The Year of Reading

When I entered the 2010 year, I only made a few goals for myself. One of them was to read more books. I think I exceeded this goal. In 2010 I read a total of 43 books. I'm currently 100 pages into book 44 but I know there's no way I'll finish it with the busy holiday schedule over the next week.

Out of all those books, I'd have to say my favorite read in 2010 was: The Hunger Games
I was mesmerized by this book. I just couldn't put it down, in fact I read it in one day. I keep hearing that there's going to be a movie and I can't wait!
The worst book I read: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
I know, I know. People loved it but I thought it was the slowest book ever. It took everything in me to keep reading. I thought it started out slow and ended slow. I read the 2nd book in the series and liked it a whole lot more but still didn't think it was great. I'll probably read the 3rd book in the series in 2011.

The best new (personal) find: Sherryl Woods. Her books are amazing. No matter which series you decide on, they're all great! My favorites have been The Sweet Magnolia Series
Her books are usually light reads but they make you think about relationships in friendship and love. These books got me through the spring and summer. However, they made a little cynical on the love front.

Another great find for me was the Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries.
Yep, I had never read any of these before but I love them! You can basically read one a night and they're classic and fun. It's like watching a little scooby doo mystery but with people and reading.

Here's my complete list for books read this year: Mommywood by Tori Spelling, Dead And Gone by Charline Harris, Dear John by Nicolas Sparks, Official Book Club Selection by Kathy Griffin, The Lucky One by Nicolas Sparks, A Touch of Dead by Charline Harris, True Believer by Nicolas Sparks, At First Sight by Nicolas Sparks, The 8th Confession by James Patterson, Hothouse Orchid, Kisser by Stuart Woods, San Diego by J Smith, The Choice, The Girl of his Dreams by Nicolas Sparks, Feels Like Family, Welcome to Serenity, Home in Carolina, Sweet Tea at Sunrise by Sherryl Woods, Amazing Gracie, Slice of Heaven, HoneySuckle Summer by Sherryl Woods, Dead in the Family by Charline Harris, Uncharted terriTori by Tori Spelling, Lucid Intervals by Stuart Woods, Mending FencesThe Inn at Eagle Point, Flowers on Main, Stealing Home, Seaview Inn by Sherryl Woods, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire by Steig Larrson, The Mournful Teddy, The Clockwork Teddy by John Lamb, While the Clock Ticked, The Tower Treasure, The Secret of the Old Mill, The Mystery of Cabin Island, What Happened at Midnight by Franklin Dixon, The Secret of the Old Clock by Katherine Keene, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, The Vampire Diaries: The Awakening & The Struggle by L.J. Smith, Elvis & Me by Priscilla Presley, Meet Me In Manhatten by Judith Arnold and currently Hard to Hold by Julie Leto

I've heard GREAT things about Hunger Games! I'm adding it to my book list now!
As for Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, I think I'm the only one who will agree with you on that. I didn't make it past Chapter 2. Then again, I started reading it when I was on my cruise so I was definitely distracted by fun. I think I'll give it another go and see if I change my mind.

I asked for Hunger Games for Christmas :)

Your book list is great! I made the same goal last year, but i don't think I met it - i read longer books this year. One thing I did do, was expand the types of reads - like, I read MLK's autobiography, then read a couple of best sellers, just really switched it up a lot. Last year i read a crap ton, but i whirled through the entire Nicholas Sparks collection - that's what boosted the number of books i read. I'm not sure what my goal will be this year! :D Happy Reading!

You rocked this goal! I thoroughly enjoy reading, but I don't have much time to do it. I'd like to read more in 2011. =)

Gah, I think I may get one more book in this year, which would put me up to 39. Bummer since last year I read 41.

I so want to read The Hunger Games. I have two people ahead of me at the library waiting for it BUT my brother may have gotten me the series for Christmas. Either way I can't wait to read it!

I agree that the second tattoo girl book was better. I have heard a lot about this Hunger Games book. I might need to check it out.

43? Wow, that's an awesome amount of books! For 2011 I want to keep track of all the books I read and clean out my bookshelves a bit.

I LOVED the Hunger Games! One of the items on my 101 in 1001 list is to read 101 books. If you are looking for book suggestions let me know!

I loved The Hunger Games too! As for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, I haven't read it yet. I do have a copy, and my dad is after me to read it. But it really just doesn't seem like the type of book I'd enjoy. But I do think at some point I will probably read it!
