Theater Thursday

It's Thursday and around here that can only mean one thing. It's Theater Thursday! What does that mean? Well every Thursday, I feature a movie that's out on dvd and post about it here! Join in if you want and post a movie that you love too!

This week's featured movie is, MILK

I hadn't watched this movie until recently and it was amazing. Sean Penn portrays Harvey Milk, a San Francisco City Supervisor. Not only was Milk a City Supervisor, he was the first openly gay elected official in the city. Leading over the famous Castro District and fighting for the equal rights of everyone, Harvey sadly only saw the age of 48.

Since Milk is based on the true story of Harvey Milk, I'm not giving anything away. Sadly after only less than a year in office Harvey was assassinated. His legend lives on and changed the way many people viewed homosexual relationships, equal rights and the city of San Francisco.

Milk follows Harvey through the 1970's fighting for rights, trying to get elected and his untimely death. I'd have to say, Sean Penn deserved every award he received because he truly became Milk.

I enjoyed this movie too. The ending was so sad, especially since it happened in real life.
