Theater Thursday

Hello all! It's Thursday so that means it's another Theater Thursday! This week we're taking a look at the movie American Dreamer
Made in 1984, American Dreamer follows Cathy Palmer (JoBeth Williams) a midwest housewife that enters and wins a writing contest on the murder/mystery books of Rebecca Ryan. The grand prize she receives is an all expense paid trip to Paris for 2 and a meet and greet with the author of the Rebecca Ryan novels.

Eager to tell her husband Kevin (James Staley) about the win & their upcoming trip she prepares a french themed meal for dinner. At dinner he informs her that he can't and won't go on the trip and that she shouldn't either. Cathy decides to go against him and leave for Paris alone.

Once in Paris, France she's involved in a hit a run and loses her memory. When she does recover it, she believes that she herself is the fictional character Rebecca Ryan. Cathy now Rebecca goes all across Paris and eventually meets up with the author of the books Alan (Tom Conti) who thinks she's mentally unwell.

Together they both stumble on a real muder mystery and must find their way out before becoming the deceased. If you've never seen it, it's a great 1980's movie. Check it out!
