Today is a very special day. Today is Beezy's Birthday!

I don't think there's any way I could correctly describe in words how much he means to me. How much he's made me happy and how much fun we've had together. I only hope that I've given him as much support, happiness and love as he's given me. So today on this very special day, I am wishing him a very Happy Birthday filled with love. Here's to many more years of Happy Birthdays.

My Champion

On Saturday, Beezy and I got up early and headed to San Francisco so he could participate in the Spartan Race.

Have you heard of the Spartan Race? It's an obstacle course style 5k race. You have to crawl through tubes of muddy water, climb ropes, leap over walls and let's not forget... run. There is no way I'd ever be a participant but a few months ago when Beezy said he wanted to sign up, I said go for it. In San Francisco it was being held at AT&T Park, home of the San Francisco Giants.

The Spartan Race took up the entire stadium. They utilized the ramps up to different levels, the stairs and the field. Not only did participants have to run 3.1 miles they also had to complete 21 obstacles. I won't name all of the obstacles but some were climbing over walls, climbing rope and carrying heavy items while going up and down stairs. We got to the race with enough time for Beezy to get signed in and get his bib. Since this race is pretty rough they prefer contestants NOT to wear their bibs due to the safety pins and give you a headband to wear instead. I also got singed in as a spectator. He was number 7600! I followed him over to the starting point and from then on I had to head to my seat in the stands.

Since they give all the spectators a map of the course you kind of have an idea where your loved one should be based on their start time and where you last saw them on the course. I knew he first time I'd be able to see Beezy would be running towards the climbing up the rope obstacle. And of course I was right...

 Once those were complete he had to make it up the rope wall and back down. Then he had to hop up and down bleaches in the outfield. There was also a lot of running and jump roping going on behind the scenes that we couldn't see from our vantage point.

After that it was up to the second level of the stadium. At this point I was really impressed. The course was extremely physical and way more than just running. I was nervous for Beezy but he was doing great. Way better than I could have ever done.

When he crossed the finish line I was so excited for him. He went into this race just wanting to finish and he accomplished that! I'm so proud of him and he did great. His first Spartan Race was a success! Go Beezy!

Love you Beezy! You are totally my champion! Maybe with a little coaxing, I can get him to answer questions about the race if anyone has some.

The Gap

Today I want to talk about The Gap. No, not the clothing store. This gap...

Known as the Gap, it's technical name is Diastema. It's when two teeth have a gap in between them. The most common is between the two front teeth. Often referred to by the French as "Dents du Bonheur" which translates to Lucky Teeth! Now you are probably sitting there reading this and wondering why in the world is she talking about teeth gaps. Take a guess who has one? That's right! It's Beezy.

It's not a photo without some teeth! (PS my mom made a joke that he doesn't take photos showing his teeth so he responded with this)

 

He's had the gap the entire time I've known him but Beezy says that the gap use to not be there. When he was younger the gap had been closed up due to him wearing braces. Then after the braces came off the gap stayed gone because he wore a retainer. When he went into the air force he lost his retainer and said screw it. He would have had to wear that retainer every single night for the rest of his life to keep the gap at bay. As soon as he left basic he was shipped overseas and didn't have his regular dentist so he was like forget it.

Now beezy is in the company of some great people with gaps. People like...

Anna Paquin who stars in True Blood and holds an Oscar. One of the youngest Oscar winners ever by the way. Then of course of the greatest stand up comics ever and movie star Eddie Murphy. My personal favorite was Coming to America but with Trading Places, Beverly Hills Cop 1 and 2 rounding out the top three movies of his.

 

Then you have successful musician and activist Elton John. He's spanned multiple decades and his music has still remained popular to this day. He's been knighted and he's still out there making music and doing good deeds for worthy causes.

 

 Then of course there's Beezy's favorite teeth gap friend, Michael Strahan. Don't know him? He's the co-host of Kelly and Michael with Kelly Rippa. He's also a Super Bowl Champion and played for 15 years in the NFL.

 

 And finally there's my personal favorite....

Arnold Schwarzenegger. He came to America from Austria seeking success in Body Building and he created an empire. He won more body building titles that anyone else ever. He became successful in film, was an ambassador in fitness for a President and even became Governor of California. His gap has gotten smaller over the years but he'll also be apart of the Gap Team.

The 4th Highest Bridge in the United States

Have you ever heard of the Foresthill Bridge? No? Neither had I until Beezy started talking about it. The Foresthill Bridge is located in Auburn, California and is the 4th highest bridge in the United States of America. The bridge is also famous from being featured in the movie XXX starring Vin Diesel.

