Birthday Wishes & Cavier Dreams

This year I got a vacation for my Birthday! I feel like the trip itself is the present but my husband and mother have both requested that I tell them a few items I'd like to have for my birthday. I can't believe I'm going to be the big 32 this year. Time is flying... make it slow down!

I racked my brain and consulted my Amazon wish list and came up with a few items I'd like to see from the Birthday ferry.

1. Sleep In Heavenly Peace Pillows.

These just aren't any pillows, they are literally pieces of heaven. They are so soft they feel like they could have been clouds plucked from the sky. I've rested my head on them for one night and they were magical. They are made exclusively for the Inn at Christmas Place in Pigeon Forge and can be purchased only from them. Seriously, even if you've never used these pillows call and order one. They will change your sleep forever and in an amazing way!

2. Department 56 Animated Skating Pond, Lemax Chan's Chinese Antiques & Lemax Village Christmas Cable Car.

I seriously love Christmas and last winter I started collecting village pieces. I had been wanting to start a Christmas village for years and last year I got the first few pieces to begin one. Then at Christmas my mom surprised me by adding more village pieces to my collection. This Christmas season it's going up for the first time! I am so excited to create this tiny village that I have created in my head. These are three of the many pieces I would love to add to my collection! They have them all at Christmas Place and I even have a membership card there for rewards!

3. Starlight Mint Red & White Tree or Stiletto Black Pencil Tree.
The past few years I've created a new tree every year. Last year was no different when I created my Gold Elvis Tree. Last year for our wedding we had guests sign ornaments and our cake topper can be used as a tree topper. The ornaments for our wedding were bright colors. I feel like they would look great on that black tree. I've always played with the idea of having a black tree. The Red and white tree would be another great tree to put up. It's a slim tree and would go with some ornaments that I have.

4. Books.

My favorite author Stuart Woods has several books out that I haven't read yet. Scandalous Behavior, Family Jewels and Dishonorable Intentions. He's got three books out and I've never been this far behind in his book series. I've been reading them since I was 14 years old. He's got another book scheduled for release in August. I've also really started liking the Harry Bosch series by Michael Connelly. I've read the first three books in that series. I think he has 21 books out so far.

5. Movies.

This is how they get you. I love the movie The Martian. I have it on dvd and I've watched it at least 25 times. Now on Jun 7th their coming out with an extended dvd that has ten more minutes of movie and extra deleted scenes. I want to get this so I can see the new 10 minutes of the movie. It's so good! There is also a TON of Christmas movies that I want from Hallmark. What can I say? I love those movies. I have a ton of them on my Christmas wish list on amazon. Hint.

6. Contemporary Orange Chair and Ottoman.
I saw this in a furniture store and loved it. I think it would look great in our front room or even in our bed room. It was so soft and the whole set was only $200.00 but I'd love to get two chairs and a table for our bedroom.

Saturday Smiles

Every Saturday, I try to post 5 things that made me smile during the week. Often I find myself getting caught up in the small stuff but this year I'm making an effort to be conscious of it. This year is about being happy and finding happiness even in the small things! Want to join me? Go ahead and post your Saturday Smiles!

1. Vacation.

Rental Car, accommodations, airline tickets and entertainment planned. It's all done! I am so excited to go on vacation. I'm just counting down the days. Literally I feel like this...

2. Canelo vs. GGG.
Clearly we know who I'm rooting for to win if this fight ever happens. Canelo gave up the belt and I think it's because he didn't want to come up 5 pounds in weight. Their promoters keep saying that the fight will happen but we have no idea when. The fans are guessing that it won't happen this year.

3. Warm Weather.
California is heating up. This past week was in the high 90s so everyone out here is planning for a hot, hot summer. I think they might be right because the weather feels like it did when I first moved out here and that was the hottest summer I had ever felt. I can remember on July 4th it was like 120 degrees and the electric grid couldn't even stay up. Let's hope it doesn't get that bad again.

4. Bosch Books.
It all started for me by watching the Amazon Prime series Bosch. We binged watched Seasons 1 & 2 and are now left hanging waiting on season three to come out. When I was telling a coworker this she informed me that it was made off of a book series. Indeed she was right! I got the first book by Michael Connelly and flew through it. Now I'm on book two. These books are great and I can see why they made the show off of them. Now I've got something to get me through until the next season starts.

