Weekend Review

This past weekend started with a real bang. Friday night, I get home from work and Beezy had fixed my favorite dinner... Fettuccini Alfredo. I was very happy and ate way more than I should have. After dinner, I went into our bathroom that's off the master. The bedroom is set up a little odd because the wall that has our television doesn't have any power outlets so we had an extension cord plugged in that had yet to be put under the carpet. Silly me. I come out of the bathroom, flip the light out and my eyes hadn't adjusted. Needless to say, my foot got caught in the cord, I tripped and hit the ground. Now this is where it gets really interesting.

The next thing I know Beezy is on top of me touching my face trying to wake me up. Apparently, when I fell my head hit the end of the bed and I knocked myself out. Yep. Out cold! So when he heard the thump of me hitting the ground he didn't know what the noise was. He comes to the bedroom which is completely dark and finds me face down in the carpet. To say he was freaked out is an understatement. When I went down my knee apparently took a major hit cause it was very red and swollen. We even had to ice it.

After all of the excitement Friday night, Saturday was a breeze! I did wake up feeling very sore. I took it easy in the morning and sat down to take down the last of our Christmas decorations. I had taken everything down except our last tree, the Beach tree. Sadly, we wont get to see it again till next year. I'm pretty for sure Tesco was sad to see it come down because he loved sitting under and beside them.

We also went to his cousin's house and he played poker. Their kids have two tropical pet turtles that I'm obsessed with. I think they are the cutest little things! His cousin's wife was showing me everything they have to do for their glass case they live in and it's a ton of work! Because their tropical they have to keep it hot and humid so they have to spray it with water twice a day. They have to turn the lights off and on twice a day because they have differentiate night and day etc. It was a lot! I still think their super cute. I want one...

On Sunday, I went out and found my engagement party outfit! I was lucky enough to find a dress and shoes literally within 5 minutes of each other. I don't want to share my dress until the party but check out the shoes that I got to go with it...
Now it's back to another week of work!

Turtle Beach

Before I went to Hawaii, I had three things that I really wanted to do. I wanted to attend a luau, go snorkeling and see some sea turtles. Since the luau and snorkeling were both scheduled I knew the only thing that I had to seek out was the sea turtles. Since their an animal that lives in the sea, I knew it might be a little hard to find them because they don't have to show up anywhere for people. When someone in our group said they had seen some early in the morning on a beach nearby the resort, I knew we needed to go there.

We went through the gate and walked down to the beach and guess what? They didn't disappoint. The sea turtles were there and waiting for me.
Since sea turtles are a protected species, signs posted when you enter the beach tell patrons not to touch the turtles. It also tells people not to get within so many feet of them. Clearly we may have gotten a little too close but we made sure not to disturb them. These turtles didn't appear to be nesting but just resting.

We left the turtles alone on the beach and started to wade into the water. Since there was a lot of rocks around in the water we decided to stay in the parts of the water where we could walk. Neither of us was wearing our water shoes and we didn't want to risk getting our feet cut open on rock. We were caught by surprise when this guy popped up out of the water.
We realized the sea turtles were everywhere in the water. They were feeding off the algae that were on all the rocks. Once we got our fill of the sea turtles we decided to leave as not to disturb them anymore. I was so happy that I got to see them. I love sea turtles! These guys were huge.

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

The Good...

Vacation is within days. We're talking single digits. Puerto Rico here I come. I plan on having fun, laying on the beach and experiencing a new country. I can't wait! The best part about this vacation... it's not breaking the bank. Now Hawaii in the summer.. that one might. HA!

The Bad...
Remember last week when I talked about the job interview I had went on. Well I went on a second job interview. I've had two interviews in two weeks for things that would be a promotion from my current position and so far nothing. I'm not too hopeful because usually in my organization they let you know pretty quick if you got it. Sooo.. back to the grinding stone. I'm on the job hunt for something great. If anyone knows of great opportunites in Sacramento, California then let me know! I'm willing to entertain them.

The Ugly...
Let's talk about Tesco The Cat. I've never had a cat as a pet. Well recently Tesco has come to be at my house. He's a really well behaved cat. He's almost 9 years old (in human years) so he's middle aged in cat years. He doesn't claw at furniture, he uses his litter box and he just loves to be petted and given treats. There's one ugly problem about him though... he's a shedder. I'm talking major shedding. You pet him for a few minutes and you are covered in cat hair. Static cling cat hair. You can't get it off. It gets on your clothes. It covers the couch. It sticks to your skin and goes up your nose.

Well I can't deal with that. I'm a very clean person... maybe a little OCD about things being neat and clean. Hey... cleanliness is next to godliness. Anyways, Tesco has thrown a wrench in to my clean and very hairless home. So what did I do? I got online a researched the best way to stop or at least control the shedding. That's when this came into my life...
The Furminator. This thing has been a life saver. The first night that I used it, it was like a whole other cat of fur came off of him. This thing is definitely worth every single penny. If you have a dog or cat or animal with fur then invest. I got mine for half the price off of ebay. You can use it twice a week and guess what... we've met our limit for the week.

Five on Friday

1. Wednesday night Beezy and I headed to the Kings Game. They took on the Memphis Grizzlies and lost. The kings need to get it together. Its like they'll win two or three games and then lose and lose. They did announce the new stadium this week so that's something.
And then I decided to act silly at the game...