Looks like an ordinary bridge but then you see how far up from the ground you really are...

Now you can see why Vin Diesel's XXX scene is pretty famous. At 730 feet tall it's no surprise this scene would become famous and people would want to cross over the bridge. I believe you can also walk the trails that are underneath the bridge.

Here's some more photos so you can get an idea of how long and how high this bridge it. It really does deserve it's place in the top 5 tallest of the U.S.A.

Weekend Review

First of all, I can't believe it's June. Where has this year gone? It's gone by so fast! Anyways... This past weekend was one of the busiest weekends I've had in a long time. I was busy on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. My arms have a wicked sun burn to prove it thanks to the California summer sun.

On Wednesday, I went to a graduation and dinner at a place downtown called Lucca Restaurant and Bar. The food was amazing and the company was great as well. It was exactly what I needed to start the weekend off right.

The food was so great. Since we were in a large group we had a few options to pick from. I got a chicken but everyone was served the same dessert... warm chocolate cake. Apparently I don't like to share.

On Thursday, I got up and went to an all day BBQ and pool party. It was another perfect day outside with good food and good people.

That's how Thursday night ended. Friday I used the entire day to run errands and to recoup from the previous two days. I was tired from being outside and knew that I had another big day on Saturday coming up.

Saturday, Beezy and I drove to Lathrop, California so he could run in the Mud Run. Beezy and three members of his family decided to do the race together. I went to take photos and throw support at them. It was crazy hot and the course had tons of obstacles. Then of course you have to be in mud. All of them finished and that's a great accomplishment! Goooo Beezy!

Words Wouldn't Be Enough

Its amazing how life can lead you to someone.

In August 2012, I moved to Sacramento. My situation then was very different. I was already mentally done with a relationship that lasted far too long than it should have. In October I met Beezy at work. I had seen him around but hadn't really spoken to him. Then we started interacting more at work and became genuine friends. We would hang out and come over to each other's houses. We'd watch television together, eat meals together and just hang out. He'd have huge parties at his house and he'd always make sure I was going to be there. He would make it clear to me that he really liked me. Liked me for me.

I kept going on dates with people and so did he. We became best friends. I'd tell him about my days. He'd tell me about his. I'd share stories of being in West Virginia and he'd tell me about his 1349308 cousins. He'd make me laugh when I was sad. I'd try to make sure he wasn't sad. Over a year of us being friends something changed. He came over to my house one day while I was hanging out with a girl friend of mine. We asked him what he'd been up to and he said he had went on a date. I was actually surprised. It caught me so off guard. I sat on my couch, trying to control my face. You see... the whole time we'd been friends he'd never talk to me about him going out on any dates. Yeah, he'd mention dates he had been on in the past but nothing present. So when he told me he went out on a date with someone I knew I was shocked.

I had to know all the details.

When he left my house that night and when my friend left, I think I cried. I was confused because we were such good friends. I didn't want some girl coming in and taking my best friend away from. Everyone knows when your guy best friend starts dating someone the friendship takes the backseat. And then there was the fact that I thought that him telling me about the date was his way of saying he had given up on me. That he wasn't going to wait anymore for me. That he'd given up hope that we'd ever be anything more than friends.

So after that night, we kept hanging out like normal. He told me the date was just a one date. We started going to more Kings games together and Thanksgiving approached. He knew that I wasn't going to be able to go home to see family. He invited me to go to Lake Tahoe with his family and I agreed. Then my mom surprised me with a plane ticket so off to WV I went. When I came back we kept hanging out. Then the night before I left for WV in December he made a move. We had our first kiss. I was still worried about our friendship. I went home for two weeks and spent the holiday there. We'd text all day and talk and skyped a few times. It was our normal friendship but different. When I came back we became inseparable. We started hanging out everyday and I finally started calling it something more than just a friendship.

I can't imagine what I'd do without him. I don't want to imagine. He makes me happy. He makes me smile every single day. He appreciates me. He makes meals for me. He looks out for me and takes care of me. I've never had someone care for me so much besides my mother. He rubs my feet when I'm tired. He shows me so much appreciation. I just hope that I show him as much as he shows me.

I can't believe the universe brought him to me. I'm so glad that we were friends first. I'm so happy that our friendship has become stronger and that our relationship is genuine. I care so much about him. I thankful everyday that he's in my life. He's definitely my boo boo. Now and forever.
