ferry boat that has just exploded and in turn killing 543 people. The boat was carrying families and hundreds of U.S. Navy sailors across the Mississippi River into the city. When he gets on the scene he finds evidence of a bomb planted by a domestic terrorist. He also finds a body identified as a woman named Claire that was murdered and made to look like one of the victims of the bombing.
Impressed by Carlin's eye to detail, the FBI lets him in on a project that they've been developing ran by a small team. Using a machine they are able to go back in the past and see events leading up to the bombing. Carlin works with them on trying to locate the bombing and stopping it before it ever starts. At the same time Carlin becomes emotionally investing in keeping Claire alive.
I had not seen this movie until recently and I thought it was intriguing and entertaining. The story line was a little hard to understand at first because of the group going back and forth in present day and past. I really liked it though and it's not like your typical movie.
The second movie... The Siege.
FBI Agent Anthony Hubbard (Washington) is working in New York City with his Lebanese-American partner Frank shortly after a Military installation in the Middle East was bombed. The USA found and captured the mastermind behind the attack. When Hubbard gets word that a bus has been hijacked and is fully loaded containing a bomb they go out in search of the culprits. The bomb turns out to be a paint bomb and the attackers get away. Searching for the terrorists hiding in New York City they begin working with an agent Elise Kraft (Annette Bening).
While Hubbard, his partner and Elise are searching for the terrorist, they begin striking out against the NYC population. They bomb several huge targets and the FBI is brought to center stage on having to root out the terrorist cell and stop the chaos that has been brought to NYC. When things get out of hand, the U.S. Military comes into town and starts calling the shots.
I thought this movie was really good and I thought that it was spot on with things that were really happening before 9/11.

2 Movies for Tonight
Looking for something to watch tonight? Maybe don't have time for tonight but your lining up your weekend? Well don't worry! Right here is two movies for tonight or any other night in the week that will entertain you.
The first movie... Creed.
I am a deep lover of the Rocky series. I have fond memories of growing up and watching these movies. Stations like TNT and TBS would pull Rocky out for every holiday and do marathons so in my house it was pretty common to be eating thanksgiving turkey with some Rocky Balboa on in the background. While some may view and label these movies "just about boxing" they are in reality about so much more. It's the heartache, the daily struggle and about finding the strength within to go for your dreams.
The latest installment in the series brings us someone new. We learn that Apollo Creed had an affair and with it came an illigetimate son named Adonis. While Adonis never got to know his father because of that fateful fight, Adonis loves to be in the ring. He is a fighter. While Apollo's wife has taken care of Adonis since she found out his existence as a young child, she can't support him in this dream considering it's what took Apollo away from her. Alone, Adonis leaves Los Angeles and travels to Philadelphia in search of his "uncle" Rocky Balboa. He has a dream of him training him and helping him reach the level of his father. When he realizes that Rocky refuses to have anything to do with the boxing life again, he begins training in Philly on his own. When Rocky comes around the whole game changes...
I really enjoyed Creed and thought it was a great installment to the series. Stallone completely deserved his Academy Award nomination and in my eyes should have won for best supporting actor.

The second movie... Aloha.
I had been meaning to watch this movie since I saw the previews for it being in the theater. Then life happens and you get busy. Well this past weekend I finally watched Aloha. I'm a big fan of Emma Stone and Bill Murray and in all actuality most of the cast for this film. So when I saw it on HBO the other day I knew it was meant to be to finally sit down and watch it. I thought it was different. It wasn't exactly what I thought it was going to be aka your normal romantic comedy. It was tricky and you had to watch what was going on so you would catch things in the relationships. I liked it though.
Aloha stars Bradley Cooper as Brian, a military contractor who's came back to Hawaii after being gone for thirteen years. He's there on behalf of Billionaire Carson Welch (Bill Murray) to secure a blessing from Hawaiian natives for a new pedestrian gate. He's assigned to a military liaison Captain Allison (Emma Stone). Weekend Recap
Our first Valentine's Day as a married couple is in the history books. Last year we went to Las Vegas this year we were originally going to San Diego but changed our plans at the last minute. So while our actual Valentine's Day was low key we still spent time enjoying each other.
We saw, Ride Along 2.
I thought it was really funny. A lot of people have asked me if it was worth seeing it in the theater. Well.. you have it take it for what it is. It's not a movie that's going to be Oscar nominated but it's a good movie. I thought it was really funny and just as good as the first one. If you liked the first one then I think you'll like this one. Then I had a project for work to do. I volunteered to help out with this year's Valentine's Day fundraiser and ended up doing a lot of the work. We had to make 144 pretzel rods, 130 strawberries and 65 rice krispy treats. Oh the fun....
All of my hard work was rewarded though when my Valentine gave me this...

The Apple iwatch! I've wanted it since I first saw the commercial for it! I feel like a mixture of Penny from Inspector Gadget, Marty McFly and Tom Hanks in Dragnet when I wear it and that is perfect for me! I've already got the apps I want on it, got my settings adjusted and learned how to voice text! It's pretty cool if you ask me. I know some people don't love Apple products but I really do. Now I just need to get a black band as well to mix it up.
Hope you all had a very Happy Valentine's Day!