2. The week before Christmas Nike released a special edition pair of Jordan shoes. Apparently once they release shoes that's it. They become something called Dead Stock because they'll never have them out in stores again. Well... beezy really wanted these shoes. He couldn't get them in Sacramento because the stores were crazy with people. I tried to get them while I was in West Virginia since the crowds would probably be smaller. Nope! I tried and tried and no one had them and in his size. Well after scouring the internet and getting the help of friends for over a month.... I got the shoes.

3. I made a Chocolate Cream Pie for the first time. The people who ate it said that it tasted good so I hope they weren't lying.

4. I'm working on another yarn wreath. This one is for Easter. I'm also thinking of making them for every holiday coming up. I'm also thinking of making a balloon wreath. Has anyone made those or know how?

5. I've made major progress with Tesco the cat. He's finally starting to come around some when I'm in his presence. If you want to know more about Tesco you can find him on Instagram at Tescothecat.

Weekend Review

I've really been working on what I've been eating. I knew going into this year that I really wanted to focus on my eating habits and working out. I'm happy to report the past two weeks, I've been eating better. I've consumed more fruit and vegetables and got my fill of protein. I've even working out on my treadmill a few times now. Am I still eating other food that I probably shouldn't? Yep. BUT I'm eating it in less quantities and I'm aware of that.

This was a nice snack...
I've tried four different flavors of Quest Bars and this has been my favorite one so far. The Double Chocolate Chunk. It's only 160 calories, has less than 1 gram of sugar and 20 grams of protein. Now that's a protein bar people. I've also become obsessed with the song...
It seriously kept me going on the treadmill the other day. I had originally heard it at the Kings game but never knew what song it was until last week when I was in the car it came on. I love it! I always have the beat stuck in my head.

I'm still trying to make friends with this cat. His name is Tesco. I've learned if I brush him he'll at least sit there and pretend to like me.

I bought two more owls at the craft store. Beezy and I turned them into Elvis and his number one fan. Beezy did the Elvis one and I was very impressed. He portrayed him in the famous Rainfall jumpsuit.

Speaking of the Kings. I went to the Kings game on Friday night. They played the Indiana Pacers. The Kings have been on a good playing streak and they played a great game. They lost it by only a few points in overtime.
Now it's Monday and I'm already ready for the weekend! Can someone I know win the lottery and give me a million. I think I could make that last long enough!

Five on Friday

1. I tried to make a new friend this week...
His name is Tesco and he's a cat. I'm more of a small dog person but I'm branching out.

2. I crafted. Valentine's Day is right around the corner and when I saw these little guys I knew I had to get them. They come plain white and you can color them any way you want. All that's pre-determined on them is the outline of their bodies and the heart on their chest.
I can't take credit for the tux one, Beezy did that one. If you want to get your own, you can find them at the arts and crafts store, Michaels.

3. Speaking of Valentines Day, I was at Ikea last week and found these adorable heart frames...
I bought two for my foyer table and their so festive. I love them. I kind of want to go buy two more.

4. I confess... I still have a Christmas tree up. Yep. I'm decorating for Valentines Day with a tree still up. In my defense it is a beach theme tree and I do live in the warm state of California. Is that acceptable?
Does anyone else still have a tree up? Or am I the only hold out left?

5. I watched True Lies yesterday and remembered how much I love this movie.
Tom Arnold, Jamie Lee Curtis and Arnold are hilarious in it. Since Arnold is making all these re-make movies, I wish he'd do a sequel to True Lies. I know Tom Arnold is on board because I Nancy Drew'd it up all over the internet to find an article talking about how he'd be willing to do a second one as long as Arnold was on board. Get it Arnold. Get it!

Weekend Review

It all started with cake...
Since a lot of my coworkers and I actually worked on Memorial Day we decided to bring different things into work for the week. I made this chocolate cake and people seemed to really like it! I might try to bake something really different this week but since my schedule is getting pretty hectic I don't know if I'll be able to find the time. Baking is no joke!

Is anyone else obsessed with the Aztec theme going on in fashion right now? I love it! I can't get enough soooo when I saw this wedges I knew I had to have them. I've already worn them at least 4 times. And don't worry mom that's the henna tattoo I got while at the fair.
I came home on Friday to find this thing looking at me....
Totally. Freaked. Me. Out! It was just chilling in my garage acting like it owned the place. I can handle spiders and bugs. Reptiles are a different story. I can't handle them and I'm deathly afraid of snakes. I can't even think about it too much or I start to stare at the ground making sure one isn't near me. This thing just kept looking at me and we had a stare off contest while I figured out what to do. I also called my mom and panicked. I'm pretty for sure it's a helo monster but I could be wrong.

The next day was at least a little bonus because I got something good in the mail!
I've been eying these teardrop necklaces for months but never bought one because they usually range anywhere from 34.99-49.99 dollars in price and frankly that's a little too pricey for a piece of costume jewelry. When I saw his on ebay for under 8.00 dollars I jumped at the chance. It came in the mail on Friday and it's perfect!

I also worked on the outside of my house. I added some more lava rock to the front of the house in the garden/plant area. It's a slow process since I'm not made of money...
Who knew rocks could be so expensive?!? And that in a nutshell was my weekend.
