It's time for a major update. I've been holding out on everyone. I was waiting for a few things to happen or not happen before I updated but here it goes...
My uncle Kenneth and his wife Amy are expecting! They've been married since 2005 and had dated a few years before tying the knot. We found out last week and I am extremely excited for them. I want to babysit for them hardcore and that scares me because I realize how much I want to have a baby one day in my life.
The interview for the radio job. I rocked it. I thought I did great. I walked out of that building thinking that it was one of the best interviews that I had ever done. I had a feeling that they really liked me. I thought it felt natural and a right fit. Um... apparently not. It's been over two weeks and I haven't heard a peep. The only thing that holds me back from being sad about it and still holding to hope that I wasn't wrong is the fact that they haven't hired anyone so far for the position. Let's forget that whole fact that I have no experience in radio. Haha!
Remember the goals I made for the new year? Well so far I've been on target! I started with 5 credit cards needing to be paid off. Now I'm down to 3 and I've almost got one of those done so soon it'll be down to 2. I've also been saving money and it's going straight to my Buy A House Fund.
Last week I had entered a contest to win a trip to Graceland (because hello, everyone knows I love Elvis) and a stay at the famous Heartbreak Hotel. Well Monday, I found out I won! So guess who'll be making another pilgrimage to Memphis... ME!
Speaking of buying a house... it's hard to buy a house when you have no idea what city you'll be living in. Yeah... we'll get into that one later.

Have you called the radio station at all to inquire about the position? It's a good way to show you're definitely still interested and to push yourself forward in their minds again!
Congrats on getting those credit cards paid off! I only have one credit card but it's got a lot on it and I can only slowly make payments on it right now. It's going to take forever to pay off and that makes me sad.
Oh and congrats on winning that contest! That is awesome for you!
I have total faith that you might still get the job!! Fingers crossed. And way to go on the credit cards - that is HIGHLY impressive!! Congrats to your Uncle and his wife!
Happy overload!!!! Congrats on the new baby coming your way #1, and holy crap you won! That is so awesome.
I recently had a kick ass interview too. I seriously thought they were in love. Until I got an interview 1.5 weeks later and they skipped me. LAME. I may have cried. lol....but seriously, don't let the fact that it's taking a while stress you. As far as I'm concerned no news is good news.
Congrats about the baby!
And paying off the debt that is HUGE!
yay!! I am so glad you won what a cool trip that will be!!
And if you need someone to go with you..lol I am just saying..
Its all about the interview and I am SO proud of you for rocking it and that is all that matters!
That's so awesome that you are meeting your goals! How awesome that you are going to Memphis again. I've yet to go there and see Graceland so I'm a bit jealous. :)
Sounds like you have so many positive things going on in your life. So happy for you.
As for the interview, a lot of places are taking a long time to hire people so maybe they are just taking their sweet ole time. If you don't get it at least you have this amazing interview experience.
congrats on winning the contest!
I love all this news! you deserve allllll of it and more!! Keep the updates coming! :)
Radio is uber tough! I worked in the industry for close to three years. My company (nationwide!) was under a hiring freeze and salaries were cut. Radio is a great and fun place to work, but I had to eventually quit so I could pay my bills. I do hope you get the job but I also am just providing a word of caution. Maybe it's good they aren't calling you! :)
Lots of great news! Happy for you! Still hoping you hear something back from the radio job!
congrats on winning the baby, trip and with the credit cards! also, people do not call you back these days about your interviews! i irks me to no end! you should call them to see where they are at, that's what i gotta do too. ...and i want a house and a baby too!
So frustrating to not hear back about a job, huh? But it still might happen--and in the meantime, you have lots of other things to be excited about. A trip, a baby, and paying off credit cards? Sounds GREAT to me. :)
Woohoo - congrats to them on the baby!!
Great job on the credit card debt! I'm working on the same thing. If I keep going the way I am I will have ZERO credit card debt by January. I'm pumped!
Keep you chin up about the radio position, you never know - it's a good sign they haven't hired anyone yet!
I bet you were so excited about winning! And yay for your uncle and his wife.
That's awesome that you won the contest. I'm still just excited that you got an interview. Maybe there is still a chance.
that is awesome! I am so happy that you won... I wish I would win a trip to there. Take lots of pics for me so I can see how much fun you had.
Aw, I hope you hear from them soon!
I just got super excited because I sent in a GREAT application to this job I was SO qualified for and I ended up not even getting an interview. HEARTBREAK.
Yay memphis! try to fit in a trip to the soul museum. It is AWESOME.
Awesome news!!!!
Well, go call the radio station and make sure. It shows that you're still interested. If they say no, at least you know for sure and don't have to think about it anymore.
Nice work on the credit cards! So impressive!
and congrats to your family on their new addition:)
Awe,that is such good news about the baby and your credit cards! Have fun in Graceland!
Congrats on the new baby, credit cards, and winning the contest!! Yay!!!
Holy updates!! Congrats on the new baby coming, and on winning a trip to Graceland!
You are having some damn good luck girl! :)
Maybe give the radio station a call?? It sure couldn't hurt and would show initiative on your part!
I got so excited for you when I saw your status update on FB! I can only imagine how excited you must have been to win that trip!!
Yeah for all the good news in your life. Now as for that interview..as someone who does some hiring..give a call back, a very polite one to inquire if the position has been filled. Can't hurt and shows you are very interested in the position!
Hope the radio thing works out! That would be so fun! And that's so cool about winning that giveaway. Can't wait to hear all about that!
YAY for the uncle! Yay for the credit cards and especially YAY for the contest winning! That's stellar!
wow, what a week for you! that's so cool you won that Graceland contest, i always enter little travel contests and hope and wish and lust after winning!
i'm sorry to hear about the radio job :( did you send them a thank you note or email after the interview? i know that can always make a really good impression. i think you should call to follow up. don't wait for them!
Congrats on the win for Graceland!! woohoo!!! :) Sorry about the job thing. Seriously though.. People are NOT in a hurry. It took me almost two months from my first interview to my first day at my current job. It can be annoying. So don't lose hope yet! And if they hired someone else, then they missed out on a fantabulous chick! Way to go on the credit cards!!!! Hell yes! And I am SO with you on buying a house.. *heavy sigh* I want to so badly... I feel like I pay rent and student loans and my check is gone at the first of the month. It's like I seriously just wave goodbye to it-no equity in a home, no nothing... Blah. That said, if something breaks, I dont deal with it. Always a bonus. *shrugs*
And CONGRATS about the new addition in your family coming soon!!!!!!
I would def. follow up with the radio station... just to let them know you're still around, still wondering ;) After all, you got the interview via an aggressive Twitter attack... keep being aggressive! haha :) Congrats on the new family member, and winning the awesome trip!
That's such a cool thing to win! That's awesome. I hope it's even more fantastic than your last trip there! AND you've paid off almost 3 credit cards? That's hard work paying off...pun not intended.
On the job at the radio station, if they had applicants from other cities, it may take a few weeks to get everyone interviewed. Also, while you may not hear the voice on-air, there may be someone hired for the job, some station contracts won't let you work on-air for a certain amount of time after leaving.
