Jackpot!

Did anyone else see the story over the weekend about the man who won the Powerball Jackpot? I'm sorry but I have to talk about this.

Why is it that when someone hits it big with these lottos that they always seem how do I say this? kinda ... skanky. It's never some woman/man standing up there in neatly pressed dockers and name brand shirt accepting the big money check. It's always some family or person who has about 5 bucks in their bank account, works a lower-end income job (not that there's anything wrong with that) and usually has either a major adult acne problem or missing/green teeth. Think about it...

Why is this? I wonder what percentage of the past winners have had less than 100 bucks in their account, the day they won.

In other news, it's been raining so much here I feel like the animals are going to start lining up two by two shortly. I knew I should have invested in some cute rubber boots for the rain season!

The reason you likely won't see someone in a suit is because when people who have more than $100 in their account when they win will hire a lawyer to handle everything before they ever claim their money.

Or they just don't play and put the money in savings instead.

LOL I was thinking the same thing. Then I wonder why the heck they were buying lottery tickets with the money and THEN I think crapola maybe I should go buy one with the last of my five bucks and start wearing hoochy skirts and ripped levis.

Oh Yeahhhh

Maybe they are just the people who need it most. They could be one day away from being homeless and this was God's way of stepping in. You never know..

Haha I wondered the same thing when I saw that story!! It's true, they always look like that!

So, I have to say that my gramma's dermatologist won the lottery a few years ago. The man already owned 3 homes across FL and one the 40mil jackpot! It was crazy b/c people were pretty pissed that rich guy won the lottery.

I posted a picture of that guy missing jeeeze I think 3 teeth on my FB. Did you see it? oiy... what a great smile on that one huh??

I'm right there with ya... WHAT ABOUT ME!? I got to the 711 maybe 10 mins late to buy a ticket last weds. Nikki told me, "no you can buy up till 8". NOooo you can't it's only 7 (here)! That coulda been me! :) well, with all my teeth, of course.

Probably because they spend all of their money trying to win the lottery! haha. I agree- its kind of insane.

Lol. I think those are the people that need it the most! To clean up their act. I am more annoyed when its someone who is 99 yrs old knowing there are others like these people with less than $100 to their names that could really use the money.

I am still crossing my fingers I win when I have one of those weeks! Haha.

Happy Monday :)

So... I will totally prove you wrong. My dad's cousin won the lottery. It was a long time ago. But nonetheless, I promise you that he and his family are totally awesome and definitely not skanky. I don't know the whole story but yeah... if only I could have his luck!

Well have you ever heard that the lottery is a tax on stupidity? Like why else would you spend your hard earned cash on lottery tickets!? It's bc you don't know any better. Sad but true!

I mean I have played before, more like the "well the jackpot is huge, let's buy a ticket for fun"...but those people are like serious as heart attacks about it!

I think the comment I just left was under my work youtube account that my boss set up -- woops!

Because they are the ones who take their whole paycheck to the casino straight to the gas station to purchase a lotto ticket. I rarely get a ticket and when I do it is a $1 one! HA! I am so cheap!

I agree, it is really weird!

Good observation... pretty true.

And I really need to win the lotto. Hmmm... perhaps I need to start dressing down and get my skank on. Just an idea.

You are hilariously correct.

it's probably the people who have a gambling problem to begin with! they are spending the money they have each week on buying their lottery ticket. i definately do not have a problem but do like my scratch-off tickets time-to-time! haha

Oh my, I haven't heard about the latest one, but I totally know what you're talking about. Statistically people who win the lottery will end up going broke because they don't know how to handle their money.

Hmmm. That's an interesting point. All the Lotto winners should be more like Hurley from Lost.

hahahaha. love it. i'm going to knock my front teeth out and hope i win next!!

I think part of it is the media knows what people want to see. Do you really want to see some millionaire who wins the lottery and doesn't really care because they already have tons of money. In that situation you're going to wind up thinking what a waste of a prize. But at least when it's someone who looks a little skanky, its a rags to riches story. And I'm guess its a lot easier to go someone poor on tv than a multi-millionaire

Ha ha, totally true. I guess then it's a compliment that I never won - I'm not skanky enough!

I love your blog and wanted to recommend it to my readers, so I gave you a blog award! Check it out on my blog.

Cheers,
Bea

PS - it's still not too late to get cute rain boots - and online shopping is a great way to pass time when the weather is ugly! :)

I think I read somewhere that a majority of the lotto players are in lower socioeconomic brackets...sounds stereptypical and slightly prejudiced, but that's what I thought the research said...I could be wrong...
