Theater Thursday

 

It's Thursday and that can only mean one thing... it's Theater Thursday! This week's featured movie is Jingle All The Way.

Arnold Schwarzenegger's holiday blockbuster hit the big screens in 1996. Howard (Schwarzenegger) is a successful business man who is overwhelmed during the holiday season. Trying to balance work and family he misses his son Jamie's karate demonstration. His wife Liz (Rita Wilson) understands that he's busy but also wants him to focus more on family definitely during the holidays. When Christmas Eve comes around Liz reminds Howard about the most important gift their son wanted... a Turboman doll.

 

When Howard realizes he never bought the doll weeks ago like he was suppose to, he must go out on Christmas Eve to find one. What he doesn't know is that TurboMan is the hottest selling item of the Christmas season. It's nearly impossible to find one and the masses are all trying to get one. When he hits his first Christmas store, he runs into a fellow dad and post office worker named Myron (Sinbad). While in line they hit it off on friendly talk but once the store doors open, they become enemies looking for the same toy.

 

As the day goes on, they both become more and more desperate to find the one item that will make their kids the happiest. They begin to really despise each other in their hunt for the doll. While Howard is out his wife and son begin to get restless with Christmas activities and begin to wonder when he's coming home. Howard not only has Marion to worry about he's got a neighbor named Ted (Phil Hartman) who's looking to move in on Liz.

Wedding Wednesday

It's Wedding Month!

We are only 11 days away from our wedding! Time has literally flown by and 13 months of planning is about to come to life. Last time I checked in on wedding plans we still had a lot to complete. Since Thanksgiving happened in the middle of our final planning we were slowed down. We also had to reach out still to some people who hadn't responded. Our final count was due to the venue and the time crunch around the holiday was hard. Luckily, we think we accounted for everyone who is coming.

Here is some things I've crossed off our to-do list:

Ordered our favor labels

Paid the final payment to our DJ

Marriage License

Booked our transportation

Picked up my dress from alterations

Final consultation with our DJ

Final consultation with our venue

 

Things that still need to get done:

Place cards (I have about 18 more to do)

Finish the Seating chart

Finish getting the favor bags/tissue paper

Buy our Toasting Flutes

Send the final payment to our florist

Get our officiant gift

Buy 2 sharpies for our guest book to get signed

Order the ring bearer/flower girl gifts

Order a white basket

Submit our final food options per table chart to our venue

 

So as you can see we still have a few things to do in the next few days. I plan on knocking all of these out by the weekend. I do not want tons of things to do the week of our wedding. I'm working all the way up till Thursday so there won't be much time for last minute errands. Ekk!!!! Let's hope it all comes together!

First Thanksgiving

This Thanksgiving, I made my very first turkey all on my own. This was also the first Thanksgiving that my fiancé and I have ever got to spend together. The last two years I've always been at home in West Virginia with my mom and he's spent it in Lake Tahoe with his family. So what do you do when you finally spend it together? Make a turkey! I limited our table to two sides since I was going to be making everything by hand.

Our Thanksgiving started Wednesday evening with preparing the turkey. I think I now understand vegetarians a little more since I had to put my hands in the turkey and rip the neck out. Gag! I also had to prepare the insides for the stuffing. I think you can tell I wasn't enjoying it from this photo.

The only thing on our table that I didn't make from scratch was the rolls. I had a lot of help from my mom though throughout the day. She was coaching me via texts and phone calls.

All in all my dinner was a success. I did learn that I need to write directions down. I also learned that I have no trivets nor do I have more than 3 matching baking dishes. Clearly hoping the wedding registry had some marked! Once Thanksgiving dinner was over we stopped by his family party and then came home. We had a very busy weekend scheduled and on Friday we skipped the Black Friday shopping and went to the movies! We saw...

Ok fine. I bought two items on the black Friday special. It was only 18.00 dollars total! I got them at H&M
