The Mecca of Skanks

Once I left work today I was on a mission. I have a crazy schedule this week and I'm off on Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by 7 days of work. This means I need to get a ton of things done before Thursday. The first stop was the DMV.

I walk in this place and I instantly realized that this was the mecca for skanky people. It was literally the mother ship calling them home. The place probably had at least 75 people in there sitting and waiting. Out of the 75, I'd say maybe 5 (including myself) people, had on clean clothing, with no holes and combed hair. I mean really...these people looked like they had come out of the wood work. Was it this bad there 5 years ago when I went to renew my license then?!?!?

Since my last post, I've decided...drumroll please.....to go to North Carolina. No matter what may or may not happen, things will either get straightened out or I'll get closure. So it's a win/win situation. I do however, appreciate every single comment and email that I got regarding the situation. It helped me so much yesterday when I was upset.

PS: I have so much to do and get done before I leave next Wednesday for NC.

I need to go to the DMV too. Unfortunately, since I work M-F it makes it difficult to go without taking off works. That is definitely one big benefit of having weekdays instead of weekends off.

And I think if you want to go to NC, then you should go!

OH my! I was so in the DMV today. what's up with that? Do other "nice regular" people NOT go to the DMV??? I was having those same thoughts then I sit there thinking that I'm a bad person b/c maybe Mr and Mrs Skank can't help it. ha ha. so I just played on my blackberry and ignored everyone and made NO eye contact.

HAH! I love the comment about the mothership calling them home!!

I support whatever decision you think is best. Keep real expectations and most importantly, try to have some fun -- it is a vacation after all!

I always see the strangest people at the DMV also. Its no surprise to me when the employees are curt or talk down to me, even though I'm clearly not a skank, as you would say.

I'm glad you're following your heart. As painful as the trip may or may not be, at least you'll know. And that's half the battle.

Stay Strong!

I totally agree, there are some strange people in the DMV every time I go! That and the social security office, when I had to change my last name after getting married, WOW it was SCARY! I was so glad Jon was there with me!

Good luck this weekend! I'll be thinking about you. Keep your head up! and along with everyone else.... Have a good time either way!!

You can't pay me enough to go to the DMV. I renew online any chance I get! Ewwww...it doesn't matter which one you go to either, they're all bad.

Our DMV is the same way. I had to go two months ago to renew my license and it was kind of scary. =/

Hope you have an amazing time in NC!!! :)

I actually like going to the DMV. I feel like a supermodel there compared to all the other nasty people. LOL. But I'm too afraid to sit on the chairs or touch anything. I don't wanna get hepatitis or something.
