Black Sand Beach

One of the most famous things known about Hawaii is their elusive Punalu'u Black Sand Beach.
Beezy and I stopped by this beach on the way to the National Volcanoes Park. We wanted to take some black sand home but the law strictly prohibits it. You will get a fine. For real. Trust me we were tempted. So we decided to walk around the beach for a few minutes and check out what this black sand was really all about.

To me it looked like it was tiny little pieces of lava rock that had been crushed over time.

And guess who we saw...
Another sea turtle! This one was all by himself and nesting on the sand. He just hung out and chilled. I'm sure he was like why are all of these people standing around taking my photo and making a big deal about my nap? Unlike the sea turtles we saw at Hapuna this turtle was much darker and seemed a lot younger.

This is one of my favorite photos from Hawaii. So random stranger who took it. Thank you!