5. Christmas Ornaments.

I'm my own little factory every night after I come home from work. I come home, get changed and relaxed, eat dinner and then start working on my ornaments. Some nights I can finish an ornament and then some nights I have to finish them the next. On the weekends I try to make at least 2-3 ornaments. I'm still loving making these! I'm taking orders so let me know if you see something you love. Once certain fabrics are gone I can't get them again.

What's making you smile?

Two Movies For Tonight

Looking for a movie to watch tonight? Don't have anything to watch on television since we are going into that summer lineup blackout? Well don't worry I've got two movies right here that are worth watching. Don't have time tonight? Watch them this weekend!

The first movie... Deadpool.

I should preface this by saying that I am not a huge fan of comic book movies. I'm not a girl who instantly has to rush to the theater to see the latest Avengers or XMen movie. However, my husband is a fan and this weekend we finally got around to seeing Deadpool because we missed it in the theater. I have to say that I thought it was pretty funny but at the same time incredible raunchy. This is not a movie for kids by any means.

Deadpool is about a young man named, Wade who living in the prime of his life, he's young, he's got a great girlfriend but has an odd job. When he's hit with a terminal medical condition everything changes for him. Not wanting to burden his girlfriend he leaves in the middle of the night without saying goodbye to enter an experimental treatment program. This treatment program though isn't sanctioned in a hospital and he's told up front that it could cause some side effects even if the treatment does work. Luckily for Wade the treatment works but scars his body from head to toe. It also gives him the remarkable ability to regenerate limbs, take bullets without any problems and basically be indestructible. When his nemesis hits him where it hurts... his heart he's finally willing to face the demons and risk seeing her again.

The second movie... The Godfather Part I.

This movie is a classic and I had never watched it until this past week. Yep, it's true! I think because it's so long, I never actually sat down to watch it. The movie is a little over 4 hours long and I feel like it could have been condensed down to 2-3 hours. The movie itself was very good.

The Godfather follows the Italian family of Don Vito Corleone. The family lives and breathes the orders of Don. Don has connections everywhere from Politicians to shop owners. If he needs something done it gets done... no matter what the order is. If someone needs something done for them then they come to the Don but by coming to him, the person knows that they will later be called on for a favor by Don. The favor must be honored. Don has three sons one of them being Michael (Al Pacino). He doesn't want this life of organized crime for him. He's a war hero, a college graduate! He wants him far from this life.

When a hit is called on Don and he's gunned down, his son Sonny steps up to the plate. Michael tries to help the situation remain calm but ends up settling the score and is forced to flee the country and go to Italy. There he meets a beautiful woman and falls in love. When he gets new that he can return to America he does so but once he returns he joins in the family business.

At the same time Michael has a straight laced girlfriend who wonders what ever happened to their budding romance. Once Michael went to Italy she never heard from him again. Will she sit around and wait for him to one day return? Will Michael be able to go deep into the world of organized crime? Watch this classic and find out!

Who wants to carry around a big purse when their walking through a theme park or on an African Safari? No one! So when fanny packs came back in style I was ecstatic to see them in stores again. Now their being called belt bags and I'm ok with that because their all one and the same.

2 Movies For Tonight

Looking for something to watch tonight? Maybe you don't have time for tonight but you'll need something for the weekend.Well look no further because here's two movies that are worthy of watching. The first movie is family friendly but the second is adults only!

The first movie... Max.

Max isn't just a dog, he's a hero. Max is one of the hundreds of dogs being used by the armed forces in our hunt for rooting out terrorists. Max and his owner/trainer U.S. Marine Kyle Wincott are on a mission in Afghanistan. While on mission their squad is questioned about missing arms that were seized. Once the questioning is over they head out on a mission. During the mission they become pinned down in a fire fight and Kyle is shot a killed. Max is shipped back to the U.S. and seems to have lost his purpose. The United States Marines bring Max to Kyle's family and ask if they want to take him in because they have found Max unfit for duty since losing his handler has caused him PTSD and he's become unresponsive to commands.

