Theater Thursday

Theater Thursday the Christmas Edition is in the home stretch! December is the big month so the big Christmas movies are coming out! This week we're looking at the cult classic A Christmas Story
Made in 1983, Peter Billingsley stars as little Ralphie Parker. All Ralphie wants for Christmas is a Red Ryder air gun. He writes a school report on it, asks his parents for it and makes the trip to see Santa in hopes of getting it. However, everywhere he turns he hears the now famous saying, "You'll shoot your eye out!"

Ralphies' holiday season isn't just filled with thoughts of his Red Ryder but also dealing with a bully, his other presents, cussing in front of his dad and his friend's mishaps. Plus, this is the year the Parker family gets introduced to Christmas Duck!

This movie has so many references it's too much to even write about! A few years ago, 1997 to be exact,Turner Broadcasting System started a 24 hour marathon of A Christmas Story. It
originally started out on TNT but later switched over to TBS. It usually begins the night before on Christmas Eve at 8:00p.m. eastern standard time. Running through till Christmas evening.

Fun Fact: When the movie was first released it opened to very mixed reviews, most on the negative side. After being in theaters for a short time, the movie disappeared and years later began playing on HBO before finding it's home on cable tv.

Fun Fact 2: A sequel was made in the 1990's called My Summer Vacation.

If you've never seen this movie then you're surely missing out! Don't worry...you've got 24 hours this year to catch up on all you've been missing out on.

Don't forget to check your local listings to see when it starts this year in your town and on what local channel number.

PS: I couldn't help but share the pink bunny costume and Leg     Lamp. Who wouldn't want either one of those??!?!!?

I don't think I have ever watched this movie from beginning to end in one sitting. It's always bits and pieces I catch on tv on Christmas day! :)

Seriously one of my favorite Christmas movies ever. When I heard that my husband had never seen it, I bought a copy and shipped it to Iraq just so he wouldn't miss out on one of my favorite parts of Christmas!

Can you believe that as much as this one has been played on cable I've NEVER seen it? I know, I know. I can hardly believe that one myself. ;)

I have to say this is one of my LEAST favorite movies of all times.
But I can't fault you for enjoying it or featuring it for that matter either. I still love you! :)

This one is the best... it's one that my family watches every year and like Mrs. Smith said above, the family can act out pretty much the entire flick!

We actually watched this at Thanksgiving & I can't wait to get back to them for Christmas.

Good pick.
