Theater Thursday

Wow, it's Thursday already?!?! Well I guess that means...it's Theater Thursday! This week I'm featuring the movie Gigi.

Now, I know some of you are probably like what?!? I've never heard of this movie. I've been watching it since I was a little kid and I love it. Well... Gigi, is a musical, an Oscar winning musical from 1958. It's filmed and set in Paris, France. It follows a young girl Gigi as she turns into a woman. Gigi's family is lower middle class, yet they have a friend of the family named Gaston, who is very rich. He comes over weekly and visits with them, bringing treats as well.

Throughout the years of friendship with the family he's come to know Gigi and her grandmother (who raises her). Gaston is well known in the tabloids of the time to be a playboy. He's always seen at parties and other high social events.

Gigi becomes required to visit her aunt everyday after school to be groomed into woman hood. Her aunt has plans for Gigi, she wants her to secure the family in money and stature. Gigi never thinks of things like this and has no idea what her family is asking of her.

This movie is very good and I highly recommend it to anyone. Beware though, it is a true musical! There is a lot of singing. It's also very romantic and funny! It also has a very famous parisian in it. Check it out if you get time, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Argh! For some reason your text layout is not being shown and is making it very difficult to read! Do you see that on your end or is it just my computer not loading your page right?

So funny you reccomend this movie... I have been watching it with my Grandma ever since I was litte. It is Grandma's favorite movie! Over the years I know she has worn out at least 3 or 4 videos and she is on her 2nd DVD (due to my daughter's facination of that shiny little disk).

Great movie though!
