He's Still The King

I'm talking about Elvis Presley.

He is the King of Rock n' Roll. I've been a big fan of his music, his charitable acts and his style for as far back as I can remember. One Christmas when I was about 11 or 12 years old, every gift I got was something related to Elvis from his movies, to keychains to clothing. It was an all Elvis theme year! Last year's Christmas,  I had deja vu when I got a few great Elvis gifts from my friends. I was pretty excited about getting the lamp.
In the past couple of years, I've been really fortunate enough to visit Elvis' home: Graceland.
If you've never been there it's definitely a unique experience. It's described as the Graceland Mansion so expect grand. His grand was a little different though. The house has been preserved what it was like when Elvis was alive all the way down to the carpet in the kitchen. The nicknacks, the wallpaper, the televisions is all as it was when Elvis lived there. It's like walking back into time. Was other people's homes the way his was back in the 1960's and 70's? Probably not but that's why he was the King. He walked to the beat of his own drummer.

In 2011, I attended my very first Elvis Week. I went to every ticketed event sponsored by Elvis Presely Enterprises. It was a jam packed week and an experience that can compare to no other.

In 2012 I even made a video to try to get to Elvis Week 2012 but sadly I wasn't able to attend. I had to move across the country for work. Hopefully, I can make it to the 2013 week!

Now why am I talking about Elvis so much right now? It's not his birth week and Elvis week has already passed for this year. It's because it's almost the Christmas season at Graceland! Every year they decorate the house they way Elvis did when he was alive. And if you know me or you've been reading here for awhile then you know that I'm a HUGE fan of Christmas decorations and the holiday season. So it would only be natural for me to want to make another pilgramage to Graceland to see the holiday decor.

However, I now live 2,600 miles away from Memphis. I'll be home for the Christmas holiday and all I can think about is that it would be great to be able to go to Tennessee and see Graceland decorated for Christmas. I'll be somewhat closer in West Virginia but I just don't know how I can financially swing it. I've got presents to buy! Oh, how I'd love to go there and see the trees and walk down the same halls that the kind did. Maybe I can make it happen? Hopefully!

You and my aunt should hang out, she LOVES Elvis. I remember hanging out at her place a lot as a kid and although I don't have quite the enthusiasm that you two do I do have a special place in my heart for him.

That would be great if you are able to go and see it for Christmas. I think you should get a Christmas tree and dedicate it just to Elvis and deorate it with elvis stuff and like how they decorate graceland.

How sad is it that I don't really know anything about Elvis or his music? More than sad. Pathetic! I need to change that!
