The trip was a present for my husbands birthday and he has always wanted to catch a fish at the market. He has talked about how much he would like to do that for almost two years. I knew I had to make that happen for him. So how do you go about catching a fish at the famous Pike Place Fish Market? Well... you go to the market. The fish mongers are standing all around the fish wearing their gear. They are there to help sell you the perfect seafood. You tell them that you want to catch a fish. To do so you'll need to purchase a fish. So we chose some salmon. The typical salmon is anywhere from 4-5 pounds and you pay for your fish by the pound. Once you pick out your fish they get you behind their counter and the fish monger will throw you the fish to catch. They'll alert the crowd and the other guys that you've chosen your fish and you are ready to catch!
Once you've got your fish, they will box it up for you and either ship in anywhere in the United States or they'll give you a 48 cold box. We chose the cold box and they delivered it to our hotel and then we just checked it in with the airline. Super easy and the fish was fine!
Once we were done catching fish. We strolled around the market just like Tom Hanks and Rob Reiner in Sleepless in Seattle.
We saw everything there was to see inside the market. We loved it! I wish I could have bought of some the beautiful flowers. They were so fresh and seriously cheap! But I knew that I'd have to carry them through the airport and that they wouldn't travel easily or well. Maybe next time!
