Theater Thursday

It's Thursday and that means it's time for another edition of Theater Thursday! This week I'm featuring a movie I recently watched and loved... Dark Places. If you have or haven't read the book do so! The movie is a wonderful addition to the book.

Charlize Theron stars as Libby Day, the sole survivor in the massacre of her own family. Libby was only a small girl when she witnessed the death of her mother and sisters. Believing it was the result of a Satanic cult Libby testifies in court against her own brother Ben who was blamed for the deaths. Ben was found guilty and has been in jail now for 30 years. Libby has stayed in Kansas and even though it's been 30 years still remains haunted by that lone night that changed her life forever.

Libby who doesn't have the greatest social skills finds it hard to support herself. Having just found out that her funds have finally been depleted she accepts an offer to talk about the night of the murders to a group of amateur investigators who call themselves The Kill Club. When she realizes they want to free Ben by claiming his innocence she wants nothing to do with it. The promise of more money is the only thing that keeps her involved. Now forced to bring up painful memories from her childhood past Libby starts to have a large amount of anxiety and nightmares.

Libby starts investigating the case herself and quickly learns that memories she has of that night might not be really what it seems. Only Libby can shed light on a case that has set untouched for 30 years. Is Ben really innocent? If so then who destroyed her family?

Sounds like a good movie, I've already put it on my list of movies to watch.
