A Big Ole' Boycott

(The Donald feels my pain)
With Valentines Day on the horizon, I keep seeing everyone talk about love and this years upcoming Valentines. Well I say, BLAH! I don't think I've ever had one memorable, earth shattering Valentines day. For real. I'm really thinking back here and coming up with all bad Valentines Day memories. Let's recap a few shall we? We shall...

The 1st eventful Valentines day that I can actually remember, I was in 7th grade. I went to a private christian academy for middle school and they were holding a dinner for couples. Well a boy who by the way was at least in 9th grade (the school was all grades) asked me to go. I got ready, we went and from what I can remember I found the person sitting next to me more interesting than my actual date. The one photo that was taken was over exposed so I didn't even get a keepsake from the night. FAIL

The 2nd eventful Valentines day was a few years ago. Myself and two other girls spent it together. We got dressed up and the plan was to go to dinner and then head to a dance place. Well one person took forever and when I say forever I mean like foreverrrr (think the Sandlot) to get ready. Needless to say we ended up at a fast food joint because by the time we went to every restaurant the wait was 2 hours. Plus someone couldn't wait to go dancing. The night dragged on and all I wanted to do was go to sleep and go home. FAIL

The 3rd Valentines day massacre came when I was in a serious relationship. I curled my hair (not an easy task), we went out to eat and then he wanted to go to some pool table place. Well it turns out he didn't want there to play pool it was because they were having some kind of girls performance there. I can't remember what it was but it was along the lines of a wet t-shirt contest. Well I found this out about midway through the evening and was livid. I got my coat, walked out and started walking home. Only after his friend (who had shown up) told him it probably wasn't the greatest idea that I walk home alone, did he follow. Gosh, he was such a loser. FAIL

And finally for my last night Valentines Day memory nightmare lane, the fact that I can't remember at all what I did this time last year for the "holiday". I was single by then so who knows. I probably worked and then came home to my pajamas and watched tv. FAIL

This year on Valentines Day I won't be working but... I have no plans, no valentine and no motivation. I think that calls for a boycott.

It's never really been that great of a day for me either. I think we've only ever spent one together and I can't remember what we did so it must not have been that great.

Last year I was thrown off the back of a four wheeler into a waist deep mud pit. FAIL

Girl, you and I both know that Valentine's day is FOR THE BIRDS and I'm a married person saying that. Guess what we're going to do this year? Probably a pizza and then putting our baby to bed at 9 and then that usually lasts till 11:30..so we may also get some recorded TV. At lesat this year you can watch the Bachelor and realize that you're WAY better off than 90% of the girls there. I'd make it an even 100%, but 10% at least are un-crazy and get to travel.

I used to LOVE V-day and I would be sad any time I didn't have someone to celebrate it with.

Now... eh, the hubs and I will probably go to dinner or something. But otherwise, no big celebrations.

The most fun I had on a Valentine's day was when a group of my girls and I all went out. We try to keep that tradition alive even if we all have boyfriend/husbands now.

Valentine's Day can sometimes suck. I went on a triple date once in college with two of my friends and one of the girl's dates took me to the side and asked if he could borrow money from me to pay for his date's dinner. He definitely FAILED v-day that year.

Oh dear...you do deserve a year of! Send yourself some flowers, buy some ice cream and celebrate you!

I don't have great Valentine's memories either and I am MARRIED!! My husband doesn't believe in Valentine's Day, he says that we don't need a holiday to tell people we love them (which I don't blame him). So, I say oh well, I will work out and eat chocolate and celebrate me!

I remember one of my best Vday memories was one year my bestie and I were both single, and we went out to dinner on Vday. It was so much fun! We had a blast! I have lots of pics from that day, it was really amazing! We even exchanged gifts! My point is, you don't need a man to have a great time on Vday! I wish I lived near you, and we'd totally go out for Vday!

I never liked this day. However, I remember what I did last year. Went to see V-day with a friend. Both single, both blah-moody...perfect. This year? Come to think of it, I may actually go to the movies again. lol alone this time. :( Fail! Let's boycott! ;)

Foreverrrrr, love it! And what the what what? He had a date and wanted to go to there? And he even let you start walking home at all? Oh man, he is a loser. Valentines day isn't anything special. We don't usually do anything too exciting. One year we drove up to a hot springs, that was fun. Just get a girl bestie and go someplace like that!

Hahaha! I've learned that anything you build up ends up being a bust. I'm celebrating this weekend...but it's mostly bc my husband is available for the first time in 2 months. I've always enjoyed Vday- but I think it's because my middle name is Valentine. However, I don't believe in buying in to all the hype. We don't do crazy gifts or anything. I'm jealous you aren't working on Valentines day.

Oh yeah, and I was a waitress all through college so I was usually serving horrible tippers that only take their girl out to eat on Vday and her Bday. Jerks.

That's my Vday rant, yours was better put!

OMG the third one is the worst! I don't think I've EVER had a good valentines day (and I've been in relationships everytime)- and I think that makes me hate the holiday. I told Ryan I didn't want to do anything because 1. we're broke 2. you can't get your hopes up that way!

I say do something fabulous for yourself. Make a spa appointment. Go shopping for something special you've been wanting. Bring home some wine and chick flicks and invite the girls over.

I am not huge on Vday either. I've never had a boyfriend on Valentine's day...until last year.

Inspector Climate feels like he NEEDS to do something but he knows that I am not particularly fond of useless gifts...last year he took me away for the weekend to his parents holiday house. And this year he is going to cook me dinner.

I am not a huge Valentines Day person either, and I am married. It usually falls during the week and work gets in the way. Plus, I just don't believe in spending lots of money on stuff that can easily be tossed out!

I love Valentine's Day mostly for the memories of elementary school parties where we exchanged cards by way of handmade mailboxes! I also had a friend who's mom made some killler eggrolls... and yes, I meant for there to be 3 l's. Valentine's Day = eggrolls... Mmmmm!

Even though I'm an old married lady these days, I've always thought Valentine's Day was more about friends and family than anything. A few years ago, four of my girlfriends and I got a hotel room in our hometown and got bombed! We thought we were so sly by "sneaking" our alcohol to the hot tub but the front desk guy recognized us as his girlfriend's aquaitance and pretended he didn't notice. Valentine's Day to me is just an opportunity to celebrate the love I have for family and friends.

It's wayyyy too much hype for just one day! I'm married and don't do anything very special...make a nice meal and tell each other we love each other - not much different from any other night! I'd rather get flowers and a dinner date on a night when prices are jacked up and restaurants are packed. I've had fun Valentine's Days but they were days spend with my friends and were just an excuse to do something different.

This is the first year I truly don't care about the holiday. I've been reading posts and seeing ads and I have no emotional response whatsoever. I just. don't. care.

I've never spent a Valentine's with a guy, even if I was actually dating one at the time. Even my long-term ex and I never happened to be in the same place on the day...and we were together over 4 years! Ha!

Have to say, I never dislike the holidy until I got to college, and it was so DARN DEPRESSING being around girls when they were single on Valentines. ;)
