Wedding Toss

Our wedding was non stop action and fun! Before we cut our cake we had a few items to toss out to the crowd. The first being my bouquet. Now granted I didn't throw my actual bouquet. It's currently sitting in our guest bedroom all dried out waiting to go into a shadow box. Our florist made an extra one to toss to my single gal pals.

I don't know why but I was extremely nervous that I was only going to have about 5 girls standing there to catch my bouquet. Boy was I wrong! I didn't realize we knew so many single ladies. The floor was packed with women ready to get their hand on those flowers. My maid of honor wanted me to turn around and hand it to her but that wouldn't have been fair and besides it's a tradition! So get the party started to we our DJ play "Going to the Chapel" by the Dixie Cups. I stepped out onto the floor and gave it my best shot!

When that bouquet went up in the air those girls went wild! It came down from the sky and they jumped for it! It was an all out fight!

Clearly some were disappointed that they lost their shot at it but the fight was still raging on behind them.

But after a little tug of war and most of the flowers and petals on the ground a victor was named! The victor let me know this is the 3rd bouquet she's caught! Hey... 3rd time is a charm.

Next up was the garter toss. He took it off my leg and threw it out to the guys to Genuine Pony! Classic song and very appropriate for this activity...

My garter was also my something blue. When it went out into the crowd it was finding it's new home!

It's in the air!

Then they thought better of catching it and let it hit the ground. Only the strongest of men was willing to pick it up and risk being married off next.

We have a winner!

When we were planning our wedding, I thought this was going to be so awkward and didn't want to toss the items out but it actually was a lot of fun and went by super quick. We had fun with it and chose fun music. It also got people really involved and out of their seats before open dancing started! I can't wait to see the video!

Aww, fun! I tossed my bouquet--at our wedding, the "single ladies" were either a few college friends, all my little cousins who were about 13 or younger, and one of my grandma's friends in her 60s who was proud to be out there trying to catch the bouquet! ha! A little girl ended up catching it.

It's so cool that this wasn't as awkward as you thought it would be. :) I've always had the same thought about that part of the reception.

I remember how much fun this was at my reception. My best friend's boyfriend caught the garter and he proposed to her two weeks later!
