Weekend Review

The rain was relentless here on Thursday, Friday and most of Saturday. On Friday morning I woke to hear water pouring in the basement. Not cool. Apparently the city's system couldn't handle the amount of water and the fact that my house is on an easement. Then the city took their sweet time getting to my house. Then proceeded to do nothing.

Saturday, the same thing keeps going on. The water is pouring into the basement and when I say pouring, we could have filled one of those pools for kids in the backyard with the water coming in. The city again didn't come to the late afternoon and did nothing to fix the problem. Sunday they finally came and worked for 2 hours. The water has finally stopped coming in but I can't use any water till Monday morning.

Since for most of the weekend, I sat around listening to the water pour into the house, I caught up on my reading and started this book...
I'm already over 200 pages in and I am loving it! I've never read anything like this before and I must say it's really good. I'm intrigued by Mr. Grey. I will have to get the second book so I can start reading so I can start it once I finish the first.

I also started watching the first season of a classic 1990's show, Family Matters.
I forgot how funny this show use to be. I'm almost done with season 1 and I'm surprised by the fact that Urkel was only in a handful of episodes that first season. I'd have to say that this was definitely one of my favorite shows growing up. It was a staple in the TGIF line up and it was always one of those shows I never missed as a kid.

Now another work week commences until I can get my two days of rest and relaxation.

I'm glad the city came and did at least a little something for you. Last time I had that type of problem, they just told me to go buy a sump pump!

I haven't read 50 Shades of Grey yet...it's on my list!

Rain and a book sounds like just what I need! There's nothing like enjoying a book - life's too short to read crappy ones!

PS I shared a story of an inspiring young lady and a related giveaway on my blog, I hope you're able to stop by and have a look :) http://vanishaslife.blogspot.com.au/2012/05/connection-to-timor-little-to-big.html

Ugh! So sorry about the basement and the city! Blah. Not.cool.

And I was SO intrigued with Grey, too! I'm on book three and having issues getting as into it. It's good, don't get me wrong, but for some reason, I loved books one adn two more and couldn't put them down. Book three is moving more slowly for me...

I'm reading 50 Shades of Grey right now too! I'm not that far into it, but I'm intrigued. I don't think the actual writing is very good, but the story line is compelling. I'm eager to read more!
