Theater Thursday

Guess what time it is! It's Theater Thursday!

This week's featured movie is Rhinestone! Never heard of it? Yeah, a lot of people haven't.

In 1984, Rhinestone hit the theaters featuring Dolly Parton as country singer Jake. To get out of her contract with sleazy boss Freddie, she makes a bet that she can turn any New Yorker into a country singing sensation. The man just happens to be Nick (Sylvester Stallone) a NYC cabbie with absolutely no singing ability.

Quickly Jake learns that she's got her work cut out for her and takes Nick to her hometown in Tennessee. Trying to teach him in a week to sing country music turns out to be harder than she thought. Nick being the fish out of water, begins to love country music and his teacher. Jake realizes she's getting more than she bargained for.
This movie is hilarious. Sylvester Stallone actually sings. Dolly's songs are great and the movie is really cute. If you've never seen it, get it!
Best part... Have a movie you love? Great! Post about it and then come back here and link up. That way other's can find great movies that are available on dvd.

Nope, never heard of it. Maybe I'll pick it up one of these days.

Lately I've been going to the movies a lot, so I posted my recent review. Not out on DVD yet, but a good flick nonetheless! :)