Kyle's younger brother, Justin is the only person in the family Max will respond to. Justin who is a troubled teenager doesn't really want to take care of the dog but decides since it was his brothers he should. When one of Kyle's fellow Marine's, Tyler shows up having just got out of the service, Max becomes violent towards Tyler. Tyler explains to Ray (Kyle's father) that it was Max's misbehavior that got their son killed. Ray is immediately put off by the dog and when a sheriff shows up later saying Max took a bite out of him he's ok to put the dog down. Justin though knows that something is wrong because he's been fishing out the real answers on why Tyler is back from the Marines.

Will Max be put down or will he show why he's a real hero. Watch and find out!

The second movie... The Edge.

Charles Morse (Anthony Hopkins) is a billionaire married to a fashion model, Mickey (Elle Macpherson). Along with some of Charles' entourage they head to a remote part of Alaska for a photo shoot. Charles is given a book as a gift by an employee and begins reading the book on wilderness survival. Charles and  his group are the only people staying at the Alaskan lodge for the photo shoot being led by Bob (Alec Baldwin).

When a male model gets sick, Bob, another worker and Charles head out in a floater plane to go in search of a local man that can fit into the photo shoot. When the plane hits a flock of birds and has to crash land in the Alaskan wild, Charles will rely on his newly learned wilderness skills from the book he's just read. What the book couldn't teach Charles is how to survive against Bob who's been fooling around with Mickey and wants to get rid of Charles. The men will have to work together if their going to survive until help can get to them.

8 Hours to Vegas

Last Wednesday, I was scrolling through my feed on instagram and saw Triple G (the boxer) announce that he was going to be at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on Friday at the Field of Dreams store meeting and greeting fans. I instantly thought, "Oh that would be so cool to meet him!" I'm a huge GGG fan and so is my husband. He is the knockout king of boxing and he's always very entertaining in his interviews. Well, I finished scrolling through my feed and went back to work but I had told my husband about it. Flash forward to Thursday afternoon and I get a call from my husband asking me if I can get Friday off work because we're going to Las Vegas.

By 4:00 a.m. on Friday morning we were up and getting ready to get in the car. Since it was such a last minute trip we couldn't fly but we could drive. So we got in the car and headed to Las Vegas. We made really good time and rolled into town by 1:30 p.m. We checked into our hotel, MGM Grand and immediately got down to Caesars Palace to see if there was already a line forming because GGG was starting at 5:30 p.m. There wasn't a line so we went to Planet Hollywood to grab something to eat. Then once we were done eating we got in line and were only the 3rd people in line.

GGG showed up and we got to meet him! I was so excited I even asked him for a hug! Which of course he was generous and gave me. I think he was surprised someone was like Can I have a hug?

I then of course tweeted, instagramed and facebooked the photos. Well of course we couldn't drive all the way to Vegas for just a 15 minute meeting so we stayed in town for the Canelo vs Khan fight the next day. I'm not a Khan fan so I was rooting for Canelo to win. We also hit up one of my favorite things on the strip... M&M World.

The fight took place at the new T-Mobile Arena located behind the NYNY hotel and Monte Carlo. This is the first fight to take place there since it's opening. Outside the arena they had all of the fight gear up in their courtyard.

The night of the fight we were sitting up top but still had a good view of the fight. I had never seen someone knocked out so hard like that in person before. I thought he was dead for a few minutes that's how long he laid on the carpet. It was a really good fight and I can't wait for the next match up which is suppose to be GGG. Clearly we all know who I'll be rooting for in that match up.

The next day after the fight we had to get up and drive back to Sacramento. We were once again blessed by the traffic Gods and made it back in good time. It was a fun little road trip for us and we were able to meet our favorite boxer!

Top 3 Outfits of April

Four months in to my quest of not wearing jeans every day is in the books. Here's the fashions that I ended April ended with...

Shades of Green
You can't really see it but this top is different shades of green and my sweater is a mint green. I love this sweater and it always comes in handy for some extra color.

Market & Spruce
I wore this casual hi-low top on Wednesday and it was a hit at work! It's simple but fancy.

I ended the month by getting my nails done. This is the first time I've ever done a Matte and I have mixed feelings about it. I loved how they turned out but the matte doesn't last as long as your regular gel gloss polish.
